@CRyStALDOLL10 Yes antiseptic Listerine is good. Rinse you're mouth after every meal and drink besides water. Apple sauce and Jell-O are, soup and soft foods. Then gradually move on, get used to chewing with it in. Ice chips or cubes will be your best friend. And ice water.
My tounge ring kinda hurt. mine completly healed in 4 days. I couldnt talk at all. Ive never chiped a tooth but I did chomp on it for the first 4months. I tryed to eat pizza and french fries and it didnt work :| but I absolutly love my tounge ring.. Like you said.. Its apart of me. Ive had mine pierced when I was 13 and im 17 now.. And sometimes I forget I have one. But my point is.. Lol I love my piercing. :)
I love my tongue piercing! I got it about 2 years ago and I wouldn't regret it for anything. I went to the best piercing studio in New Orleans and as long as people go to a reputable place, there shouldn't be problems. It has definitely become a part of me, like you said. The only time I think about it is when someone else mentions it.
Oh and one more question(: (lol sorry) can you brush your teeth normally and can you brush your tongue too or do you just use mouthwash to clean the tongue? Thanks
Hey thanks for this video it really helped me alot(: I have been wanting a tongue piercing for Sooooo long now and ive decided to get it done in a couple days... So I have one question(: (anyone who wants to answer this questions can) 1. When it's getting pierced, how bad does it hurt on a scale of 1-10? I know you said its really quick but I'm just a little worried. Thanks(:
This video made me feel much better. I got a Piercing 2 days ago, and I was afraid that it is too back far in the mouth. I am good now. But it kindd of hurts.
I got my tongue pierced when I was 17 & took it out 5 years later. Honestly I just kinda grew out of it. I had started a professional job & didn't want to have to worry about taking it out & putting in retainer daily. Not to mention my dentist said it is terrible for your teeth because even if you don't realize it it can wear down your bottom teeth. That's crazy they gave you the option of where to get it pierced at. Men usually get them closer and women further back, for sexual reasons :o
@LeavingForVenus You say, "That's crazy they gave you the option of where to get it pierced at?" Excuse me? It's the client's body--they should be able to get pierced wherever they want to be pierced! The only reason for a piercer to decline a customer's request to be pierced in a certain spot is if it would be medically dangerous to do so.
@LeavingForVenus You also say, "Men usually get them closer and women further back, for sexual reasons." That's gotta be one of the most homophobic remarks I'ver ever encountered! I can see the reason for getting one's tongue pierced differently depending on the gender of one's lover(s), but assuming what gender one's lover(s) might be based on one's own gender is unacceptable nowadays. Anyhow, a really open-minded person would want to get both piercings, to be prepared for any eventuality!
@RadicalSexyThinker Actually I'm not homophobic, but thanks for assuming. I'm going by what every piercer I've ever come across has told me. That GENERALLY women get them farther back and men closer up. I'm sure if they said they wanted it different as long as it wasn't medically harmful it would be fine. It's just not something I've heard of, they don't really ask you where you want it they just do it the standard way.
I got my done two yrs ago ( but i did have it when i was 18 as well, mom made me take it out) I didn't feel anything at all and the peircer sayed i had a good tongue to peirce LOL...but you are right about being apart of ya..b/c it is me..lol
I love your story...I have a tongue ring too and I don't think I could take mine out either. I didn't tell my parents either....I couldn't talk right for a week. I ate chicken soup the whole weekend.
ive had mine done for a few years as well, and youre right, after a while you dont notice its even there --- Sent From MissChievous's AppRats (Facebook App)!
Hi Julia! I guess people are so curious about your piercing cause it's kinda weird to see a woman in her 30's with a piercing when she doesn't look "alternative".
Good thing that your piercer convinced you about the placement of the piercing. When I got my tongue pierced back when I was 17 I had to take it out after a few weeks because it was irritating the back of my teeth. :(
I also have my tongue pierced, about 10 years now. I tell people who ask me about it to really think before getting it done. With mine, after the swelling, I got permanent teeth indentations on my tongue and also it has caused my front teeth to chip and my inner gum line in the front to reseed away from my teeth! My main thing I ask people is do you like your mouth the way it is because you are risking your teeth. Don't get me wrong I love mine and wont take it out, but I wouldn't do it over.
I had a Monroe, and it started rubbing away my gums after about 3 months, and I had to take it out. I recommend if you do get a mouth piercing THINK IT THROUGH, and think about where you put it,...now I miss it but I have a scar so it's not really like I can get it re-done on the same side of my mouth or anything. :\
Awesome! Finally, we get to know about the mysterious tongue piercing. Haha. I've always wanted snakebites, but I was going to wait until they took out my braces [Too much metal in your mouth! LOL]. Now, I just need the money & I'm soo rushing to get it done. I'm tired of waiting & never doing it. Thanks for all the great tips! :)
I have questions for you - how many languages do you speak fluently?...I'm also curious, what's your background? I know you are German but did you grow up in Canada? You speak English so well! Just curious. Love your videos!! :-)
I love the idea of tongue piercing!... and I am almost 18 year old and I don't even live with my parents! ...but my mother will be so mad if i put one... so i don't even think anymore. lolz
all people experience piercings differently. To all the people wanting one, but being too scared to get one --> Just do it! ^_____^ It's a really fun piercing. I have mine for 8 years now. Didn't hurt AT ALL. I'm not joking. Compared to my septum/smiley/lip and nose piercing, the tongue piercing was actually the least painful! My tongue didn't hurt afterwards and it didn't swell that bad. My parents actually never noticed me having it done! Guess they still don't know!
Alot of places use sea salt now for cleansing. It heals you twice as fast have had it done twice once during lysterine days and once now that use sea salt. I literally was able to eat normally after couple days with the sea salt. Lysterine days I didnt eat anything solid for a 5 or 6 days. Lost bunch of weight though. Thanks for doing this good info for those who are thinkin bout it.
I've been wanting to get my tongue pierced for so long but I've always been scared of the pain lol I have 8 already but I still get nervous whenever I go to get one xD
u sound just like me lol we're probably about the same age (or i might be just a tad older) & got my piercing back when i was 17. i also was the only person in my school & probably in my city that had my tongue pierced. & yes i still have it, its my last remaining piercing & i wont remove it (even tho i have thought abt it)
so this is going to sounds strange, but i have had mine done twice, and when i was talkin to the my tattoo/peircing guy he told me that woman who get their tongue peirced while they're on their mestral period they sometimes dont swell, or dont swell at all...and so obviously i went when i was and its true, so? if you are thinking about it and your a girl, GO WHEN YOU ARE RAGGIN lmfao ;)
I know exactly what you mean by the piercing being a part of you & not getting rid of it. I got my lip pierced almost 3 years ago, & it has now become a part of me. I cant see myself w/o it. Since I got it done, Ive changed the ring once, & for those 5mins that I didnt have it on, I felt weird, like a part of me was missing. Obviously one day I'll have to remove it because my major is Business Administration & facial piercings not being accepted in the business world, but for now, Im keeping it.
I have exactly the same piercings as you, and my belly button piercing has given me much more trouble than the tongue one. Actually, the tongue piercing has never given me problems. And amazingly it didn't hurt at all, it's the swelling that hurts. But the belly button one hurt like hell!
I had a third ear piercing but the girl mustve nicked a nerve or blood vessel on my right ear because it nvr healed. I remember having it for over a year before finally taking it out. when it healed, it slightly keloided(sp?) so that turned me off from piercings. I will say I would be terrified of accidently swallowing a tongue barbell. I'm an ink girl now :)
There was a girl I used to go to school with who had her tongue piercing really far forward. So all the time in class all you would hear is her clanking her tongue bar against her teeth.. She would try to get it stuck in between her crooked teeth, then spend the next ten minutes getting it out. *Shudder* It was horrid, and since then I've always kinda hated tongue piercings. I can safely say, you've changed my mind about them. Although I'll stick to my gauges and microdermals ;)
I only have my ears pierced but I do want my tongue pierced. While I'm not judgemental, my family is very oldfashioned so its juest easier to appease than to be given a million lectures on consequences.(that I had when I got my 2nd ear piercing when I was 18 and they talked me out of an industrial bar) Maybe one day I'll grow up and decide if I want it enough but I totally admire you for yours :]
I have a tongue piercing too, I remember the week after it got pierced...agonyyyy I ate soup for a week! I have it for 4 years or so now, no problems afterwards! I think it is cool you do this vid, there is a lot of negative reactions/biases towards body mods (even as common as tongue piercings!)
Hi! Just wanted to say I have one too!!! To me it hurt alot but it was like 3 seconds and it was done( there was not enought time to cry). To me what hurt the most was the first week! I also feel like my tongue pircing its part of me now and i dont feel like im going to take it off anytime soon. I got it done when i was 17 and now im 24 and i still LOVE IT.
I got several piercings and a tattoo and out of them my belly button hurt the most.. my mom was with me and my whole family was in the store and my mom said that I was fine through the piercing but once she put the ring in I turned three different colors. I cried and yelled mommy hahaha and all of my little siblings came running thinking there was something horribly wrong *i was 16 at the time*
You know now that your probably gonna get a lot of requests for your belly button piercing. LOL. I think a lot of people are scared of piercing their tongues since seeing Rat Race. Good thing yours was a good experience!!!
i remember when i got my tounge peirced. my cousin and i were driving around just cruising and we seen a peircing shop, we decided "hey lets get out tounges peirced" i was scared to death, had no idea what i was getting myself into. 30 mintues of debating i finally got it peirced and it didnt hurt at all. the next day my cousin and i were talking funny, and drooling from the sides of our mouths. till this day we still have them in and its been 5yrs.
Not everyone can get it pierced further back. It depends on how far back the tendon under the tongue goes. I had mine in the same place as yours and it actually started to damage my gums. I put the shorter barbell in too and it still rubbed my gums down so they looked receded. Now I have VERY sensitive teeth. Not everyone will have a bad reaction, but its DEFINITELY something to think about. I work in a bank and they had no prob with it.
wow, i can't believe how easily people are being so rude to you about this. they're even acting like they're doing you a favor. it's so superior and gross...
i lyk piercings....i wud hav done in my tongue...bt im scrd of d pain...n i fnd tongue senstve ...wen i bite it accdntly...it pains a lot...i hav 4 piercings...a nose piercin n n 3 for earings...i m keen to get one on my chin or eyebrow...u neva thot of doin dat julia?
@XInvider if u take it out, it takes literally hrs b4 it starts closing. U may have to have it re-pierced! There is a website that sells 1mm bars that's the thinnest I've ever found
I only notice my tongue piercing, when i tak it out and put a new screwball on it. I love the fact that you dont have to worry about daily hazzards. Earpiecings and belly botton piercings can get pulled on and hit so easily.
@TheThirdShift Don't worry about ppl like that !!!! All you true fans will stick up for you !!!!! Plus i would love to see them speak in more then one language ! Also to speak beautifully so screw them !!!!!!
Have you ever had trouble with gauging? I got my tongue pierced when I was 14 (my parents took me) I'm 25 now and I recently just put a barbell back in after having it out since I was 18. But the only thing I could get in there is actually not meant for tongue piercings, it's more for eyebrows and I'm having trouble trying to get anything else in there, even with a taper.
i already have my lip and my belly button (twice) pierced .. i could not live without them... i just hope my belly-button ones dont grow out again since ive already redone them
A tip when after getting your tongue pierced is to stay away from dairy or beer while it heals. The types of bacteria in those could possibly set up infection and that would not be fun.. :D
Does/did it ever make it difficult to talk? Like did you have to get used to having that on your tongue or could you just speak normally? Because I know someone who has a tongue piercing and she had to get used to speaking differently because of her piercing...
@aneejah Can you tell me more about it? What do you prefer? upper or lower bellybutton? how much did it cost? Not to be creepy, but I talked to my mom and she doesnt mind :D
@sabrinasita i personally prefer the lower one but it depends on you ^-^ i paid 80franks for one (switzerland) and for the redoing 120franks for both. make sure they pierce it little longer than you want it bc it will grow out a little. please sanitize 3 times a day for at least 3 months and then keep sanitizing after sports, showering, swimming etc. its sooo important!! and do not pull or twist them (even if they tell you to) do not touch with unwashed hands... yeah thats it :D
I love my tongue piercing and dont see myself taking it out even when I have kids or gran kids. It gives me no trouble and it makes me happy. I felt barely any pain. I was more scared over them clamping my tongue to hold it still lol. Thanks for sharing ur piercing experience with us :D
GREAT NOW WE JUST NEED A BELLY BUTTON PIERCING FAQ!!! lol i want to get mine done sooo bad, but i cant cuz im too young and my parents would kill me but at some point in my life i really do want to get it done
hi, in some other video I saw the end of it and you were speakin german very fluidly and I was wondering if you could do a video of your university expirience, how did you learn the languages, wut did you go to universit for i mean if ou want i dont wanna be nosy!! I was just wondering, is amaizing the way you speak, girls tumbs up for her to see pleaseee
@kathymasencullen she lives in switzerland... they have 3 official languages and german is one of them, and she said she was learning french which is always one of the official languages. :)
@kathymasencullen I think her family is from Switzerland, that's why she speaks perfect German. She has a few videos taking place in Switzerland.I think she is commuting between Switzerland and Canada.
I just find this kind of piercing trashy :/ but don't take that personally Julia because you're one of my favorite beauty gurus! and you don't seem trashy at all! Just a lot of girls get em for just... ya know a certain reason haha
Everyone is really different with pain, when I got mine the actual piercing didn't hurt whatsoever, just was kind of a shock to me. My tongue didn't swell, bleed or anything. Didn't hurt after at all, only time it did was when I was an idiot and decided to eat spicy food. Mine is a little closer than yours and thank God I have no damaged my teeth or gums! Just depends on how careful and cautious you are.
When I had mine done I felt the pressure of the needle going through but there was no pain. It did swell the first week or so, but I kept drinking Slurpees (flavored crushed ice drink) and that really helped. Mine is closer to the front because of the veins running through the tongue. It really depends on the person how close to the tip or further back that it can go. Most people don't even notice mine unless the light hits it or I laugh, etc.
@TheThirdShift Just a little side note. I think its important as well to ask to see the autoclave (most places will have no problem showing you the machine as its a fairly common request) bc you want to make sure the device is working properly. Number one thing to look for is the seal around the door to the device as this keeps the heat in and allows it to get to the proper temperature to kill pathogens. If it is cracked in any way, go to another place.Otherwise you're risking dirty instruments
getting it done doesnt hurt its the after part...when it swells..you can chew on ice...i ate baby food cuase its hard to eat with the swelling...the third day was the worst...after a week it felt normal... i changed mine out myself from the long to short.. and warm seasalt works better then mouthwash...you can use it more often and it doesnt dry ur mouth out as much...acrylic balls help for not chipping teeth but they break easy...hope this helps
my sis pierced her tongue yrs ago and within a yr and a half she removed it bcause it kept hitting her teeth. smart to do it further back on the tongue!
I had my tongue pierced for 10 years. Then I got over it. I took it out and let it close 2 years ago. I still have my nose pierced and will die with that one. That's definitely a part of me.
It got my tongue pierced and you are right, the after part is the worse. It doesn't hurt when you get it pierced. I couldn't eat for about a week and then slowly I was able to start eating again. My unfortunately rejected and it wouldn't heal. The gal that pierced me said she has never seen that happen before. Oh well I guess it wasn't meant to be because then a week later my boss asked me to take it out :( what do you do? I decided I needed my job. Love you Julia!!
people would always come into the dental office and have piercings too close to the front or monroes that destroy the teeth. Some would have nasty food caught in there too. We should station dental assistants at piercing shops to teach people to not be nasty.
This is probably such a generic question but when you got your navel pierced, how long did it take for it to heal or start to feel comfortable? A friend of mine got hers done and it's been months and she still having issues. Thanks for the video, I loved it! Im so into discreet piercings and tattoos :)
I got my tongue pierce @16, I'm 31 and still have. I put in a plastic one when I go traveling because of the metal detectors and all, but other than that it stays on .... FOR EVER!!! LOL
can anyone get it done further back on your tongue or do yo have to have a special tongue?

Alot of places use sea salt now for cleansing. It heals you twice as fast have had it done twice once during lysterine days and once now that use sea salt. I literally was able to eat normally after couple days with the sea salt. Lysterine days I didnt eat anything solid for a 5 or 6 days. Lost bunch of weight though. Thanks for doing this good info for those who are thinkin bout it.

u sound just like me lol we're probably about the same age (or i might be just a tad older) & got my piercing back when i was 17. i also was the only person in my school & probably in my city that had my tongue pierced. & yes i still have it, its my last remaining piercing & i wont remove it (even tho i have thought abt it)
OOMZKITTE007OO 7 months ago
so this is going to sounds strange, but i have had mine done twice, and when i was talkin to the my tattoo/peircing guy he told me that woman who get their tongue peirced while they're on their mestral period they sometimes dont swell, or dont swell at all...and so obviously i went when i was and its true, so? if you are thinking about it and your a girl, GO WHEN YOU ARE RAGGIN lmfao ;)

Obviously one day I'll have to remove it because my major is Business Administration & facial piercings not being accepted in the business world, but for now, Im keeping it.
fernny07 7 months ago

Vorkbom 7 months ago

A tip when after getting your tongue pierced is to stay away from dairy or beer while it heals. The types of bacteria in those could possibly set up infection and that would not be fun.. :D
streetracinggirl18 7 months ago
Wow I never noticed you had that! :)
Does/did it ever make it difficult to talk? Like did you have to get used to having that on your tongue or could you just speak normally? Because I know someone who has a tongue piercing and she had to get used to speaking differently because of her piercing...

Note: "You know in like this special oven" xD LOL!
mackie9ful 7 months ago
Everyone is really different with pain, when I got mine the actual piercing didn't hurt whatsoever, just was kind of a shock to me. My tongue didn't swell, bleed or anything. Didn't hurt after at all, only time it did was when I was an idiot and decided to eat spicy food. Mine is a little closer than yours and thank God I have no damaged my teeth or gums! Just depends on how careful and cautious you are.
ashleeyv 7 months ago
I want to pierce my tongue, but I'm afraid that does not begin gibber...
njinja666 7 months ago
When I had mine done I felt the pressure of the needle going through but there was no pain. It did swell the first week or so, but I kept drinking Slurpees (flavored crushed ice drink) and that really helped. Mine is closer to the front because of the veins running through the tongue. It really depends on the person how close to the tip or further back that it can go. Most people don't even notice mine unless the light hits it or I laugh, etc.
butterflyin313 7 months ago
The "special oven" is called an autoclave. :)
ReveNoirSD 7 months ago 6
@ReveNoirSD Haha thanks, yeah I had no idea what it's called.
TheThirdShift 7 months ago
@TheThirdShift Just a little side note. I think its important as well to ask to see the autoclave (most places will have no problem showing you the machine as its a fairly common request) bc you want to make sure the device is working properly. Number one thing to look for is the seal around the door to the device as this keeps the heat in and allows it to get to the proper temperature to kill pathogens. If it is cracked in any way, go to another place.Otherwise you're risking dirty instruments
MissIndianaJones83 7 months ago
getting it done doesnt hurt its the after part...when it swells..you can chew on ice...i ate baby food cuase its hard to eat with the swelling...the third day was the worst...after a week it felt normal... i changed mine out myself from the long to short.. and warm seasalt works better then mouthwash...you can use it more often and it doesnt dry ur mouth out as much...acrylic balls help for not chipping teeth but they break easy...hope this helps
