Thing is, Zidane was a thief and would spend time flirting with girls and obviously ust of been quite charismatic as people often looked to him for advice and leadership. Now if your a VA and the director gives you that information you really wouldn't come up with this voice.

In all it's an ok voice for this game, which isn't anything to take too seriously, but for most fans who know the charcter, it probably doesn't sit right.

I find Zidane's voice is adorable actually...lol, but maybe Vic may have been able to play around with it, but I also can't see Zidane with that kind of voice cause in FMA, Edward's more of a serious character then Zidane is....so I personly think a childish voice suits him...lol

Speaking of the JPN version, what about the Onion Knight's voice? He's human, yet his voice is deeper than Cecil's, Bartz's, and Tidus' and they are older than him.

That whole "Zidane-is-not-human" argument doesn't really fly. Seems like you're just fishing for a reason for him to have a voice like that. The English voice sounds just as youthful.

I found it kind of disappointing that Romi Park is doing the voice of Zidane, because... it just doesn't fit in with the monkey dude for some reason... same thing goes for Kuja, he sounds too squeaky, but over all, they don't sound extremely bad, you just have to get use to them talking i guess :P

I don't think her voice fits anyone she does. Zidane is 16 she makes him sound younger. Toshiro Hitsugaya from Bleach...his english dub VA is better because HE'S NOT YOUNG ENOUGH TO SOUND LIKE A KID. And Edward Elric...by the end of the series he is 18 years old...yet she makes him sound like a kid once again.

Its great to hear my favorite Final Fantasy protagonist in english. The deep,mature voice seriously fits him as a 16 year old thief. no the crystal ur talking about is acutally a summoning jewel that was destroyed because the power of summoning was 2 strong. but the one Zidane is looking for in Dissidia is at the end of the game when ur fighting Kuja (trance form) uhh no pun intended

they added the crystal cuz they wanted 2 combined the old Final Fantasy with the new Final Fantasy cuz VII, VIII (and i think X as well not 2 sure never played it yet) dont have crystals in the storyline

I always imagined Zidane's voice as more mature or deeper, this voice is a little too "out there", he sounds really, er, conceited? mostly when he says "too slow". Romi Paku had it perfect with her childish voice but at the same time serious. watching this video did make me get a little more acquainted with his voice but it's still horrid but I'm really dissapointed with Kuja's voice, not evil enough, however, imo, all the villains va's sound bad except the Emperor, he's perfect.

Yeah but just because Edward Elric's character voiced Zidane in the Japanese version doesn't mean that it should be the same for English. Zidane and Edward are two completely different characters with different personalities. I highly doubt that Romi Park was chosen just because of FMA. It would have been because they felt that her voice suited Zidane. And it should be the same with Zidane's English VA (which I personally like but YMMV).

Im not completely convinced (I remember Edward Elric being more prone to losing his temper than Zidane and not being as optimistic but I could be wrong) but I admit that I need to watch FMA again, although I never said that they were COMPLETELY different. Okay, Im fine with you being disappointed because Zidane wasnt what you expected but its not as if the actor was chosen just to spite people who wanted the Elric English actor.

You dont know most English dubs suck. Whether most English dubs suck is an opinion (which is why I said YMMV I personally think that while you still get bad dubs, English dubbing is slowly getting better and more directors are taking acting seriously when it comes to dubs). And Ive played FF IX a lot as well. It has a big place in my heart. I admit that I have watched very few episodes of FMA (although I am planning for this to change since I got Volume 1 a couple of days ago :))

"Slowly getting better"? They've been great for quite some time. The problem is that some narrow-minded people instantly think that the Japanese voices are always better and make that bias comparison between them and the so called "inferior" English voices.

And on top of that, these bias people won't even consider that Japanese fans highly dislike a large sum of Japanese voices that they (aka the bias people) love so much. Gotta love the irony.

That, while I get that you're disappointed because the voice is not what you expected or hoped, the directors should choose the voices for the characters because they heard the voices and went, "That interpretation sounds good. You're in!" not to get fans of certain actors to shut up. I'd love Quinton Flynn in the game but I don't want them to do that just so they'd get me to play the game! XD

I don't see anything wrong with his voice. I think that it suits his character (not that I have anythiing against the Japanese voice - but since I don't speak Japanese I can't tell if that voice is any good or not), if anything. The only problem I had was the 'Fly Away' line but I blame the translators for this, not the actor.

Actually, I heard from a few sites that people didn't like Zidane's voice and I expected the worst but now I'm pleasantly surprised.
