  • who ever took the sound of is a cunt!

  • Is there any instrument he can't play?

    He's amazing

  • jes ^^ he s playing a lot of ^^

    but no backpipe :(

  • man hes loving that marimba lol

the marimba is cool, it has been cool especially since satan came out

i dont care what anyone else says

the marimba and bagpipes were given a whole new coolness by jack and meg :D

  • When do they play the bagpipes?

  • not here but theres a few live performances of their song 'prickly thorn but sweetly worn' off icky thump.

also the bagpipes feature in the song 'st andrew (this battle is in the air' also from icky thump :)

  • @readydeady st. andrew and prickly thorn

  • I just garnered a whole new level of respect for him. The marimba is my favorite instrument to play, and Jack rocked it!

  • oh god! jack white on marimba! epic!

  • It was pretty tremendous.

  • Just flicking through my favourited YouTube vids and came across this one again. *Sigh.* I miss III Quid.

Times like these you need a TARDIS.

  • just wondering, where was this concert at?

  • Coney Island in 2005 I believe.

  • ok, thanks. it looked similar to the one i went to in colombia, MD in 05.

  • It was probably the same tour with the same stuff on stage then.

  • i love watching him play the marimba!

  • Its not even the full song wtf?

  • Yeah, jus the part with the instruments. People tend not to listen to my longer bits.

  • i think this song would be soooo much better if they got rid of the drums and stuff at 19...and the other spots in the song. i love the xylophones tho...

  • Marimba. Not xylophone.

  • right, but u no what i mean. whats the actual difference between them? i really wanna no. is it the kind of wood?

  • Yeah.

The xylophone is more articulate, and most commonly played with hard, platic mallets, making a non-ringing tone. Like in a normal room, with no accustic attributes, the xylophone wouldn't ring.

But the marimba is commonly played with nylon/yarn mallets, and has a small ring to it.

The Marimba has a longer range than the xylophone, going from A the the bottom of the bass staff ( and sometimes C below that), to the second C above the treble staff, while the xylophone is one octave shorter

  • cool thanks

  • amazinggg why oh why didnt u keep recording !! :'(

  • ikr?

  • huuhhhh?

  • i know right?

  • ohh i seee! :D

  • yes, its what all the kids these days are saying.

  • ohh i see ;)

  • I freaking love this song and I'm amazed how they remember all the blast spots <3.<3

  • wooooo

    he got skills

  • NURSE BETTY...WOW...she marrried the wrong guy. How stupid is that? A cool song but aren't they all?

  • no worries

  • its a pedal jack pushes to turn on his guitar and so its a feedback sound

  • see, I didnt know that. thanks

  • You can even see him kick the pedal right before the guitar blast comes on. Look at his right hip.

  • is it the white stripes or the rugrat theme song ?

  • its the white stripes, i labeled it and everything.

  • r u a gay or just a lesbian?

  • Where the hell is the guitar sound coming from?

Or is that just the video making the drums sound crappy?

  • When I first heard this song on their album, I didn't like it at all. But then I saw it performed live. It's the best song live I've ever heard. Amazing. Marimba solos? Insane! In a good way! Thanks for putting this up :D

  • my pleasure, It was the same with me, I was only a mediocre fan until I saw these cats live, they are the shiz-bam-bizzle.

  • i love meg.. and the nurse, its such an awesome song!

  • you can barely hear the people who paid money and stood in line for hours to hear their favorite band singing.

  • I wish that girl wasnt singing....she sucks

  • No one cares about you and your dad. Meg is an awsome drummer.

And this clip should be longer.

  • shes not supposed to be good

    but theyre awesomer with her

its about minimalism: creativity without too many opportunities

  • Dear God

Meg is intentionally naieve on drums

it is the reason they are the White Stripes

she is a basic drummer and it brings out the good of the band

the whole back to basic approach

I wish people would quick dogging her skills

  • Yeah, have you seen her on Screwdriver? See how fast she smashs that floor tom? I can't even do that.

  • Meg White is the reason i wanted to play drums. She's awesome!

  • meg white is AWFUL on drums..how can anybody say she is good.

somewhere in there jack explains why he doesnt want meg to get better

  • yhw4life, go to hell.

Meg White is a great drummer. You probably think she's bad because you're used to drummers who are fast and have big drum kits and are full of power. Well, Meg plays drums in a style called "minimalist". She brings a childlike sound to The White Stripes, and without her, The Stripes would be nothing.

  • no. Meg White plays drums in a style called "shitty". She's awful...get over it.

  • She is not awful. If you drummed in a minimalist style, you'd probably adore her drumming. She is actually sometimes pretty good on the drums. She doesn't drum like heavy metal drummers or Bozzio or Neil Peart or whoever you like, because those drummers have complex and completely different styles. Meg is a great drummer when it comes to minimalism, and she will always be a good drummer, no matter what you call her.

  • I agree with you, leave Meg alone, she is a better drummer than me.

  • Bad drumming is when you can't keep the beat or when you can't play what you're trying to play. Everything else is style and personal taste. Meg plays what she wants to play and other people like it too- so what's shitty about that?

  • Exactly, that's what narrow-minded anti-stripes people need to realise; that it's their style of music and not incompetence.

  • Meg is a great minimalist drummer. She knows when not to play.

  • She isn't the best drummer but she matches with the band. Dave Grohl is the the best drummer!

  • I love this song! Jack White is a genuis!! Meg White is the best drummer...she's so original!!
