he wasnt running fraps. When you start fraps you get a little counter up on top but it does not effect performance. When people say running fraps they mean you use the program to record video. It effects performance because the program is writting shit on your harddrive as you play, since its recording video.

This is the demo, so it is not using multiple cores (if this guy has them), so if you have a dual core and service pack 1 it should run better. A big graphics card only helps a bit, i have an 8400gs and it runs fine, all on ultra high at about 15 fps (fine for me) even in dense areas.

ok, everybody listen up. as you can see here, although he has 10 frames a second, you also have to remember he is flying over friday harbor in washington. there isnt alot of autogen in that area. he would be getting about 2 fps if he was at KLAX with everything maxed out. so, lesson learned. even the best video cards cant play this game on full sliders.

In truth, the 8800GTX does not greatly outperform the 7950GT. You must take into account how the graphic card and its drivers uses the available RAM and other memory that can be used as shared graphics memory to increase the overall graphics power. My computer setup runs better than most other computers because people think you need the 8800 cards to run FSX well but really all you need is a solid setup. The 7950GT is not old either. My 600+ videos prove my computer runs FSX well...........

the ultra isn't just an overclocked GTX, that would be an 8800GTX OC2. The ultra has a different layout design to allow for better cooling aswell. technically only the clocks are higher, but an 8800gtx doesn't have the same OCing capabilities as an ultra.

Thanks for this demo! The framerate benchmark was something I was looking for, as I wanted to make sure my machine wasn't running like complete crap. I'm running almost the exact same system as you, except I have dual-8800GTS (overclocked), and I was hitting 15-25fps depending on the area (maxed). i can crank everything all the way up as well.and i have an X1900XT.its not the video card that determines your FSX performance.its your cpu...it doesnt even matter if u have 2 8800's.if u have an athlon 64 or pentium 4,then u wont get any good performance out of this game.before i upgraded i had an athlon 64 3700(2.6GHz).with SP1 installed i got decent frames.but when i got my core 2 everything changed.

well, with vista everything gets slowed down, 2 gigs is plenty for games, but if you want less glitches then try a dual boot with XP on one hard drive (u can get them cheap for like $70), and on your existing hd use vista, put games that require vista on the vista hd, and every other game or file on xp, it will take a while to set up, but it will be worth it in the end

No. that is not a good card for Flight Simulator X (oliboy12), try dual XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX in SLI, they r only $120-$140 (US $), and you will get much more performance for that price range, and if your an ATI fan, then try the SAPPHIRE 100186L Radeon X1950XT

You have to remember that this is the very glitchy and slow demo also in the game there is a lot of fps tweaks such as reducing the amount of different trees for example more of the same trees that greatly reduces the fps and theres some things that really hit the fps that u dont actually need on so i think that it will be good fps and will my 8800GTS last me a long time, or is it pretty rubbish and not worth making comapred to the GTX

RedViper101 - The coding is ace, it is just DX9 that is holding it back - mate, you will get around 30-50fps (since it's coded in DX10 firstly, which is 4 x more efficient, as far as unified shaders and shader model 4.0 control goes)
