  • Excellent

  • It has been said many times since Bela Bartok (look him up on Wikipedia) said the first time in regards to muscians and competitions: "Contests are good for race horses."

  • WOW what talent!!!! i must get to see this guy! - but i bet he cant do that standing up!

  • @greyvictor

I used to play with John back when he worked playing music at Disneyland all day. Standing up. You lose!

  • I love it, I just wanna dance real hard when I hear this.Lol. And it takes more skill to play acoustic so efficiently.

  • damn this music gives me a headache

  • The rhythm guitarist is named Gonzalo Bergara and is an outstanding lead guitarist himself, check him out on YouTube!

  • I didn't see a ghost dance when i heard this. In stead I imagined myself being chased by angry gypsies through the backwoods of Poland, as they shout, "Get him! He deflowered my daughter!" Don't ask me why that's why they're angry at me...or why I'm a Nazi soldier in this scenario...that's what I see anyway.

  • @CourtJackal001 you are funny! links great gypsy guitar playing... Romane-Stochelo & Rosenberg Paco de Lucia from Andalucia (he is sooo soo great!) feature=related filmaker Tony Gatos "Vengos" plot told through singing and playing of gypsy music. version of " Nacio en Alamo

  • 0:53 looks like the tambourine guy is tapping on the guitar :D

  • jorgenson is a great guitarist...the man hits the right notes. He is one of the better gypsy players around right now. You can tell he is devoted to Django...but that might be his downfall.

  • Fuck adderall. Get kids with ADHD to play gypsy jazz. This is manic stuff, it'd probably cure them.

  • Love it

  • sweet violin!!!

  • for anyone looking for some clues to this tune i made a couple quick vids on my channel ....explained the parts up the guitar solo ......the strum pattern i explain for the intro is a shade basic but has the main accents ....i need to listen again to really get the gypsy flavor .....all in all i think the notes are reasonably accurate ....enjoy!

  • this is way of the charts........absolutely stunning!

  • I wanna play like that man

  • I WANT TABLATURES!

  • @pivotimbran i figured it all out last night ...took about 3 hours ....it's really clean and clear on WMP at 1/2 speed .....i'm gonna try and get into Tab Edit so they look pro ...if i can get Ghost Dance looking good on PDF i'll let you know ....

  • @sammyp1971 thanks man I really love this song so I can't wait for playing it ^^ I'm going to figure it out too tough

  • good as it gets

  • animal!!!!!!

  • Whoa!

  • Is that Gonzalo Bergara on rhythm guitar? I think it is. He has a pretty cool quartet these days.

  • Yes, it is.

  • FRENETIC!

  • Wow! I saw John at the Montreal Jazz Festival 2006 and was blown away. Thanks for posting this. How old is this perfomance?

  • Bergara , the argentine guy huh?

  • That's Gonzalo Bergara on Rhythm guitar, he's no slouch himself. Probably a more fiery player than JJ!

  • I agree

  • no doubts about it !

  • Had the pleasure of seeing the the JJQ two nights ago in a small venue (no more than 200 seats) that was close to where he grew up. I almost felt like and outsider at a family reunion. What a great showman. It is clear that not only is John Jorgenson incredibly talented, he is very personable and he is having a great time while he is onstage.

  • I absolutely love this. What talent!!

  • How cool is this?

  • Gives me goose bumps everytime ...

  • what a fantastic and magical tune ! Love it :-)

  • that kind of playing would make dead bones dance.

music is so powerful in so many ways.

this is a brilliant example of that power.

  • kuva jol csinaljak

  • He is Django at heart. What a bunch of REAL MEN. BLANKING GREAT

  • opa!

  • Take a look at Johns Clarinet playing!

  • una bestia peluda...muy zarpado

  • is the an original composition or an oldie??

ive just sorta discovered this stuff and cant get enough of it.

  • Ghost Dance is a Jorgenson original.

He writes some pretty cool stuff between this and the Helecasters.

  • I got to see these guys perform this live at Grema Mahr Center for the Arts in Madisonville, KY. It's even better live! Also, they have a new violinist...>.>

  • This one is a total bitch to play on clarinet! I would love to hear John do it on clarinet, and not change the key!! I love this tune!!

  • lol man that is the shit. the guitar on the same page with the violin sounds great. menacing fun

  • Believe it or not, he plays the clarinet BETTER than he plays guitar!

  • O RLY?

  • GYPSY SHRED GUITAR! OH YEAH

  • now here's a extremely versatile guitarist. He can play anything. Just check out his work with the hellecasters

  • Music and speed are totally different things ;)

  • You are correct my friend.....this man has mastered them both..Incredible...love your clarinet playing as well,,more more more

  • amen

  • @Alex156 should i buy you newspapers sherlock?

  • @Alex156

Yeah exactly. Who would try snorting a line of speed through their ear!!

  • yeah man someone has to have the tab

  • I bet he can whoop tail on X-Box!!!

  • Ultimate music

  • Err, hey I listened and gotta tell ya, a little of that goes a long LONG way.

  • someone has the tab?

  • Super Sound. You play relistick gipsy balkans sound. Bravo.

  • who the fuck cares about django beating jorgenson god damn it, it's a video of his playing a song, it's just that u fucking idiot. do you think he did that song thinkin' "oh yeah, im better than django" for gods sake, get a life men

  • @fede567 O_0

  • @SRSattern JJ was tapped to play Django in a movie. He had a prosthetic on his hand and played Django note for note with just two fingers. So basically, Jorgenson can play anything Django could and so much more. Your opinion obviously doesn't hold weight. Prove me wrong.

  • @MorganMeader the thing is though, anyone can learn a django solo but to improvise it is in a whole other league. I think john jorgenson writes his solos rather than improvising them

  • @mabyenot I suggest going to see him. I have, a dozen times and it gets better every time. Simply awe inspiring live. Improvisation is important in many forms of music but I would not mark the ability of a musician based solely on that. JJ is also very personable after the show and would be happy to answer any of your questions.

  • John Jorgenson is even a virtuoso on the Clarinet, which he picked up during the show I saw at the Laguna Amphitheatre.

  • I saw him at a church in San Diego and got to meet the whole band ... He wails on the Clarinet!

  • I know this guy. He and my dad played in a band in college, and I played Nintendo with him when I was 6.

  • I bet he kicked your arse on the NES with those bionic fingers!

  • I just saw him last saturday and he signed my Gitane! I have to say he is an incredible person as well as player. He was very humble. I loved everyone in the quintet. It was the best concert I have ever been to. Blown away the whole time

  • I got the opportunity to see the Quintet live about a year ago...before I knew anything about John Jorgenson or Gypsy Jazz. Whatever style you call it, the band is a group of skilled musicians who are very entertaining. I look forward to seeing them again in mid-August. I can't wait!

  • See him in person and you gain a better appreciation. He mixes things up well and adds in some great originals.

  • Django himself was only 1/2 gypsy, his biological father was a white european Jew by the name of Jean Weiss.

  • Lot's of DNA fascism goin on here, shame. Aren't all Django clones 99% plagiarism and 10% (sic) repetition anyway - what's soul got to do with guitar pluckers? Can blue men sing the whites? It's entertaining, and that should be good enough for anyone. Check out Tarif de Haidouks..

  • weyhey!! tonight!!! canny wait lol

  • lordkazama get a grip

  • Suprissimo!

  • Breathtaking! John and the entire Quintet are amazing!

  • i gypsie, and i fall into django, but this guy know the guitar well.

  • Please, if someone knows a song like this one, just post it, please!

This video is amazing!!! So entertaining!

  • i saw them last night, and they played this amazingly fast. it was epictaculartastic.

  • john did a clinic at my school a couple days ago... just him and his rhythm guitarist and it still blew me away. and this is coming from a fan of rusty cooley and jason becker and the like.

  • Who'd want to be a gypsy anyway - despite the OK music?

  • I think Jorgensen plays wonderfully, but some of ya are right,. He doesnt play like the real gypsies

  • Hellcasters here I come, jimigorilla. Thanks for the info.

  • The musicians don't have to be 'gypsies'. You would be surprised how many of these guys aren't, and how many of the 'real ones' live in a big house and drive a Mercedes (I know). Those that do have the ancestry are just lucky enough to be born into musical families with hard traditions. Just enjoy the music, if it's played good it makes our lives brighter!

  • lordkazama86 has every right to judge Gypsy playing, he is, after all, 1/3 Gypsy, himself.

  • He is playing tomorrow at a beautiful setting, great acoustical hall! Anyway, can't wait. I have front row center for 20 bucks. Can't beat it. PS Gypsy is just a term, no one is really Egyptian romers anymore! Peace

  • Jorgensen is a monster! Thanks for sharing. :)

  • This is great. electric!

  • That was really good....thanks for posting!!!!

  • Whoah! that was intense! Love it!
