Apparently "Section 11(q) of the Federal Reserve Act codified at 12 U.S.C. § 248(q)" designates their security as "Federal Law Enforcement Officers". From what I can gather, they went from rent-a-cop to Federal Agent per the PATRIOT ACT! Worse yet, their authority now extends to "anywhere performing official duties".

I personally know the Female security guard and she is nice as the day is long.You have no idea how many wack jobs come on that property and create disorder. She was being very nice to your cameramen and she was just following procedure..I cannot speak for the other officer as i do not know him. Apparently "Section 11(q) of the Federal Reserve Act codified at 12 U.S.C. § 248(q)" designates their security as "Federal Law Enforcement Officers". From what I can gather, they went from rent-a-cop to Federal Agent per the PATRIOT ACT! Worse yet, their authority now extends to "anywhere performing official duties".

@hotheadedjoelhaha With money & a corp, you could form a private police force. AFAIK, you could just do it. Mall cops are private police forces. They can arrest, but are more apt to detain until regular authorities arrive.
To gain Fed powers, one must attend training and gain certification by FLETA.
Also, Officer Joe, as a citizen of the US, if you witness a crime committed in your presence, you CAN make a Citizen's Arrest! But, you are not protected against civil liabilities like "real" cops.

Wikipedia: "Following the passage of updated legislation by Congress after 9/11 that designated Federal Law Enforcement Authority to system officers, authority now extends to wherever a Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officer is performing official duties."
In their 2005-2006 semiannual report to Congress (pg 18), it mentions "The USA PATRIOT Act of 2001 granted the Board certain federal law enforcement authorities". Seems their oversight=THEM!
