  • I wish I could watch this without the laugh track. They just bother me.

  • When did Butch Hartman forget how to make a good cartoon? He was once great but now he can't make anything good

  • that was GREAT :D

  • Will these two animater's ever create another cartoon together ever again.

  • lmao freerange is a game now

  • I don't like cartoons with laugh tracks.

  • Does anyone realize that the Alligator is GAY

  • the fucking thing has a google ad that won't play therefor the video won't play after it!

  • Hahaha, whats funny is that anybody CAN write a Family Guy episode. They're so random and uninspired now... plus after Fox found out Family Guy was popular, its been rammed down our throats ad nauseum. Ugh, I'm so fucking sick of Seth McFarlane! I can't believe he's going to have three shows now, there is no doubt in my mind that "The Cleveland Show" is going to be the exact same as Family Guy and American Dad... and you know what? Sheeple are going to quote it incessantly until you want to die.

  • Er... American Dad's style is completely different than Family Guy's and The Cleveland Show wasn't his idea and even though it may have cutaways the way it's humor style is isn't entirely like Family Guy's.

  • Really? America Dad is that much different? It's a carbon copy down to the talking animal companion. And Cleveland Show is a carbon copy down to the talking baby that hates its parents.

  • American Dad doesn't heavily rely on pop colture references and cutaways, the characters, and situations aren't like that of Family Guy.

The Cleveland Show's humor is different from that of Family Guy's as well. Like American Dad, The Cleveland Show doesn't heavily rely on pop culture and while it does have cutaways it isn't used as much as it is in Family Guy. The show is also very character driven.

  • The baby character you're referring to, Rollo, is five years old. His personality is different that Stewie's and unlike Stewie, Rollo interacts with every family member and don't ignore his dialogue.

He also doesn't hate his parents. He just has negative feelings toward Cleveland but not on a hatred level.

  • Didn't he try to kill Cleveland in the second episode?

Dude, don't you realize we're being sold the same house over and over again, just with a slightly different coat of paint. It's just boring. I used to love Family Guy when it was clever and funny... now, it's just Seth McFarlane printing money for 30 minutes.

  • @danimal2888 and you would love to have that job!

  • You're kidding me that American Dad doesn't rely on pop culture references, right? Booger for Revenge of the Nerds is a reoccurring character!!!!! Everything Roger does is in reference to something else. Nearly everything Stan does is a reference to an 80s action movie. That show is just one big pop culture reference, it may not be as obligatory as Family Guy, but it's definitely using your prior knowledge of pop culture to drive home every punchline.

  • I said American Dad doesn't /heavily/ rely on pop culture reference not that it doesn't rely on pop culture at all.

  • The show is just pop culture though. You may not realize it, but everything they do is in reference to something.

It relies heavily on you knowing the reference. Seth MacFarlane is like that guy that always asks you, "hey, remember [insert 80s tv reference here], wasn't that great?" It's just old-hat already, ya know? And if it isn't pop culture, it's some nonsequitur that intentionally falls flat.

  • That would be Family Guy-esque humor.

Also, Seth MacFarlane hasn't written an episode of Family Guy since Season 4.

  • Even worse, the only reason that guy has a career is because of the fans. If the fans didn't step up and demand Family Guy be put back on the air, he'd be gone. We deserve better than what he's giving us.

  • Or y'know you can just not watch it.

  • How could I when it's on every channel 24/7.

  • Oh it's very simple actually. You'll be very surprised at how amazingly easy it is.

    Should I go by a step-by-step process?

    Okay.

    1.) Notice on TV

    2.) Take your remote

3.) Change the channel/watch something else

    alt. 2) Stop watching TV

alt. 3) Go on the internet/go outside/do something.

    It's THAT easy!

  • LOL, good one. Alright, you win

  • @danimal2888

theres more than just pop culture jokes. theres observational comedy, crude humor, dark humor, a little bit of absurdism

  • Seth MacFarlane wrote, and Butch handled the art.

    There.

  • Is that Thomas F. Wilson playing the Polar Bear? Sounds exactly like him. But the credits aren't shown on this clip

  • The alligator sounds like Jasper.

  • out of all the frederator cartoons ive watched. 1-19 and 100-the end , this one is my least favorite.. its boring..

  • The animation is much like Fairy Godparents. I wonder if Seth gets credit for that.

  • that's because the director is butch hartman, creator of the Fairly Oddparents.

  • It said in the beginning "Storyboard by Butch Hartman"

  • The first one wouldn't be nearly so bad without the laugh track. But it would still be pretty bad.

Haha SDG was demented. But funny.

And the last one had me laughing out loud! It was so perfectly hilarous.

  • the ONLY expliations i can think og for the first god awful clip is that it's either very very early work (believable if you watch parts of the pilot family guy episode ...), or that he was trying to do something he thought kids would like?...

  • the explanation I can think of is that family guy is a hugely overrated show. Its seriously not that funny.. more a series of unconnected gags without even resembling a storyline or an overall humouros plot.

And yes I did watch them all... (I mean.. its not so much that its horrible but its also not as funny as the fans believe)

  • The animal-rights girl looks like Butch Hartman drew her. :C

  • Stupid laugh track :(

  • the last one is a nice sadistic touch... but the first? kinda hard to believe THE SETH made it (though it's nice to see how darn well he evolved :D)

  • Agreed, the seth macfarlane one is garbage, who's been feeding him stuff for family guy?

  • but he did larry and steve for cartoon network, and that went pretty famous. He also made that before zoomates
