This video is really biased. I mean, it feels more like a sensationalist, one-sided video than an objective look at GM foods. Consider that 90% of the video talks about the disadvantages of GM foods, but barely touches on the advantages at all.
There actually ARE advantages to growing GM food. This video just doesn't convey this information, because it's being shown on the news, and news reports have to be sensationalist/fear-mongering to attract the viewers' attention.
@SadisticPyro Yeah, most of the negatives they have pointed out are how Humans aren't handling the technology properly. If anyone knows genetics and how plants reproduce we can understand how the gene would spread that isn't so appalling. The video, also admits that we clearly do not know whether or not GMO is harmful. We need regulation to stop vaccine GMO to spread. The technology can certainly work.
@laurent0etienne Genetic Engineering is not selective or cross breeding. Here is the USDA definition of Genetic Engineering "under guidelines issued by USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, genetic engineering is defined as the genetic modification of organisms by recombinant DNA techniques (7CFR340: 340.1)." "Recombinant DNA techniques (DNA formed by combining segments of DNA from different organisms)" Who would starve without GMOs?
@laurent0etienne The UN and World Bank recently completed an unprecedentedly broad scientific assessment of world agriculture, the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development, which concluded that biotech crops have very little potential to alleviate poverty and hunger.
@laurent0etienne A study in the journal Renewable Agriculture and Food Systems, based on 293 yield comparisons of plant and animal foods, showed that organic agriculture has the potential to feed the entire human population based on the amount of agricultural land currently in use. sciencedaily"dot"com/releases/2007/07/070711134523.htm
@laurent0etienne Here are some links to studies suggesting organic would benefit poor countries more than conventional and GM crops. There are plenty more studies as well. srfood.org/images/stories/pdf/ press_releases/20110308_agr oecology-report-pr_en.pdf
@laurent0etienne The 2010 data on the worldhunger website shows there is more than enough food right now to feed everyone on earth. Poor people starve because they can not afford food, not because of a lack of food production. It is immoral to promote GM foods being kept outdoors and for human consumption when there are possible health, environmental and contamination risks. Especially when studies suggest organic foods can feed the world without GMOs.
I completely agree with lemonndrop, things are very wrong! I really thing its absurd and outrageous whats being done to nature, humans dont have the right to change nature just to get more profits, its absurd to adjust nature to the conditions of industrial market.
They said ten years with no obvious health problems? Just look around you, nearly everyone is fat or bloated. We suffer like never before with allergies. It's never been that way before. I think that is quite obvious. Somethings wrong. Not to mention us loosing all the bees and a huge part of nature along with it. Just look around you and forget the TV for awhile. Wake up people. Our lives depend on you. Save our earth, food, people and our wildlife - go organic!
I bought romaine lettuce that had a plastic taste and consistency. I didn't like it and threw it out. I didn't know anything about GMOs when this happened a few months ago. When they mentioned this in the video, I remembered the lettuce I ate and now know it was GMO.
Its to bad everyone now has a food LOBOTOMY and lacks a spine ! What in heck will protesting do ? " NOTHING " as always .I think they GMO'd to many spinless jelly fish with our food ! ITS THE GAY GENE mosly feminizing everyone with hormones in meet milk and soy. If this was the Wild west people would deal with these things the propper way !
Funny how the gov't "law-types" say they are merely "urging" the industry to NOT use certain types of plants....but then they say that they'll just have to wait and see what plants the industry chooses to use----uhh....where are the LAWS & REGULATIONS, here? It's a freakin' free for all and those in charge of policy/law/regulation lack the cajones to do their jobs AND LAY DOWN SOME LAWS for protection. Sickening. I'm STILL waitin' for labels in my grocery stores here in the US.

For anyone interested in more information about their food and the production of it, including detailed info on GMO, watch the film "The Future of Food", an independent film...
"The Future of Food" mentioned in this comment is a 1hr/29-min film that, in my opinion, is the very best documentary on GMO's ever produced - honest, informative, and fun to watch. It is now available in Google videos.
This is not accurate. Since 1994, there has been an explosion in the numbers of food allergies. This coincides with the release of GM food on the market.

Dude retards, when you breed two animals like cows it is GMO does't mean it was made in a Lab that it is bad.
GMO are beneficial.
Some might not work but most do since they are made to work. If they don't work they will not be used.
Whiteout GMO's millions of people would be starving.
People who are against GMO are selfish.

|SWE| Gmo är framtiden. Seriöst, varför ska man inte kunna producera mer snabbare till den snabbt ökande befolkningen?
|ENG| GMO is the future. Seriously, why shouldn't we NOT be able to produce more food quicklier to the rapidly increasing population?
