Sounds like you're at a concert. Do the drums give you that "Thud" in the chest like at a real live event twenty feet from the band? I'm stuck between Cornwalls, RF7II's, or La Scalas?
Hello 300cya! I have a suggestion for you. I noticed that you don't have a audio EQ. In my opinion it is a must have for adjusting various sound frequecy's on the left & right chanels. Trust me. Once you own one, you will NEVER play your system again without it. You will not need to up the volume as much and the sound ambiance will be AWESOME! Trust me. Try ebay ( ASAP) for a SoundCraftsman 2215 R EQ's or any decent Pioneer SG model EQ. ...Good Luck ! Keep on Rockin in the free world...
I just know it will blow your ass off if I crank it , and I guess u have to be here to know . Listening to 6,000 dollar speakers through an I Phone might have something to do with it ,
To put all the speculation to rest...This is a classic example of poor source material. The reflective room, SS amp, and camera might not be helping matters, but has anyone else listened to this song personally with headphones?? It's not mixed very well. The guitars and drums were heavily compressed (not in a good way) when they were recoded. Kravit's voice is about as wet as it gets and that just exacerbates the cacophony. Take a listen for yourself. A tough track for ANY system to play well.
@costellom5 well, its filmed with a digital camera. Bet you like the boom boom noise maker crap huh... Actually, theres alot of base here just cant tell unless u hear it in person. You can ask my neighbors...ha
@300Cya not really.i like it balanced.my amp has the treble and bass set to 0
and if i want some more bass i turn it up just a little.i don't like hearing that thump that's not natural,it's more like the speaker itself makes the noise
@costellom5 that's the carecteristical sansui's g family sound , very bright and like our friend saids with deep bass , for people like us who really think it's too colorful there is a hi filter on the receiver, but I prefer my self the old 1000 valve receiver, in my opinion state of art at his days...
@GABER222 No, but i would love to!! My plan is to one day get a nice tube amp.. I hear thats the way to go with Klipsch speakers. Have you heard them with tube amp?
@300Cya never run Klipsch speakers.... but I do run rear-loaded horn speakers (Fostex drivers) with tube gear. I imagine they would share some of the same sound qualities since both are very efficient. I think your big horns would benefit from some tube-sound for sure.
@GABER222 i've read on the klipsch forums how good they sound with tube gear. i really dont need half the power i have now. i have heard thats the best way to appreciate this type speakers (tube gear).....You should post some vid of yours. would like to hear it!
@300Cya .. I will try to get a video up... but have been unable to find the charger.. plus it's a crummy little camera. If you go to Flickr.com and search for "Dared VP-845" you will see pics of my listening room setup..... the current setup is the 2nd pic from the left.... on the black audio stand.
@300Cya ... I usually buy gear on Audiogon. But I scored that one on Ebay. They retail for $3500... but usually sell for $2000 - $2500 new. Got it from the original owner (he had it about 3 mos) for under $500! He had a reserve of $1k on it... but it was a few bucks short on the 1st auction... he relisted it w/ no reserve. Nobody realized it... and I just threw a bid up there and ignored it. I was shocked when I got the email notiftying me that I won. I could never sell it now.
@300Cya ... It would be the perfect amp for your speakers ... it's a Dared VP-845 S.E.T. (single-ended triode) amplifier. Low power .. about 30-watts, and specifically designed for speakers with high-efficiency / high-sensitivity like your horns.
@GABER222 Thats exactly what i plan on doing. Not only does it sound great im sure but it looks great too. What i have now is cool but its way too much power. I have looked on ebay for tube amps also and have seen some very nice gear but i didnt know much at all about what type would be best with what i already have.. Now i have a brand name to look for. Thanks!
I have the klf 20s with klf7 center and the bookshelf's with the8's for surround and vel. Hgs18sub. Although I have krells1200 preamp uncomp. Moviesand DVD audio and sacd through blu ray oppo. Since I got the krell, my CDs are harsh in the treble on the Sony es, but through the oppo and DVD audio, huge diff,
I have never had the pleasure, but I own a pair of KLF-20's and love them, and my experience is they sound WAY better in person. Love the vintage setup! Very nice! Were you playing it quite loud? Thanks for sharing!
@jrbuck9669 Thank you and yes i had it cranked up pretty good. It really doesnt take much power to get very loud. It sounds like "live" music. The receiver volume control goes up to 100 and it probably was on 25-30 . It will crank up to a level you can scream as loud as you can and you will NOT even hear youre own voice and it is still clear as can be. I play it loud often and never get past 40 on the volume control. Wish you could really hear it. Thanks again!
