  • Such a shame so many episodes are missing.

  • I take that back, this is EXCELLENT WORK.

  • @sirtinycreep If you like this have a look at The tenth planet episode 4 redux 1,2 and 3 or have a look at The Web of fear episode 2 part 1 and 2 avi

  • @DRRevamp I will do. Thanks!

  • Good effort.

  • SUPERB RECONSTRUCTION!!

  • Interesting animation style. I kind of like it. It does make the recon a bit more watchable.

  • Good effort, great idea. This is great, with this technique you could only improve in time

  • What is this? Monty Python?

    Monty Python's flying taaaaardissssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

  • It looks like something from south park!

  • So creepy, but very effective. Well done

  • Very entertaining, good work.

  • Clever idea! Maybe the BBC could try that, considering all the telesnaps and audio they might still have in their archives.

  • YOUR VIDEOS ROCK !!!

  • Absolutly just an amazing remake of such a classic episode. The BBC should be looking at people such as yourself. I have Aspergers which means i find it hard to listen to Audio and visualise things. This really made it work for me. I could actually imagine that first 2nd Doctor Episode just as it was shown in the 60s. Bloody brilliant

  • this is bad

  • if they were good actors in realistic in prosthetics - no reason why it couldnt be re-constructed- and re-made to the same style and quality of a scanner darkly.

  • This is fantastic! Thanks! :D

  • This is brilliant!

  • This looks so weird.

  • Thats funny 2nd doc dancing like a n00b.

    lol nicely done

  • This is the most hilariously awesome reconstruction. x)

  • know the best way to reconstruct Dr Who but it would be expensive and time consuming..what you do is re-film new actors miming (but acting well) to the original soundtrack.. but here is the brilliant bit.. all the actors would be wearing prosthetics to look like the original actors.. then finally the whole thing is rotoscoped in full colour exactly like the film "A Scanner Darkly". Have a look at clips of the film "A scanner darkly" and compare that in stlye to "telesnaps".

  • @ryanbrownnew I think that would be awwwfull. You can't replace the original actors.

  • Excuse me, DRRevamp, may I use this audio for my own recon? I've been trying to find one without narration, and was wondering if I could capture and use this one.

  • @FishWRabies You can use the audio by all means just as long as you acknowledge that it was me that edited the audio

  • I wonder if I took some LSD today!!

  • bbc morons

  • bbc morons

  • "But who are we!?"

"Dont you know?" That was hilarious xD

  • Very creative and close to the original.Well done

  • amazing thnx 4 putting this up r u making a part 3??

  • Nice work putting this together.

  • WHY DID BBC HAVE TO DELETE IT, NOW WERE STUCK WITH STUPID AUDIO TAPES AND SCREENSHOTS

  • this is terribly important

  • Would've been much better if they just animated it with characters who look like the actors, this way is too annoying

  • Very cool! Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 15 people are colour blind.

  • @ 4:48 lol

  • Speechless, this is absolutely amazing

  • at the moment i'm bizzy making a recon of this ep

  • @Goomstudios10 looking forward to seeing your recon.

  • wtf is this SOUTH PARK? Lol

  • I heard that the regenerated clothes was because his body released A LOT of energy as a result of not being used to the process.

  • My only niggle with it is that you've used the 70's era TARDIS interior

  • This is the best recon I've ever seen.

  • Sueprmarionation invades Doctor Who!

    (That's what it looks like)

    But it's still entertaining!

  • I love this completely and utterly!

*shakes fist at BBC for their 'infinite wisdom' Grrrrr...grumble grumble grumble!

  • Quite extraordinary.

  • LOL @ 5:38 Terry Gilliam!!!

  • the likeness is very good, espeically close ups and expressins. this stuff is tedious to do for one person. I always liked that mirror image of Hartnell.

  • coo--this looks a bit creepy! LoL. But it is pretty cool

  • Must have been a fun project. It'll be a similar game-plan that the BBC and the reconstruction team will probably end up refining one day, using the gallery of existing images and sound, some decent money / software behind it - then ZAP - like Frankensteins monster, Power of the Daleks will live again.....

  • i like the old music better than the new music, dont ask me why

  • ...Man whose weird twiches....its good but really awkward to watch

  • this is too weird for my liking. I;ll stick with the photo/audio/clip b/w version.

  • wtf is with the people in the tardis looking like a cartoon

  • somebody told me that most of the episodes were erased, are there still more missing episodes out there?

  • @emancoy There are over a hundred missing episodes from the 60s, mostly Troughton's, but there are a few Hartnells too.

  • @cantanstrophe over a hundred episodes? Oh that is so sad!

  • @emancoy Tomb of the Cybermen was found in the early 90s in Hong Kong after an audit. I am confident the rest are out there somewhere. Marco Pollo was given to 23 countries yet somehow all of those are missing

  • is this the real audio?

  • @greatsayain

Yes It is mostley it is an edit of the audio as released from the BBC

  • A nice effort.

  • Thank you for this ive been a dr who fan for over 25 yrs and this helps piece things together! Thanks

  • what can i say? your the king!!!!

  • We need the TARDIS to go and get these episodes!

  • Why on Earth did they decide to wipe, of all episodes, each episode in the Second Doctor's first serial?

  • @thedoctorand At the time BBC didn't show repeats. How times have changed

  • South Park meets Doctor Who :)

  • For all those people who take the piss out of your efforts ....let them have a go.

  • His clothes regenerated as well?

  • @Monkofmagnesia Yeah- random continuity error

  • Even if it's a bit pythoneque, you are right, this is a lot more watchable than other recons. Very well done. Some of the shots, with some 60's grading and a black and white filter, could be even mistaken for clips from the original.

  • Umm if the BBC was dumb enough to delete these episodes, why do they still have the audio??

  • @InsaneGenius3x17 Most of the audio is captured by viewers who recorded the audio themselves.

  • @HandmadeMercury Why didn't they record the video also?

  • @InsaneGenius3x17 This was in 1966. VCRs weren't sold until 1971. I suppose someone could've bought a VTR, since they were released in 1950-something, but they cost like $50,000.

  • @HandmadeMercury That's crazy. Nowadays you can just record stuff on your TV...And it only took us 50 years to figure it out. Holograms next?

  • We're used to regenerations now. But back then it was completely unprecidented. Imagine what it must have been like watchng this for the first time! The audience would have been as bewildered as Ben and Polly!

  • Good god this is COOL =) You really worked hard on this!

  • Monty pythons Flying TARDISSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! ....ok this is creepy!

  • *Whistles the Liberty Bell March*

  • @295route yeeaaah there might be a few problems remaking the five doctors because the forth doctor didn't want to come back so early after leaving and right now 3 ofthe doctors are dead...

  • Excellent! Must have taken a lot of time. It does look a bit Python-ish, but in a good way, and I think you've captured the spirit of the thing.

  • That must have taken ages to do, ticked the like box. 10/10 for effort.

  • You're an absolute star my friend! Something like this has to be incredibly difficult to put together - yes, there may be some funny shots with the arms and legs in places - but it's got to be one of - if not the best recreations on You-Tube! Would love to see you do this with the entire story! I love the Loose Cannon recons - but the regular movements between scenes here keeps it watchable and entertaining. You've done a stunning job on it - keep up the good work....

  • brilliant work here mate, I could very much watch this as it is a lot more watchable than a recon, although nothing can replace the real thing (I can never forgive the BBC for the junkings) This is the best video of the lost episodes, I salute you!

  • Thank you for the recon and posting. It is good to have this until it is found. People do not ge to go back in time or travel in space to monitor this episosde, so this is good.

  • Where did u get the un-narrated soundtrack from?

  • You are Terry Gilliam and I claim my £5!!!!

  • @DarkAngel182

Sorry I am not Terry Gilliam but thanks for the compliment.

  • Really good.Well done.Just a subjective view, but it might have been more authentic in black and white.

  • why are all these episodes lost?

  • @softcellrock Because the BBC in their Infinite wisdom decided to erase the Tapes and re use them.

  • Wow. Thier smart. How come. Are these episodes anywhere at all?

  • Well back in the 1960s there were no home video releases so nobody at the BBC expected these episodes would ever have any further use.

  • Recording media was very expensive back in the 60s. It made a lot of sense to re-use recording media. They didn't expect that people born in the 80s and 90s would want to watch them.

  • True. But it is such a great show!

  • wow ....clever

  • @DRRevamp They got rid of old Beatles clips too. You know that scene in The Chase where Ian dances to Ticket To Ride? That's the only remaining clip of that concert left.

  • @DRRevamp I thought i heard that they destroyed them and one day someone found them before another batch was off to be destroyed.

  • @LoveTimeLord too bad this show was not transmitted to the USA before 1973-74 like the 50's series robin hood -not PT's version- so we'd have a USA archive that would have been never destroyed. All the episodes of Robin hood exist and part of a very multiple disc set. All we can hope for is the existance of possibly some imported prints that gone to Austraila or new Zealand or somebody rich enough back then to have owned an early videotape recorder and saved episodes...

  • @DRRevamp If they saved them they could have made tens of thousands on VHS,DVD sales. …DOH!

  • @DRRevamp A lot of them were lost in a fire as well, if I recall correctly

  • @wissam24 I don;t think many were in a fire as most were lost simply by wiping the tapes, and also film copies, to reuse them. episodes 4 and 5 of the Reign of Terror were lost in an bombing though I believe, which is why on the other four episodes were returned when that country, whatever it was, was checked.

  • @DRRevamp actually no.... there was a fire at the bbc, and many of the tapes were damaged, in the archive, so they bought recorded tapes from fans, and what they couldnt get they used individual pictures and wrote the actions from the scripts. They got very few from fans cause DVR's werent exactly abundant in 1963

  • @DRRevamp Or, lost them in the fire that they had. Were they using Silver Nitrate, or what? I know that Silver Nitrate was very bad for fires.

  • @1958debs The BBC used Safety film stock, not Nitrate.

  • @DRRevamp Hey they were expensive back then :P It was film wheels which were high cost and they couldn't just keep them in storage.

  • @softcellrock Hey they were expensive back then :P It was film wheels which were high cost and they couldn't just keep them in storage.

  • @DRRevamp I wonder what the BBC taped over the old Dr Who episodes. Star Trek probably.

  • @randomdave30 My vote is U. F. O. or some other wanker crap.

  • @DRRevamp that and they stored them improperly and many were damaged beyond repair

  • @DRRevamp Actually they reused the tapes and burned the 16mm film prints that were returned... thankfully 2 people in the private community recorded the original broacasts on audiotape, which is the only reason we still have these along with a few cuts and the Cura telesnaps... Many other programs didn't survive the incinerator. So we are in some ways lucky to have what we have. Thanks to Ian Levine, who even if a bit wonky did save "The Daleks" along with other film of Doctor Who episodes

  • WEll Done !!! ;-)

  • The Doctor really isn't helping convince Ben and Polly who he is by referring himself in the third person.

  • HAHAHA Ben's eyebrows at 5.26!! Priceless! What a fantastic recon this is. And I thought the recon I did was good...

  • This is really good! Must have taken ages to do!

  • I agree - this sort of work is enormously appreciated by fans of such a brilliant show - if we carry on like this - CGI / colour CGI / remastered - we'll do all the work of the beeb for them - ie no need for them to dilly dally with promised animated recons - and we'll also rectify the terrible wrongs done in the first place when these were deleted / lost etc - thanks again!

  • this is a brilliant recon

  • Its nice to see some of the old stories being constructed, and this as a great job thank you.

  • Would also be nice to reconstruct The Five Doctors with the origional script where the 4th Doctor was more involved.

  • Yes i agree it was a shame tom baker wasnt much in it as it would make the story longer and i think it would be better, great idea as that would well be worth doing.

  • Great!!!

  • This is fantastic! Well done.

  • i thought this was lost

  • are you be going to make the time middler in colour?

  • this isn't bad...

  • Oh my God, it's Monty Python's Flying TARDIS. :-P

  • You beat me to the puch four weeks early! That's EXACTLY what I was thinking! :-D

  • @NyeTunes OMG YES witih teh bicycle and the dropping dead. Now where'd I out Brave Sir RObin...

  • Neato

  • they might as well animate it really.looks very odd.

  • Outstanding work!

I haven't really seen any of the old 1960s Doctor Who episodes, but I have to say this is very watchable. The animation and colour really bring it to life. Great work DDRevamp!

  • DRRevamp, respect!

  • After Watching Power of the Daleks Episode 1 Part 2 Take a look at The Tenth Planet Episode 4 Part 1

  • This absolutely F****ING BRILLIANT!!

Years I have waited for this.!!

  • This is brilliant.

  • can i ask something? can you do this for "The Daleks"? i mean colored version

  • Intensely watchable!

  • Power of the Daleks in Colour Part 2 is now on line.

I appreciate all the comments made and I hope that you enjoy part 2 as much.

  • Did you see that somone else who animated "The Tenth Planet" episode 4 is animating all the episodes of this. It is good you fixed this episode before he did then.

  • this is amazing!!! i really got into it please do more!!!!!!!

  • this is just amazing, its the best thing ive ever seen. you should get a job at the BBC

  • Part 2 Is On Its way!

  • are you going to make a part 2

  • You are a genius! This must have taken ages to do. This is how a recon should be done. I was actually enjoying this. It is a pity that this had to end. I would have paid for the whole serial. Please keep up the good work!

  • You should be incredibly proud of yourself. You are a credit to us Dr. Who fans. Thankyou ever so much for posting this! I adore your work. I would love to see more of this in the near future. An astounding approximation of what the original broadcast would have been live in November '66.

  • Best. Fan Recon. Ever. I've realised what makes telesnap recons ordinarily so dull - it's the lack of lip-sync that makes it impossible to engage with with the material.

While the proportions go skew-wiff on the heads a lot of the time, this is actually a very watchable effort. I hope you do more, and perhaps watch the size of the different elements as you go along.

It would be better in black and white, but as you're not matching it to existing footage, no need really - can be turned off...

  • Charming stuff indeed! A great effort indeed. Just getting into it as well...

  • Very well done.

  • This works rather well in places! Bloody well done! Its a cracking story to be sure.

  • Interesting technique. I look forward to seeing more. Seems to work better for small and slow movements than large rapid ones. When the Doctor danced it might have looked better if you made the upper and lower legs seperate elements and allowed his knees to bend. Overall though definitely worth persuing.

  • I'm actually rather enjoying this, but I wish it was in black and white.

  • Monty Python Called - they want their animation back :)

  • hey mate, this is excellent stuff! Looking forward to see the other work you'll be doing on this story!

  • this is great work mate, i am very happy to be watching power of the daleks finally.

    keep these coming :)
