Disco Kid was supposed to be an entirely different character altogether-he was originally intended to be Kid Quick, a character who appeared in several different versions of Punch Out back in the day. Evidently Nintendo though he would be more fun as a dancing richard simmons wannabee.

I'm having trouble finding 5 opportunities getting a star when fighting Disco Kid, which is one of his challenges.

Check the gamespot guide for four of them. The last one is to hit him in the head after a body blow. Basically, avoid his attack, punch him slowly in the gut. Now see when he recovers he moves around a bit then comes back to center? Hit him in the head or gut jut a bit before he fully moves back into place
