Well the point of the cover is to maintain a balance of keeping the original flair of the song while putting your own style in it. I think these guys were successful with that. There are certainly worse covers and there may be better covers, but this is a good song.
Having listened to all 3 versions now, I can safely say I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Though personally Gilmour's is the version I'll always look for.
I like Monster Magnet however only one person can do this song and that guy is Mr. David Gilmour. Great effort though. Still would give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
This is an ok cover. I like how they kept some of the Gilmour style in it. But, by no means in my opinion does it hold a candle to Gilmour's version. I dont think anybody could do it as good as he did. Not as much feeling put into, or coming out of this verson.
@MastaChief117 thats so right ....gilmours so deep inside his songs he does magic with his guitar he doesnt simply play it and his voice is terrific ....
the are not saying the verse, " and ever was there an answer? not with out listening, not with out seeing! " that's the changing point to the song the part where, where the singer is asking God if the answer was ever given. and Gods reply was "you have to listen and watch, you cant help pay attention if your helping make noise"
Interesting version. Too bad they blew off the middle section of the song that goes" And ever was there an answer..." But they've got good taste in covering it, though I prefer Unicorn's original recording.
Originally by a band named Unicorn...which was produced by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour..whom did his own version for his solo cd "About Face"..the chain continues. This version is interesting as well....
@appelpung Kenny Baker wrote some great lyrics, and Gilmour totally brought Unicorn to the little bit of fame they did get. Sort of like Eric Clapton did for Bob Marley on a much smaller scale.
@TimmyOswald the person is either liked or dislike, nobody can bring anyone to fame except themselves.......people don't like others because they are told too, they have talent, 'nuff said

A good song is a good song...
Unicorn's version was very well done and enjoyable.
David Gilmour's version was bluesy, soulful, and just possessing of that emotional intensity that volume and heaviness just can't match.
Monster Magnet's version is interesting and a valiant effort to make the song their own, so kudos to them.
I say again, a good song is a good song...

wow, this is terrible. after Gilmour's cover of the original by Unicorn, i'd say no one should ever touch this song again.

Gilmour wasn't at the session that night when it was written. It is on David Gilmour's first album.
