  • nyc is changeing fast its become for the rich

  • Division of Housing and Community Renewal has launched a complaint line for tenants of State-supervised Mitchell-Lama properties (both rental and cooperative).

Tenants in Mitchell-Lama developments can register complaints about their apartment, building or complex twenty-four hours per day. The new complaint line -- 1-866-463-7753 -- is toll free and will be manned by the Office of Housing Operations from 9 AM to 5 PM. Tenants may also leave a voicemail message after business hours.

  • You see, government doesn't listen until things start to get set on fire or lives are lost :(

  • You are absolutely correct, however,we as tenant need to get involve and not wait until the last minute. Tenants out number the landlords and with a strong coalition of tenats we can make our voice heard, especially when it's time to vote. We can change these laws that favor the rich and landlords. It seems that the gov't forgot about the working class.

  • Thats really interesting ....

  • Jose M. Serrano What is he doing about this problem? What is his stance on this issue? He needs to start responding to these issues. People should start sending him email..and letters about this issue. Or we need to start organizing to do some lobbying for a better rent control law.

  • I absolutely agree with you. Our city council women(district 8) is working in this area to help preserve what ever is left of affordable housing. Also, NYS Division Of Housing And Community Renewals has this issue as a priority which also includes rent stabilize and rent control apartments. We just have to wait and see what happens. As far as Jose M. Serrano, I have not heard too much from him as to being a strong advocate on affordable housing.

  • Very nice job reporting. Well done!

  • Thank you...It's all relative-as a result of lack of affordable housing-the rate of homeless families/individuals have increased.

There is a DHS office/agency at 33 Beaver Street in Manhattan, I see you were not able to enter the building. The camera is a very effective tool for reporting-keep up the good work!
