We still lost depth on the line. And you hope Jenkins and scandrick are better. especially if Newman goes down again. Yeah Henry is still a starting CB, but I bet he would have been a heck of a safty. He's a ball hawk. We have an undersized NT, and now there's no depth there. Yeah i hope brookins can make up for our 2 LBs we lost. I like spencer upside but he better get atleast 8 sacks. And we still havn't address the turnover situation. That's the real problem, can't put teams away with.

The problem I have with these cuts are the fact that people keep saying, hey we will have 3 very good running backs. So now instead of scoring 30+ we'll be scoring under 20 a game. And the fact that we lost a starting corner, and a 8 sack DE/OLB , a talented NT, a veteren MLB, and 1 of our best DL are you sure we will keep other teams under 20 points. Lets not forget that Romo will give them at least 1-2 extra possesions off turnovers.

Yea but look at who we replaced them with. Henry is not a starting corner anymore, i'm glad he's gone and Jenkins or Scandrick should be much improved. All Wade has done is praise Spencer, he's a much better overall player than Ellis, Greg was terrible against the run. A talented NT?? All I saw was a player who complained and thought he was better than he was. Brooking is an upgrade over Thomas. Brooking 2 years younger, worked with Wade before, and bigger than Zach. true, but now that we've seen what tashard choice can do. we have 3 starting caliber running backs if you ask me. the running game will be much better this coming season which will open the passing easily. greg ellis' release is iffy, and weighs heavy on Spencer to do work. I think we should have kep ellis, and got rid of Procter so one of these other young guns can come out and paly a bit on the line. but i think it'll be a good season with a playoff win finally.

I wasn't aware of Greg being a problem in the locker room. I don't follow it in the off season very much. But in my opinion the defense hasn't been the problem in Dallas. I hope the new guys are up to it. The Coach is a defensive guy so I have to give him the benifit. I am much more worried about our offense. Who knows mabey we will have a break out year at wide reciever. In any case I will be watching.

I have nothing but respect for Greg Ellis, but at 34 years old he will be making to much money on this roster to be a situational pass rusher. I don't know if Jerry could have waited on a trade because of what he is going to pay Demarcus Ware. I see some are concerned about what we are going to do for dept at linebacker that's why you churn the bottom of the roster. It's not feasible to have all pro players as backup. We should hope Spencer is the real deal and can stay healthy.

Honestly...I wished we would have traded him when we went to the 3-4. He knew then that his role was in jeopardy. When I saw Portis eat him up on the outside...I knew it was not a fulltime place for him as was not the DE position. Greg Ellis has been sitting in cowboys purgatory for 6 years now. I can understand why the Cowboys released Greg Ellis. To pay 4 million to a 34 past his prime pass rusher doesnt make sense, especially when you got a first round pick backing him up. As far as trading him, honestly whos gonna give up draft picks for a guy his age? I think he'll end up in New England, they always stock veterens and get them to produce.

I think everyone understands why they released Ellis. I'm wondering why they waited so long. He should have been cut right after the season if we didn't believe that we could get anything. I understand that viewpoint but don't subscribe to it. I feel that the leaders should step up and be leaders. If you have to slap someone around...then so be it. If you just start removing personalities that you don't like...well, first of all your focus is off football. Secondly...you are presented with a whole new crowd of dissent the following year with other players if you don't fix what is truly wrong...the play on the field.

I agree that leadership has to start from the top mainly the coaching staff. There is an unspoken culture that there are no consequences for repeated mistakes. For instance, Flozell has at least 1 false start a game or a d line neutral zone infraction. I can recall 2 times last season when Romo waved off the punt team on 4th down and ran a play. Romo would have never done anything like that under Parcell. They respect and like Wade but don't fear him.

Under Jimmy Johnson player respected and feared him because they knew there will be dyer consequences for repeated mistakes(Curvin Richards) especially if you are at the bottom of the roster. Even a soft spoken coach like Dungy was feared by his players. The so called rift rafts weren't really the problem, it was the soft spoken coaching staff. Wade says there will be a new tone this season for our sake I hope he right.

These days the media is in the story telling business so they will take a not so big story and make it the top story (Swine-Flu). Take an honest look at Ellis's 11 year career with the Cowboys on and give a logical explanation to why he was a cancer to this organization. I really hate to see long time Cowboy players go, but I know they can't stay with the team forever. Ellis may be gone, but his shadow may still linger in the likes of Jason Williams and/or Victor Butler (IF they play like Ellis did.) Who knows, maybe we might have another DeMarcus Ware too. I'm going to go out on a limb here. Ware + Spencer + J. Williams + Butler = SACKS, SACKS, SACKS, AND MORE SACKS! I say we'll still lead the league in sacks even with Ellis out of the picture.

It would appear that the last of the Me players are out of dallas. I hope Dallas can truely build a TEAM concept into the players still with the organization. If they can foster that type of TEAM mentality, then they will be fine. I just wish we could have got something for Ellis and not worry about possibly paying a difference in his contract.
