However, this was one of the most amazing moments in hockey history - a group of American College Players, playing on guts and heart, beating the fearsome, and professional, i might add, Soviets. It was nice to win the gold this year (2010) but it doesn't rank with either the Miracle on Ice, or the Summit Series - the biggest hockey series of all time. :)

All fun aside... I grow up in a football home. Dad played pro, brother and uncle played pro. Then my step Dad at 10 yrs old induced me to hockey. Loved it all my life, broke the mold and played hockey.

I live in texas and when ppl ask me if i play sports i say hockey, i get laughed at! not because of my skill but because no won plays hockey in texas and thinks there is no ice! And even when there is ice time its limited! In canada hockey is part of there heritage. you play on ponds at rinks in your backyard any time you get. Its all dependent on climate! canada does have better players but thats because more ppl play!
Well considering about 3 states in the US actually care about hockey i would actually say that we are doing pretty well. The hockey games in the South dont come close to selling out and most southern states dont have hockey programs so yes, we dont produce many. But, the states that do play produce a ton. michigan and new york especially.

Sorry but the Russians day of glory for ice hockey is over. Canada has some of the best players and America can compete on the world stage as well. Sorry Russians but admit it the bad ol days of the Soviet empire is over.

one more thing.....its a tradition in canada even though and it snows in every part of that country....if it would snow in florida i bet they would produce some hockey players
and russians breed those kids at young age to be athletes....kids dont even use pucks at practice untiul their 10, they get them to become good skaters....

lol i know you wrote this 5 month ago but.....when you say registered im assuming you mean highschool players, and their are quit a few players from cali,ohio,virginia, even in texas and florida...and all those kids fucking blow at hockey....most kids that are good are in 4 northern statesplus alot of americans go to canada to play juniors...

i kinda agree with you but usa has easy schedule 3 cupcakes first 3 games to get points than game 4 play Canada but they might not matter that game for them to move to the quarter finals but i agree russians 1 but czechs are better than people know as well

great job streczy19! Hockey in the us is a joke! except a few states! I live in texas and when ppl ask me if i play sports i say hockey, i get laughed at! not because of my skill but because no won plays hockey in texas and thinks there is no ice! And even when there is ice time its limited! In canada hockey is part of there heritage. you play on ponds at rinks in your backyard any time you get. Its all dependent on climate! canada does have better players but thats because more ppl play!

Well considering about 3 states in the US actually care about hockey i would actually say that we are doing pretty well. The hockey games in the South dont come close to selling out and most southern states dont have hockey programs so yes, we dont produce many. But, the states that do play produce a ton. michigan and new york especially.

It isn't a fluke when you come back to tie in every single quarter and then hold out in the last that is just plain logic...yea if they had scored one ahead in the last second...maybe a lucky shot but not three times in a row...its stupid to think otherwise...

The US believed they could do it and had a lot of talent. The Soviets were already thinking it was in the bag, but the US shocked them. They had lost previously against the Soviets and they knew how to beat them. The US was simply the better hockey team that year.

Unfortunately the US team was not the better team. They just happened to hit the 1 time out of 10 that they would win against the soviets. Had Tretiak stayed in the game, the outcome might have been a lot different
