And I do not say "I dislike Star Trek" just because. I genuinely found the movie stupid, unengaging and boring. It's not real Star Trek, but trying hard to be Star Trek. It has no heart, even worse than Nemesis. I think Star Trek lost it's heart when Gene died.

Probably why they never did do another one. For the time, it was just what Star Wars craved kids wanted. With the hindsight of the prelogy of Star Wars movies, I think The Last Starfighter is better. It's funny, (they added more scenes of the thing that replaced the guy on earth, because test audiences loved it, and I did too as a kid). Haven't seen the movie in many years, but it was nerd heaven in the 80s.

Reminds me of the scene in "Fifth Element" where Zorg is about to get blown up in the hotel and the wounded alien soldier reactivates the bomb that Zorg just deactivated and the soldier says "For the honor". Another cool line :)
