This is a very impractical video for non martial artists. He is assuming the guy is the same height or smaller than you. And doesn't outweigh you by 50 or more lbs. Finally, your attacker maybe coming at you with the knife moving quickly, too.

I think it would be a safer option to grab the knife hand with both hands, two hands over powering one (your attacker may be a big fucker) push his arm back towards him, then still keeping hold of his wrist, stomp and kick the fuck out of the nearest knee cap. The cunt will soon go down.

Now even if the scenario happened exactly like it did in the video, even then, in order to pull someone's right hand, with your left hand, which is probably your weaker hand vs his stronger hand (and even it wasn't) the movement you need to perform requires much more strength than it does for him to keep his knife up there. If you are silly enough, and so unaware of your personal space to let someone get a blade against your throat, you might as well say a quick prayer, because you aren't going to make it. Self defense starts with spacial and situational awareness. Don't let them get into your space to begin with. If he presents a threat, take him down before he can make his move - adopt a pre-emptive mindset rather than a defensive mindset. Watch his hands, control the distance, always go for offense.

Wow, again, assuming he is the guy from the video, you would be fine, but a knife is a visceral attack, it takes some serious hate to go at someone with a blade. you would likely not get the knife away with one hand, plus at the end you have the knife on the ground, now you two are back to square one, fighting for the blade. Control the knife, while you smash him in the face with a right straight, or kick him in the groin, but don't ever disengage him, then bend over to get the knife...

This video shows the surest way to commit a suicide, especially if a victim is --poorly trained--. If someone has a REAL sharp blade attached to your neck this way (with his left hand already on the other side of your neck, supporting the slash) with intention of killing - your are 99.9% dead anyways. The SLIGHTEST movement of the blade will do some very nasty things to your neck/throat, even if the blade is in the hands of a complete noob who was just fooling around.

That way the knife hits your arm if anything while your getting out of the way of the knife and not your neck. If its some junkie and your life is at stake, you could step in double chop the inside of the knife hand and stay in contact with it as you check his front leg and fold a right elbow in. As his head jerks back, the body follows. You angle off to 4:30 and use borrowed force to break the arm and step/shuffle in to close the gap and disarm him with your elbows close to your body.
