We used to eat it in California at the fisherman's warf. They have some pretty good food down in Florida. I always heard about how great southern food is and than I come down and have to travel 2 hours to get something worth eating.

@Allina277 - I think the real reason that we are fat is our diet. It developed that way over time. Unhealthy foods in the Southern diet are mostly fast to cook, or can be baked in ovens in the old days that were outside of the house. That is a big deal when there are about 3 months in the year when it is about 100f every day. That is how I think we got our diet, especially fried foods which are fast and make little heat when cooked with an old wood stove.
