hi dude, you really got a nice sound! could you tell me the name of the microphone you use to record with such a good sound!? i have the same drum and I also love the yamaha sound!
Good drumming bro, but for your benefit (not anyone else's), relax your arms a bit, you'll get more accomplished with less energy. Loosen your wrists a little bit. It's like they say with dancing...loosey goosey.. :-)
dont listen to those fools who think there correct and all technical about drumming.. you good, keep drumming bro. and im getting the same kind of set next week
the way you play makes me think your have sped up the movie. but the symbal crash tells me diferant. relax i would start again from basics and just work back up but be more relaxed! your awesome but i would try to relax beause it will help in the long run :) hehe
Hey! Can you say me what is the model of your hit-hat and the patch of your bass drum? its sound is perfect for me!! Thanks and sorry for my poor english man hehe..
@RadioJack well i don't know exactly what type of wood it is but you can find it at google (type: "yamaha stage custom" it's the wood colour one) check it out
20" is more for jazz or hip hop sometimes 22" is a really good all around kick. It's pretty much the standard in most music situations. But it depends on what you want your sound to be. As one would imagine, the 22" kick is a bit deeper and fuller. I personally like the 22".
I'm using an AKG C3000 as the overhead mic and an Audix D6 on the Kick drum placed directly in the hole in the resonant head . Everyone complements the sound, those two mics are the reason the kit sounds as good as it does.
Are coated heads better than clear heads? I have a Yamaha stage custom but i dont know if coated heads work.. What do guys recomend like for gospel music, clear or coated?
I have an Evans Genera Hd Dry head on the stare. The snare is a Pearl 5.5 free floating brass. It tends to be a really live snare with a lot of natural overtones, which is why I like it and why i got it. But the Hd Dry head tones down the overtones enough for a good balance.
This is how he looks when he plays drums, all the time, ever since I knew him. It's his style; looking like he is about to burst any second. He is also a jerk.
Unless you really want some extra toms or something, I'd stick with this kit. Sounds tight, fits well with you playing style. Use the money to invest in some extra cymbals instead I'd say.
Yeah, I have a Gretsch Catalina Ash set. And, Gretsch makes the best drums out there!! I've never really cared for satin finish coated toms. But, hey, whatever floats your boat. You sound awesome!
Is like the Stage Custom that they made in the 90's? Or is the more recent line? I'm asking because I may buy a used one, but have no idea how they sound (Except this vid, in which everything sounds great!) Thanks
I'm pretty sure the line started in the early 2000's. I first heard the kit in 03 and loved the sound of the kick and snare. and the toms were great too when tuned up well. Price to quality ratio on stage custom advantages is pretty remarkable. I've heard of a lot of studio engineers who like recording this kit. but try to play one before you buy it. I am a big fan of tama starclassics and pearl masters series. play, listen then buy. good luck!
funny you mention that on this video . . cuz this is a Pearl freefloating brass snare. but your right they make good snares. my yamaha snare is my favorite.
actually yeah the only resonant head i replaced was on the kick drum which actually made an incredible difference in the sound of the kick. 30 bucks very well spent. all the toms have stock resonant heads though.
Where is your mid tom ???

nice kit, nice head, but you no resonance on those toms. way to dry... I don't see anything on them, so it might be mics.
Advice: see the sticks as extensions of your arms, relax and put some soul. Obviously you can play but you need to be one with the kit
