We call this cheese "peynir" in Turkey and it's extremely famous. Interesting that Indians make the same cheese, perhaps it has to do with our Turkic ancestors in central Asia who came into contact with Indians. I think it's a Turkish cheese but let's not fight over this, just enjoy it :D

Hmm... paneer is the same as Mexican queso fresco. That is if it is plain without the masala.
