I incorporate auto tune and record voice, and I go to my recordings and I enter that song , but the auto tune is not heard?????????how to i fix it?????please, tell me, i want to make r'n'b song.....
@DippinDextah My only guess is that your mic is not properly connected. I would reboot the computer with the mic connected and try again. If that doesn't work, post on the Mixcraft Forum on the Acoustica website.
My only problem is that when I go to press the record button, it wont record. It clicks, but doesnt function, if that makes sense. What am I doing wrong?
@BOYthatROX I honestly have no idea why that's happening. Is the timeline moving when you hit the Record button? If so, but nothing is recording, then I would imagine that you either haven't armed the track you're using to record on, or you haven't chosen the proper recording input under File >> Preference >> Input.
Ok i notice something else, i know the arm button is to record and u choose ure mike settings etc, so choosed my webcam mike and the stero, left channel, right channel, works......but when i plug in my mic the stero works (becuz of the left the channel) and of course the left channel works, BUT NOT THE RIGHT CHANNEL! thats the problem why the voice isnt balanced on both sides (i think lol) how to fix that?
also, does Microphone/ Line-In affects the balance of the voice as in more voice to the left or right if shifted? better yet what is Microphone/ Line In? lol im wondering if its my version of Mixcraft becuz i got a new one, i have mixcraft 5 but i used it before and i didnt have this problem with the voice only being at one side of the song/music, even though everything is in the centre!
hi, i need some help..........i been using Mixcraft for some good while now, never had a problem until today, my mike works records fine, while im finishing recording everything sounds BALANCED, note sounds balanced, when i shift the pan to the right and left i hear my voice on both sides and i ensure i put it bck to the centre and it sounds balanced but when saved and put unto my mp3 my voice ALONE is on the left side but the instrumentals are on both sides! wats the problem? im frustrated!
can you explain how to balance the vocals with the music? cuz everytime i record my voice, it never fits with the music, sometimes too soft sometimes too loud. I've tried to use Compressor, Reverb, and EQ. However, i still can't balance them.
@CreativeEntertaiment It may have more to do with your mic or your computer than with Mixcraft. What kind of mic are you using? Are you adjusting the sound volume levels prior to recording?
@blasterowner If your mic is attached correctly, check the File > Preferences > Input area. Make sure that your mic is selected there. Also, make sure it is selected when you arm the track, by choosing it from the dropdown menu next to "ARM" on the active track.
@40remzy40 There's really no way for me to answer that question as everybody is looking for a different effect. I personally like a nice, live type auditorium resonance when I sing, but that's me. To achieve it, there are a number of tweaks that you could use. I would just suggest playing around with the different effects. This is the best way to get a feel for what you're doing.
@theboredkid100 Not sure, but make sure you're using the Arm button when recording on a specific track. Also, make sure that your mic is listed and checked in the submenu dropdown next to ARM. Also, check the File >> Preferences menu and make sure that you mic is selected for Audio Input.
@jdaddy609 Vocals are typically recorded in mono so as to minimize file size. That should be sufficient. You shouldn't have to mess with the pan, unless you're trying to create the effect of live instruments coming from different areas while playing, such as having a piano on one side and a guitar or drum on the other.
ok so when i record i record right do i have to rerecord for lefth or i just duplicate and set pan to the left? and what goes in the middle? i need help ty
i have a good microphone but it doesn´t have a usb plug in cable, it has an input jack. I have a small adaptor to the microphone jack which i can plug in on the pc (mic plug in for example) Should it work so i can record my voice with mixcraft? Or it only works with Usb entrance?
@gabriellopes28 The "mic" in port might work, but I'm not totally sure. It depends upon the computer. Even though it's a good mic, you will definitely lose quality if you do it this way. You'll have much better sound via USB port. Have you checked to see if you can find a USB adapter for your mic? That would be the best route.
@recordingwiz thanks for your answer. Just one more doubt I have an digital audio entrance on my pc (in and out) and when i press the function near the arm button it appear the digital Real high definiton audio. I choose stereo but it won´t work, but if i chose left it will work and played both sides..
I have 2 options recording the voice (near the arm button) Microphone (Real tech High Definition Audio) and Digital In (Real Tech high definition Audio) which one´s the best?
@gabriellopes28 Which mic are you using to record? Whichever mic you're using is the one you should select when you "Arm" your track. If you're recording vocals, doing so in "mono" should work fine.
@recordingwiz thank you very much for your help. I was using a shure micro or a sony, but i have an digital voice recorder now which i plug in on the usb and i am very satisfied with the results. I am recording Hotel California from Eagles playing all instruments by myself and adding main vocals and chorus vocals. When i´m done and if you´d like i could send you mixcraft file for you to take a lool...
@gabriellopes28 Sounds great! It's my pleasure to help out if possible. I'm glad you got things working. And I'd love to hear your final mixdown. Just let me know.
i have selected and tried a new standard mic and it has the same problem . i have one other computer that is vista and it allows me to record and everything. it works fine but on my windows xp this problem only occurs.is it becaus eof the computer? the settings are the same on each
@hhd92 It's really difficult to know for sure. There are adjustments here and there when dealing with sound. Have you checked your File > Preference > Input settings to make sure that your mic is selected?
i have a question. when i use mixcraft and record while having headphones and mic plugged in why does it not record my voice but yet records the sounds coming out of my earphones.nomatter how the volume is it doesnt record me just the music being played? can anyone help?
@hhd92 My best guess is that you need to make sure you have the correct mic selected when you're doing your recording. Make sure that when you arm the vocal track before recording, that your headset mic is selected and active. If it's not displaying on the Arm menu, then you'll need to go to File > Preferences > Input and choose the headset mic to make it active. I hope this helps!
@LexiPexi15 Honestly, you can probably use the computer mic, which should already be set as the default for recording with the program, but I doubt you'll be very happy with your results. My suggestion is to at least go out an buy a cheap USB mic/headset. Your results will be much cleaner and controllable.
@SaffinAlimamy - Audacity is an open source, free software. It's functional for recording, but is not geared for lots of perks. Mixcraft BY FAR is much better for adding effects, hands down.
@WhySoSerious75 Check your preferences and make sure that you are clicking the "arm" button on your vocal track when recording so that your voice is actually being recorded. Also, make sure that the speaker button is selected when playing back so that you can hear what was recorded. The other thing is to make sure that you're not muting the track by accident.
I have this M-Audio Vocal Pro mic and really dislike the ProTools Lite it comes with... the thing is, it has a headphones jack (in the microphone) that when I do record, I what is playing... is there a way to do that with the microphone I still have if I get Mixcraft?
i do everything fine but when i record my voice over an instrumental, my vocals are off ): any idea on how to fix this? it would be great cus its kind of annoying haha even when i try and match it up it still starts to go off beat with the instrumental. please let me know what i can do to stop this thanks.
@whitepride412 Try closing all other programs running on your computer and do it again. It may have to do with your computers processor and available memory. This, again, is the first thing that comes to mind.
so this might obvious, idk, but i can record my voice fine, but when i play it back its all crackley. and i cant get it too stop, i dont think its a connection problem because i plugged my mic into 3 different USB ports on my computer. any ideas?
@3tuxedo I'm not totally sure why, but my first thought is that you may have too many other programs running on your computer at the same time as recording. Make sure that everything else is closed when you're doing your recording to make all available memory available to Mixcraft. I hope that helps.
can you have an instrumental track playing while your singing at the same time,im looking for the most simplest software to be able to do those two things at the same time.
@punkiznotdead Yes, it will work that way, but you have to have your playback settings set correctly. Also, you need to have a headset to be able to hear the music while you're singing into the mic. Go ahead and download Mixcraft 5. It's free for the first 30 days and is fully functional with no obligation. If you try it and don't like it, you don't have to buy it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
@autostart07 Yes, it should work fine. Mixcraft will work with any USB mic. Of course, the quality of your vocals will vary depending upon how good the mic is, but it will certainly work.
@robertcordero1234 lower the volume of the instrumental...and if it still doesn't work...then add the compressor effect...and choose Vocal for hd louder recording
@pensmoke unfortunatly you can't using Mixcraft 4.5...Only cutting every single blank bit...what you can do is lower your microphone volume to a certain level where you will have to sing or speak slightly higher...but it won't catch background air...
@ForeverUntouched Honestly, I couldn't tell you that, as I've never done any kind of rapping. You'll just have to work with the effects to come up with the sound that you like. I would imagine though that you'd use a minimum reverb to achieve the effect of this.
@GruffyMcMuffins I honestly am not sure why you're having this issue. It's really hard to say without knowing specifics. All I could say is make sure that your preferences are set correctly.
It could be a couple of issues. Make sure you check your File> Preferences> Speaker Settings and make sure you've chosen your computer speakers for playback. Also, make sure that you've selected the solo button on the track where you recorded your guitar for playback. If you want to hear the guitar playing through the speakers while recording, then you'll need to use the monitor setting, which is found in the "Arm" dropdown list. You may have some delay though, depending on latency.
i record my rap songs on mixcraft over instrumentals but when i record the voice gets slower and slower in time and is off track with the beat i searched how to fix it and it said use asio..well when i use asio, it claims there is nothing to playback the beat when i record... even though i have a headset plugged in... so can you explain how to get rid of the lag and fix it?
My guess is that you've got your "Pan" setting set to either left or right. Check it and make sure that it's in the middle. It's easy to hit it and change it without realizing it. It's the little round knob just to the left of your track.
on mny laptop i can do webcam with ppl and i guess theres a built in recording device n i can talk to my friends on webcam. Isnt that enough like do i really have to buy some microphone thing.?
You built in mic will work, but it really depends on what kind of sound quality you're looking for and what you're recording with Mixcraft. If you're just remixing songs and stuff, with a few vocal effects thrown in, then you'll probably be fine with a built in mic. If you're looking to record something with professional sound, you'll need a decent mic. You don't have to pay that much for one, really.
@recordingwiz I see what I was doing wrong, but another question- How do you bring up the mixer for a track? You know, to make some tracks louder than others.
Each track doesn't have a particular "mixer" except that you can adjust the volume by moving the volume slider up or down. If you want to boost the volume on a particular track, you'll need to do use some of the compressor effects that are located by clicking on the effects tab. These have some mixing interface options.
How is your guitar connected to your computer? Is it via a mixing board that then plugs into the computer into a USB port? Or, do you simply have it miked? It's hard to troubleshoot without knowing exactly what you're doing.
when i record my vocal track and i also have my drum and rthum track i noticed that my vocal recording picks up the other tracks also. Is there a way to just record my vocals and not the other tracks that i have layed down . Hope someone can help
Hi recordingwiz, I need help with mixcraft 4.5 that i downloaded and i like it very much. I play Country music and started to create a song with mixcraft 4.5 and i'm wondering how i get it to change cords, say it starts in "c" cord then to "f" then back to "c" .
Cindy, I'm not totally sure how you're creating a song with Mixcraft, but if you're using some of the digital loops that are pre-recorded to create your tracks, you'll need to click on the actual sound track and then use the "track" tab at the bottom window. Some loops can be adjusted according to pitch and tempo. Some may not be editable. You should see a dropdown menu on the "Track" tab that will show the editable track larger and just to the right of the editable options.
This is a hard one to answer, because there are several ways to use guitar with Mixcraft. Are you using a mixing board that is plugged into the USB port? Are you trying to do Midi recording or recording straight sound? Are you recording guitar with a mic? It's really difficult to say what your issue might be without knowing a lot more.
That's not an easy question to answer. Adding effects is pretty subjective. It really depends upon the sound that you're trying to achieve. I personally like singing with the ambient sound of a small hall or auditorium. Even if you choose to use these sounds, you can still edit them to sound more like what you're looking for. Adding effects to vocals can be as artistic as singing itself.
ok i used tp have mixcraft a long time ago but my computer crashed and i started recording on fl but now im bak to mixcraft i used to know how to do this but i would like to know if you could tell me how to record audio while playing a beat without recording the beat so i can just record the vocals, b cuz when i record it records the beat as well as my vocals so if you could tell how to do this i'd really appreciate it
It's a bit hard to say, but it may be that you have your metronome cut on. If you turn that off, you won't hear the beat playing as you sing. There's a little metronome icon towards the bottom where your time indicator shows. You can turn it off by clicking there. I'm assuming that's what you're having a problem with.
Your vocals should automatically play out in stereo mode, as far as I know, unless you've adjusted the "pan" knob on your recorded vocal track. It's usually a good idea to record your vocals in "mono", but they should always play back in stereo.
Most likely, you need to be wearing headphones while you're recording your voice, which will allow you to hear the music in your ears without catching it on the recorded vocal track. It is fairly normal to get just a bit of the instrumental in the vocal track, but you don't want too much of it.
This is awesome!!! but just one question....I have a really cheap mic, and everytime i go to record and play back there is always the sound of alot of air in the track......How do i remove some of the air to make the track sound more professional? Thanks again!
Hey there. Glad the video helped you out. The cheap mic could be your problem. If the room where you're recording is not sound proof, the mic could pick up extra sound. Try wrapping your mic in some cloth or getting a guard to put on it, if it's that kind of mic. The other way you can edit out some of that "air" is to adjust your EQ settings. I can't tell you exactly what to do as it's something you'll just have to experiment with. EQ is found in the effects console. Hope this helps.
I'm not totally sure, but I believe that it's only USB. All I can say is give it a whirl and see if it works. A simple 3/4 inch plugin mic might work as well. I suppose it really depends on your computer. You'll get much better results with a USB mic though in my opinion.
It worked with the regular old plugin mic but once i put in the headphones in, it quit working... i guess there were way too many audio channels for the computer to read.
Yes, of course you can. But, you have to check your latency settings within the File>Preferences menu. It may be that you're hearing a bad echo as you record, if you have your voice feeding back through the monitors as well. Ideally, you'll want to have your voice in your headset monitors as well as the background music, but your ability to hear your voice without latency will depend upon the settings and the soundcard of your computer. For now, just make sure that your bgd track is playing.
I'm not totally sure, but you can try right clicking on the mp3 file and then click "Open with" and see if you can find Windows Movie Maker listed there. If not, then you should be able to open Windows Movie Make and drag your mp3 file onto the timeline there and go about editing it that way. Or, within Windows Movie Maker, there should be an "insert media" button or choice from the menu. Once you select it, just navigate to where you have the mp3 file located on your computer and select it.
can i record my voice using a standard line in mic? or do i have to have a usb mic? mixcraft isnt recording anything, i tried every input option..hmmmm..i know the mic is working, windows recognizes my voice input, just not mixcraft
how can I get a voice more slowly? Because I've looked through all the options and can not find.

i do everything fine but when i record my voice over an instrumental, my vocals are off ): any idea on how to fix this? it would be great cus its kind of annoying haha even when i try and match it up it still starts to go off beat with the instrumental. please let me know what i can do to stop this thanks.
whitepride412 1 year ago 9
@whitepride412 Try closing all other programs running on your computer and do it again. It may have to do with your computers processor and available memory. This, again, is the first thing that comes to mind.
recordingwiz 1 year ago
@recordingwiz Yeah i tried that but i think i has something to do with the latency. its just always completely off haha
whitepride412 1 year ago
so this might obvious, idk, but i can record my voice fine, but when i play it back its all crackley. and i cant get it too stop, i dont think its a connection problem because i plugged my mic into 3 different USB ports on my computer. any ideas?
3tuxedo 1 year ago
@3tuxedo I'm not totally sure why, but my first thought is that you may have too many other programs running on your computer at the same time as recording. Make sure that everything else is closed when you're doing your recording to make all available memory available to Mixcraft. I hope that helps.

can you have an instrumental track playing while your singing at the same time,im looking for the most simplest software to be able to do those two things at the same time.
punkiznotdead 1 year ago
@punkiznotdead Yes, it will work that way, but you have to have your playback settings set correctly. Also, you need to have a headset to be able to hear the music while you're singing into the mic. Go ahead and download Mixcraft 5. It's free for the first 30 days and is fully functional with no obligation. If you try it and don't like it, you don't have to buy it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

will it work if i use a rockband usb microphone? plzzz reply asap
autostart07 1 year ago
@autostart07 Yes, it should work fine. Mixcraft will work with any USB mic. Of course, the quality of your vocals will vary depending upon how good the mic is, but it will certainly work.

where can i download this plzzzz full version ?
and does this program make the sound clear?
kokym8 1 year ago
How do you minimize, or eliminate the background air?
pensmoke 1 year ago
@pensmoke unfortunatly you can't using Mixcraft 4.5...Only cutting every single blank bit...what you can do is lower your microphone volume to a certain level where you will have to sing or speak slightly higher...but it won't catch background air...
It also depends on the microphone you are using.
REVoLUTIONPRODZ 1 year ago
if u are rapping in mixcraft which effect should u use ?
ForeverUntouched 1 year ago
@ForeverUntouched Honestly, I couldn't tell you that, as I've never done any kind of rapping. You'll just have to work with the effects to come up with the sound that you like. I would imagine though that you'd use a minimum reverb to achieve the effect of this.

Does this work to record a guitar using an external amp? I'm too lazy to try :P
pegasus52497 1 year ago
@pegasus52497 Sure. Yes, but you probably need some kind of mixer input that has a connected USB port to hook it to your computer.

I just downloaded Mixcraft and plugged in my mic. For some reason whenever I record, it makes my voice fast and sound like a chipmunk... Why???
GruffyMcMuffins 1 year ago
@GruffyMcMuffins I honestly am not sure why you're having this issue. It's really hard to say without knowing specifics. All I could say is make sure that your preferences are set correctly.

if i have my guitar plugged in to my computer, how can i hear what im playing through the speakers, ive done it before but forgot how
ArtWithRob 2 years ago
It could be a couple of issues. Make sure you check your File> Preferences> Speaker Settings and make sure you've chosen your computer speakers for playback. Also, make sure that you've selected the solo button on the track where you recorded your guitar for playback. If you want to hear the guitar playing through the speakers while recording, then you'll need to use the monitor setting, which is found in the "Arm" dropdown list. You may have some delay though, depending on latency.

i record my rap songs on mixcraft over instrumentals but when i record the voice gets slower and slower in time and is off track with the beat i searched how to fix it and it said use asio..well when i use asio, it claims there is nothing to playback the beat when i record... even though i have a headset plugged in... so can you explain how to get rid of the lag and fix it?

i got a question man when ever i record i can only hear my vocals on one side of the headphones whys that?
TaGGin9SKiL 2 years ago
My guess is that you've got your "Pan" setting set to either left or right. Check it and make sure that it's in the middle. It's easy to hit it and change it without realizing it. It's the little round knob just to the left of your track.

@recordingwiz can u record over a instrumental
TheYoungMoneyShow 1 year ago
on mny laptop i can do webcam with ppl and i guess theres a built in recording device n i can talk to my friends on webcam. Isnt that enough like do i really have to buy some microphone thing.?
ComptonG4ngsta 2 years ago
You built in mic will work, but it really depends on what kind of sound quality you're looking for and what you're recording with Mixcraft. If you're just remixing songs and stuff, with a few vocal effects thrown in, then you'll probably be fine with a built in mic. If you're looking to record something with professional sound, you'll need a decent mic. You don't have to pay that much for one, really.
recordingwiz 2 years ago
@recordingwiz I see what I was doing wrong, but another question- How do you bring up the mixer for a track? You know, to make some tracks louder than others.
Tlev1023 2 years ago
Each track doesn't have a particular "mixer" except that you can adjust the volume by moving the volume slider up or down. If you want to boost the volume on a particular track, you'll need to do use some of the compressor effects that are located by clicking on the effects tab. These have some mixing interface options.
recordingwiz 2 years ago
Also, when I click the arm button, it doesn't monitor the input, it just stays like all the other tracks
Tlev1023 2 years ago
How is your guitar connected to your computer? Is it via a mixing board that then plugs into the computer into a USB port? Or, do you simply have it miked? It's hard to troubleshoot without knowing exactly what you're doing.

cindyvarley60 2 years ago
Hi recordingwiz, I need help with mixcraft 4.5 that i downloaded and i like it very much. I play Country music and started to create a song with mixcraft 4.5 and i'm wondering how i get it to change cords, say it starts in "c" cord then to "f" then back to "c" .
cindyvarley60 2 years ago
Cindy, I'm not totally sure how you're creating a song with Mixcraft, but if you're using some of the digital loops that are pre-recorded to create your tracks, you'll need to click on the actual sound track and then use the "track" tab at the bottom window. Some loops can be adjusted according to pitch and tempo. Some may not be editable. You should see a dropdown menu on the "Track" tab that will show the editable track larger and just to the right of the editable options.

ey;) i plug in my guitar like they show in every video on youtube. but it doesn't work:( any help?
Zahlo74 2 years ago
This is a hard one to answer, because there are several ways to use guitar with Mixcraft. Are you using a mixing board that is plugged into the USB port? Are you trying to do Midi recording or recording straight sound? Are you recording guitar with a mic? It's really difficult to say what your issue might be without knowing a lot more.

can you use a headphone with a microphhone
adisor906 2 years ago
Absolutely. Believe it or not, I recorded my whole first album with a headset mic. It can be challenging, but it works.
recordingwiz 2 years ago
whats the best effects to use when singing to make your voice sound studio quality!!
lilkflash 2 years ago
That's not an easy question to answer. Adding effects is pretty subjective. It really depends upon the sound that you're trying to achieve. I personally like singing with the ambient sound of a small hall or auditorium. Even if you choose to use these sounds, you can still edit them to sound more like what you're looking for. Adding effects to vocals can be as artistic as singing itself.

When i record mi voice is louder in the left speaker than in the right What's the problem and how can i fix it
Thanks in advance

Check you "Pan" settings. Chances are you accidently adjusted the pan to the left instead of having it in the middle.

ok i used tp have mixcraft a long time ago but my computer crashed and i started recording on fl but now im bak to mixcraft i used to know how to do this but i would like to know if you could tell me how to record audio while playing a beat without recording the beat so i can just record the vocals, b cuz when i record it records the beat as well as my vocals so if you could tell how to do this i'd really appreciate it
CheddaFyeProductionz 2 years ago
It's a bit hard to say, but it may be that you have your metronome cut on. If you turn that off, you won't hear the beat playing as you sing. There's a little metronome icon towards the bottom where your time indicator shows. You can turn it off by clicking there. I'm assuming that's what you're having a problem with.

how do i get my vocals to play in stereo mode not mono mode
KrazzyK40509 2 years ago
Your vocals should automatically play out in stereo mode, as far as I know, unless you've adjusted the "pan" knob on your recorded vocal track. It's usually a good idea to record your vocals in "mono", but they should always play back in stereo.

I'm kinda new to this and i can't seem to record my voice over a instrumental without recording the bckround music too, whats the deal?
trmccrae 2 years ago
Most likely, you need to be wearing headphones while you're recording your voice, which will allow you to hear the music in your ears without catching it on the recorded vocal track. It is fairly normal to get just a bit of the instrumental in the vocal track, but you don't want too much of it.

This is awesome!!! but just one question....I have a really cheap mic, and everytime i go to record and play back there is always the sound of alot of air in the track......How do i remove some of the air to make the track sound more professional? Thanks again!
jaylenhill 2 years ago

Dear recordingwiz,
Does it only take USB microphones? Or can it be the simple headset microphones as well?
Thanks
YoshiEatsWasabi 2 years ago
I'm not totally sure, but I believe that it's only USB. All I can say is give it a whirl and see if it works. A simple 3/4 inch plugin mic might work as well. I suppose it really depends on your computer. You'll get much better results with a USB mic though in my opinion.
recordingwiz 2 years ago
Thanks for the reply!
It worked with the regular old plugin mic but once i put in the headphones in, it quit working... i guess there were way too many audio channels for the computer to read.
Again, thank you for your answer!
And keep up with the good work!!!

your video has been very helpful. thankyou.
but.
if i wanted to record my voice over a backing track song, am i able to listen to the backing track whilst recording?
if you can do that, then could you please tell me?
thanks
MovieGuy250293 2 years ago
Yes, of course you can. But, you have to check your latency settings within the File>Preferences menu. It may be that you're hearing a bad echo as you record, if you have your voice feeding back through the monitors as well. Ideally, you'll want to have your voice in your headset monitors as well as the background music, but your ability to hear your voice without latency will depend upon the settings and the soundcard of your computer. For now, just make sure that your bgd track is playing.

one question, when i finish recording my voice, how do i open it with windows movie maker? Please answer!
daghostrida 2 years ago
I'm not totally sure, but you can try right clicking on the mp3 file and then click "Open with" and see if you can find Windows Movie Maker listed there. If not, then you should be able to open Windows Movie Make and drag your mp3 file onto the timeline there and go about editing it that way. Or, within Windows Movie Maker, there should be an "insert media" button or choice from the menu. Once you select it, just navigate to where you have the mp3 file located on your computer and select it.
