However I will add that I don't waste money on the "power" versions. I asked around enough, and decided that I don't need a vibrating razor blade and the extra expense of something else to put batteries in.
I have to disagree with you on the rip off perspective. In terms of a closer shave, I haven't used disposables in years, so I don't know of a good comparison. The reason I buy fusion blades instead of mach 3, and why before the fusion, I bought mach 3 instead of the 2 blade disposables, is because I can directly feel the difference in comfort. 2 blades feels like sandpaper. 5 blades feels almost like nothing's there. They both shave--one feels nicer to me. I am willing to pay extra for that.
Holy crap. I'm not saying your rant here is wrong (you're right), but they way you go about it is retarded. Why would you bother making a video if you're going to have it all in the description? Obvious answer you already know: because we can't understand you. WELL UPLOAD VIDEOS PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND!!
i had all kinds of cartidge razor, way 2 expenive so i got A 12 pack of store brand single bladed sensitive skin razors their amazing easy to shape a beard with their only a 1.99
I normally buy 12 packs of bics just because that's whats there, but the ones with a few more razors are a tiny bit less irritating on my skin, but not enough for me to want to spend that much more.
At :34, hare are the names of the pictured razors (from left to right): #1-Gillette Sensor, #2-Gillette Mach 3 turbo, #3-Gillette M3 power, #4-Schick Quattro, #5-Gillette Fusion, #6-Gillette Fusion Power.
Don't buy the power razors, because I hear they are no better than the regular manual version of them. And you have to buy blades AND batteries for them.
I recommend Mach 3 or Mach 3 turbo. Fusion sucks. Too expensive of blades, Too many blades and too difficult to shave with.
X, you're using the Mach 3 the wrong way. I just bought a Gillette Mach 3 last April to replace my Gillette Sensor Excel, and I change blades once every month and I get plenty of absolutely perfectly smooth shaves.
Now I do agree about the Fusion. It is terrible.
My advice to people looking to get a new razor, I would buy a Gillette Mach 3 or a Mach 3 Turbo. They are still the best (at least for me).
Gillette Fusion sucks, I have heard that users also strongly hate the Schick Quattro
Also depends on the thickness of the hair and ability to cut. The cheaper razors I've seen work better with cutting longer hair if you keep the blade clean with rougher hair, and the more expensive multiple blades will get clogged easy which makes you have to resort back to the cheaper ones. And if hair is too long can get jammed into the electric shaver.
You consumer whores are the dumbest people to walk the Earth. All of you who complain about cheap razors need to learn how to shave... if you actually put two and two together, you will realize that a razor, no matter how much you spend, is still a razor...
That and the fusion razor is comfortable enough to use in the shower without shaving cream - thus saving money on needing shaving cream for the crap razor. Its like driving a junker car like my old camaro. I spend less money driving my new truck than trying to keep the lesser priced vehicle working.
I usually get a month or so out of the Gillette blades. Only get one, painful shave out of the cheap disposable kind. I also don't have one consistent grain to shave against and the multiple blades really help around my wide chin and "crowns" (circles) on my neck. I'd have to call BS on the vibrating razors, but I find the fusion gives 15 or more comfortable shaves per razor. So that works out to $3 for the good razor or 4 bucks worth of crap razors per month.
Also, I have tried the cheap razors and they are the worst thing ever. The only thing they provide is a good case of razor burn and ingrown hair. While I hate to pay a marked-up price, I will continue to buy the razors that don't cut up my face...literally!
As much as I like your video's this one is certainly unfounded. This is a marketing method used by many companies. "Razor and Razor Blades" is a term used regularly as an example of how a company sells their main product at a cheap price (razor) and gets you on the back end (blades). The same goes for buying a printer (razor) and then having to buy the ink (blades). If you take a look, it's all around you. No conspiracy here...just marketing 101.
I've been amused by these multi-blade razors for awhile, and their prices are hilarious, I buy a pack of 14 razors for a dollar at the dollar store, 10 packs at a time and they last me about a year and a half.
Hi X, this week I came to the same conclusion! Having used Gilette for years I was stunned in the supermarket at the crazy prices they are asking so I decided to buy the cheapest pack with disposable blades. They shave very very smooth even better than Gilette. Only drawback is the environment so dispose them accordingly!
completely correct about people being influenced through superdooper spaceage adverts, "to hell if the damn thing cost 12 bucks for 1 6-blade razer, the adverts are cool" aso aso..
Like the title of the video, and I agree iht what you said. Especially the comment: "And the question is, does one actually need multiple blades to shave one's face? Are you cutting whiskers or mowing the lawn?" Hehe...You make a very good point, there. Personally, I, too, use the economical cheap blades rather than the fancy ones for $10 a pop
freaking get rid of the voice box no one can understand you id prob agree if i could understand you.. what lukes your son get over it and freaking get over it. what did u make a darth doody... and now your pissedoff at gelittee.. ha ha ha darth doody dee da deee im going to smite thee with my light sabre but you wont know it because i bought my voice box on discount at goodwill
@dreamlandnightmare Not if you wash them daily like the rest of your face and body. I've had a short goatee for so long I don't even know what my chin looks like underneath it anymore--and I don't feel the hair there anymore than I feel the hair sticking out of my head.
I myself like the Gilette Fusion, mainly because it has the five-bladed side AND the two-bladed side, so I don't have to buy two razors. Dunno why you think the fusion is crap, though you are entitled to your own opinion.
I haven't used the Fusion, so I can't comment on it's quality, but I'm sure it is not nearly worth its exorbitant price tag, not when one can get three times as many shaves for a fifth of the price. Come on, shaving is an every day activity for many. Does it really require such expensive and extravagent equipment?
a bit of clever marketing and some product differentiation and bam - the razor manufacturing oligopoly is a whole lot richer. Less irritation my arse.
However I will add that I don't waste money on the "power" versions. I asked around enough, and decided that I don't need a vibrating razor blade and the extra expense of something else to put batteries in.

It's actually cheaper to buy a new Gillette razor with three new blades then it is to buy the five blade pack! Jolly good times.

When I was younger, and had just started shaving, I fell for it, but not anymore.
Such marketing is a classic example of the "convince consumers to fix something that ain't broken" technique.
