  • It made me cry as I remembered my mum.

  • Just beautiful. I have recently discovered this amazing band, and I keep finding more and more gems, like this song.

  • @MrGrocer1 My Dad introduced me to elbow a few years ago and I now have all of their albums. Every song is unique and pure heaven; they all have a different feel which is great for when your feeling happy, sad or just confused because there's a song for every mood! I recommend all of their albums, its such a shame they weren't all as successful as The Seldom Seen Kid.

  • When I hear this song I have to play it loud! This song really gets you thinking

  • omg I didnt think it was true you could be moved to tears like the top comments...but I have shed my fair amount of tears for this! Im also in the middle of a wake&Bake so its like 1000x more intense

  • astonishing song its evocative plaintive emotional and everybody can relate to the childhood theme therefore the two dislikes can fuck off

  • I'm so happy I found elbow ....makes you think about what you love.... quite, simply a brilliant, beautiful song.

  • I really love elbow..and my girlfriend. always think of her when I listen to this song<3

  • what an amazing lyricist guy garvey is! This is the most beautiful song!

  • Of all the Elbow albums and all the songs this is by far my favorite. One of my all time favorite songs.

  • What sort of fucking idiot would dislike this? It's the most beautiful song ever recorded.

  • Mr bollock,

    hello.

    From Simon.

  • this sing makes me feel happy, it reminds me of all the beauty in the world, all its complexity and simplicity.

  • PS This is not a video

  • 0 dislikes.

  • Wunderschön!

  • I just discovered "Elbow" today. This is a very good day!

This is the kind of music and artist you treasure.

  • @PaulRayIsMe trust me, you won´t be disappointed with elbow. make sure to catch bones of you and great expectations. happy listening!

  • Why on earth does reality tv really matter? Why does success constitute to a great tune? Why can't people just float through this magnificent medley of irrepressible sad touch after the next without any real thought for anything but it? Come on, this is art!!!!

  • "Been climbing trees, I've skinned my knees..."

God, but I love this song. Koko tonight, the O2 at the end of the month. Bring it on.

  • Nothing but respect for Elbow, this is one of my favourite songs of all time, it's stunningly beautiful. How is it that these guys are relatively unheard of, yet the likes of these reality show contestants are ruling the charts. They are amazing, I wish them all the best and wanna thank them for making this song and soo many other beautiful pieces of music. From their biggest welsh fan 8)

  • My all-time favourite Elbow track from a - let's face it - pretty damn impressive back catalogue. They've written countless amazing songs; this just happens to be utterly perfect.

  • This seems to be a popular song to dance to, i'm 15 doing a GCSE piece to this song :)

  • I just got a t-shirt that looks as close to that picture as i could find. I get lost in a dream when I look in it and I always forget the song because it's just ambient in a way.

  • im 13an im dancing to this song, this song is soo pretty

  • One of my top 5 songs ever, absolutely beautiful. Great band, great lyricist, finally getting the recognition they deserve. The funny thing is, their earlier albums (especially this one) are probably better than the ones that have brought them fame and (hopefully) fortune.

  • Goosebumps from start to finish..

  • Funny thing is that its only 2 chords - F & G - but its a massive killer on the guitarist as the tempo kicks along - I love this song - I love Elbow & the drummer - fkn brill. Roll on March!

  • :')

  • Seats booked, Album ordered, Roll on March

  • Just an unbelievable tune. Absolutely amazing, think of your family when you hear this song and they will be with you. My dad is every time I hear it.

  • Guy Garvey: Master of the Bittersweet

  • I have a distant memory exactly like this.

  • Gorgeous. This is the song that made me fall in love with Elbow years ago.

  • snap

  • Evocative. If there is one word that sums up Elbow it is that. //this is my favourite Elbow song. The simple description of memories that are his shouldn't remind me of all of mine so easily yet this song just makes me think of happy times. It's stupendously brilliant. Lyrical genius.

  • And my sister buzzes through the room leaving perfume in the air, And thats what triggered this. I come back here from time to time... Everything about this SCREAMS warmth.. Elbow be my mistress <3

  • fell in love with this song as soon as i listened to it

  • Elbow's most underrated song. Takes me to some very magical places...

  • Absolutely beautiful! Heard it last night on Zane Lowe's show

  • @WhatYouGot856 i heard it today on zane lowe's show.

amazing what you find on that show

  • @chucklebug13 thats where i heard it too!!!

  • This song actually brings me to tears. Absolutely beautiful. I just phoned my mum to tell her I love her!

  • Thats a good thing..

  • @buzzboy172 thats awesome, it really is that kind of song. Of all the Elbow songs and albums this song will remain my most favorite. Beautiful music from beautiful souls.

  • I'll tell her, I'm round there now, it is a tune though mate x to ya dad

  • I love the quiet voices you acn hear in the background at 0:58 - 1:01.

  • I wanna be that bird!

  • That bird crashed into a pole because the flash blinded him.

  • yet another elbow song that works even though it has ridiculously simple chords. Why does it work? Dunno but it does! I love it.

  • probably still their best album in my opinion this one, although they're all incredibly good. There's something about listening to someone sing with total honesty from the heart that makes you just hang on every word, its something you don't get very often. The lyrics have such beautiful imagery in aswell, they're up there with the best songwriters ever in my opinion

  • All words by Guy Garvey.

  • so true

  • aaahh the memories of childhood! love those lyrics!

  • I curently have goosebumps. Just listening to Elbow takes me away to an enchanted world. They are an amazing band, much like Genesis, except better!

  • @snabadabadingdong Me too. Especially the second verse. He makes me miss my Grandad keenly... "And he talks of people ten years gone like i've known them all my life, like scattered black and whites"

  • Best song of off this album, and in my top 5 favs of their stuff. Unfortunately I only have too out of 3 albums - Ill need to chase down a copy of their second one :-) That I look forward to

  • they have 4 albums, Asleep in the back, cast of thousands, leaders of the free world and their latest one, Seldom seen kid.

  • Tjanks for the correction - Ill look for the other now as well :)

  • This song is magnificently nostalgic. Such moving lyrics. I think it's written about memories of grandparents:

    Crosswords through the bathroom door,

A high-back chair. He sits and stares a thousand yards and whistles marching band,

He reaches out and I take a massive hand,

And he talks of people ten years gone like I've known them all my life, like scattered black 'n' whites

How their first album "Asleep in the Back" didnt get widespread recognition for this, I'll never know.

  • Thanks for posting a clear version. Beautiful. xxx

  • i discovered elbow in 2002 and im glad to see they're finally getting the recognition they diserve :)

  • They deserve more.

  • they are being recognised now. Their latest albumn won an award.

  • Their next album will be the factor.

  • excellent

  • an amazing song, moves me to tears every time. reminds me of those times when you just feel so damn lonely.
