If you don't mind me asking, how much did the make over cost? As a 24 year old dreamer who can't even afford an airplane right now, I'm super interested!
It looks great mate. About the sierra/complex aircraft set up in the sundowner, it's very very true people. When I used to CFI in the states, our academy used sundowners and sierras for the ppl and cpl. The students never forgot to "prop full, three green" when they were transitioning into the sierras because they were used to it since day 1 of ppl in the sundowners. If you ask me it was a good idea, one that I personally believe worked for me, and later on, my students.
Nicely done. I got to ask. What is the deal with the gear handle and gear indication lights? Did you put that in to keep your mind right like you are flying a complex airplane? Good idea.
After I sent the comment I saw where you answered my question on a different video. I fly a Sundowner and have flown may different variants over the years like the Sport, Musketeer and Sierra. I have never seen a gear handle in any of them but the Sierra. Did not know Beechcraft offered the option that you have. It is a good idea to get into the habit to transition into a complex aircraft one day. I enjoy all your videos. Great job.
Everything was custom fit or cut. Everything was stripped to bare metal in the plane.
Extra 1 week delay was due to ordering side windows and getting A&P on field to install them. Normally major renovation of this nature takes about 6 weeks.
beautiful!!! tell me. didnt you feel so great about flying it after the make over?:)
that panel makes round gauges look a lot less scary :P

Yes it did make me feel better! Not only visually but more padding in the seats for my rear end!

LOL, I get question all the time and when BFR comes around CFI reactions are priceless.
It is a factory installed training aid by Beech with the hopes the Sundowner flier will eventually upgrade to the Sundowner.
"Three green" do work even though the actual gear is fixed and welded at all times.

Did 43L look that nice new from Wichita?
YankeeAirPirate61 2 years ago
I bet it did in the 70's :-)) 30+ years sure takes it's toll on fabric!
Original color scheme really wasn't that bad considering the era it was built. I could have had the color burnt orange seats to replace! LOL.
