  • Slow

  • Your gti won't beat him in a line. Take him on the corners. They surprisingly handle a lot better than a wrx. Odd considering the wrx has awd

  • @tpen29 well awd does not mean more grip or better handling. Its better an adverse conditions and powering out of tight corners.

  • This model WRX maybe not 11-12.

  • could have had him if you shifted quicker

  • If only it had been DSG.

  • i like golf gti but unfortunately it sucks :(

  • Not at bad race at all, judging by the comments this year wrx has 265hp? if so, then its not a bad race imo for the GTI, I can accept the outcome haha.

  • Subaru for life :)

  • Closed track.... 0:00 There is cars behind us!

  • description = "closed track"

... absolutely first thing I hear when the video starts...."theres cars behind us".....XD

  • all these people below arguing about WRX vs Mustangs are morons. FACT: the mustang v6 beat both the STi and the WRX around Virginia International raceway. FACT: those were all with PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS on perfect pavement on a RACE COURSE. FACT: In real world situations, a normal Mustang owner will NEVER be able to hang with an awd WRX or an STi. Seriously, going to try to compare AWD vs RWD w/LIVE REAR AXLE??? In real world you'd be lucky not to end up off the road in with the mustang

  • @JMAHER1523 haha so funny yet soo true! awd ftw!!

  • the way you prove these people wrong is freakkin hilarious hahahah

  • Sti11' not 2009 --'

  • I'd use that money to buy a 2011 V6 Mustang over a WRX or GTi. It'll beat both cars in a straight line and it'll even beat an STi in the twisties for a fraction of the price.

  • @jakubgt1 lol I was eating Mustang GT's in my 08 WRX when it was all stock.

  • @ASosa21

The 2008 shouldn't even be considered a WRX. Might as well call it a Corolla 'S'

  • @jakubgt1 I'm sure you scream "fuck that Corolla S" every time a stock one smokes you. Do you even own a car?? Talking about V6 Mustang's, are you serious????

  • @ASosa21

You do realize the 2011 V6 mustang is faster than an STi right? Maybe if you weren't so arrogant with your slow ass 08 you would realize the 2011 Mustangs are no joke. What makes it even sadder is that the V6 stang beats stomps on the STi at the twisties and costs 15k less.

  • @jakubgt1 I find it a little hard to believe that a V6 Mustang is faster than a STi, especially when my stock "slow ass 08" burns 2011 5.0 V8 Mustangs at 45mph roll-on starts. You should actually try driving the cars yourself instead of making decisions based off of Car and Driver videos. BTW, my "slow ass 08" out-handles my buddies 408rwph 2010 Mustang GT at Homestead Speedway every time we go twice a month. And my 651awhp 2006 will turn almost anything at Homestead into dust. Fuck Stangs.

  • @ASosa21 Dude you are ignorant if both cars are stock a v6 mustang will hang with an sti from a roll probably lose by a little. look at trap speeds please and not bogus redline awd 0-60 launches. A 2011 5.0 v8 mustang vs 08 wrx? are u kidding? My best friend has an 09 stage 2 wrx with bolt on he he knows a 5.0 would rape him in a straight line and corners. 09 wrx grip .86g 2011 mustang v8 .93g. Quarter mile for 09 wrx around 13.5 at 101mph +- 2. mustang v8 12.8 at 110 mph.

  • @ASosa21 Lol an 08 wrx i though u had an sti. If thats the case .81 g grip and horrendous body roll. as well as a 94 mph 1/4 mile trap speed. The 08 wrx is the worst performing wrx ever made. your 08 stock wrx taking a 2011 5.0 mustang that is THE largest bullshit I have ever heard in my life in terms of cars. Im just stating facts I like Subaru's my friend as I said has a stage 2 09 wrx with full bolt ons. and no I dont have a mustang. Who knows maybe those mustang drives can drive for shit

  • @ASosa21 Hate to say this but i own a 2009 wrx stage 2... much quicker than the 2008 WRXs and a 2011 5.0 would rape me in the 1/4. I might get one off the line but its all over once they get traction. 2008 wrx is a mid 14 sec car and the new 5.0 runs low 13's to high 12's. If you beat one please make sure the dirver knows you're racing them.

  • @aaronacj The 08's wrx's are a disgrace to subaru. All other wrx's are superior

  • @basslover352 That is why 08 WRXs sit on lots all over the place until some ignorant buyer comes in not knowing that the 08 was a flop.

  • @basslover352 MY 08 when i got it was very slow... and i did not know at the time about the power differents of the 08 vs 09+.... so it was a easy to upgraed to the VF52 turbo... and now with tune and add ons i am running 312hp & 340TQ not bad for a 08 wrx with a 09 VF52 turbo... take a look at it on my vidoes.

  • @08WRXBEN yea swap the turbo and its all good as well as suspension/tires. My friend has a stage 2 09

  • @jakubgt1 Actually, my buddy with the 408rwph 2010 Mustang GT got spanked last time we ran at Homestead by a stock non-turbo 1986 Porsche 928. Why did he get spanked?? To much braking and cornering for a pushrod.

  • @jakubgt1 you're kidding right? i really hope you are. the mustang can out handle the sti? HAHHAHAHAHA, i bet the 2.5 RS can outhandle the 2011 mustangs. you need to drive the cars before you make assumptions. i have a 2011 wrx with stock 265hp and i know for a fact that 2011 mustang v6 with 300hp? will lose on the straights and you're talking about handling? please, tell me how much that rustang weighs...lol 4000 pounds? haha..

  • @KnighTHawK1104

You are completely ignorant and sound like an idiot. Look at the track times before posting such garbage. I hope you know that I drive a WRX.

  • @jakubgt1 you're fucking ignorant...lmao. a mustang will NEVER be faster than an sti in the corners..you sound like the real idiot. if you drive a wrx it just means you don't know the potential of your own car. you don't deserve it lol. sell it to someone that will appreciate it. and where did you get these numbers? your GT5 or forza game?

  • @KnighTHawK1104

You should really get your head out of your arse and realize Subaru isn't so great. You're WRX is absolute trash. The interior is crap, mpgs are terrible, and the transmission is just horrid. Not to mention it's slow compared to the competition. Having a V6 mustang beat it around a track just tops it off. I'll be getting a new 5.0 soon. Now that's a real car and not some slow rice trash

  • @jakubgt1 subaru's ARE great. best bang for your buck combining awd, comfort, reliability, and sportiness. good luck with your mustang in the snow or when you have to go on a trip with your luggage. mustangs may have gotten better but still just not reliable. watch you sell your 2011 mustang when it has 100k miles while i'll still be off roading in mine at 200k.

  • @KnighTHawK1104 Sorry to say. The new mustangs do have worse steering feel. However in terms of cornering grip they actually post higher skidpad and lateral g's numbers than sti's.

  • @basslover352 at least they have steering feel....u can't deny, sti's steering is sooo numb, you can't feel anything!

  • @willneverstop I would not say nothing. I have driven worse

  • @KnighTHawK1104 From a roll you will be pretty close to a v6 mustang.sorry to say. Look at 1/4 trap speeds and tell me im wrong. both run from 100-103mph

  • @KnighTHawK1104 You know hes correct about the v6 mustang beating sti's and wrx around a track

  • @jakubgt1 dude you are a tard my 2009 gti would stomp your 2011 mustang v6 in the starights and even worse in the corners mustang blows you are so dumb to not see it

  • @atc51rams

    2011 V6 Mustang: 1/4-mile (sec. @ mph) 13.4 @ 103.2

    0-60 mph (sec.) 5.3

    Skid pad, 200-ft. diameter (lateral g) 0.91

    MPG  = 29

    2009 GTi: 1/4-mile (sec. @ mph) 14.9 @ 95.6

    0-60 mph (sec.) 6.9

    Skid pad, 200-ft. diameter (lateral g) 0.84

    MPG = 31

Yep, you're absolutely right. The GTi demolishes the V6 stang.

  • Stock for stock your your gti will not beat a v6 mustang in the straights or corners however gti's are without a doubt a sporty, comfy, refined and well rounded everyday driver. But no you will not take any new model mustangs. You will need a stage 2 tune to beat a v6 mustang.

  • @basslover352 no you only need stage 1 to beat it but doesn't matter im stage 3 i just look stock lol i love my sleeper

  • I work for a dealership selling both... needless to say I own a WRX compared to a GTI or TDI. I wanted something for year round fun and transportation and VWs aren't the best in our winters.

  • I know its to reference the difference between the '08 and '09+ but I find it so ironic that subaru underrated the '09 WRX hp numbers and now the little white lie is stuck to it everywhere.

  • @mxpie80 They also underrated the boost PSI. Who cares if it is stuck to them, its still impressive to say they are 265. Independent dyno runs show a stock WRX between 223-225 AWHP, so hey, thats pretty fucking good.

  • i would get the WRX over the GTI. Not because the WRX is sexier looking and faster than the GTi, but it's because it's a sedan. I got a thing for sports sedans

  • BLACK PEOPLE!

  • if u Wr DSG u whould have Got him

  • only if the gti driver new how to shift i think the result would be closer

in a big wrx fan guys but the gti driver sockes no effence :)

  • @wrxQ8 i dunno how you guys expect to shift a 2010 gti any quicker than that? If you own a 2010 you know how long the clutch travel is and how long the gear throws are.. not to be left alone the fact that the throtle response isnt the greatest. If he was shifting any quicker he'd be letting the clutch out half way through the throw lol.

  • I got my 2010 wrx tuned to e85. And it is ridiculous I got my 0 to 60 down to 4.5 at 5280 feet in Denver soon to be stage 2 e85 ..overkill..

  • If the MKV had driver mod he would have won, or DSG...lost half a car each time he shifted lolz

  • Okay apparently the 2009 and the 2010 have different power increments even though they both have 265 hp

  • @Ak47kindaguy The 09 and 10 have different tunes which is why the numbers are different. Next time read a little more carefully before posting. I owned a 09 wrx (not the one in the vid) and now have a 2011 sti sedan.

  • @dtaiwo1 Nice, how do you like the 2011 STi? My brother is looking at getting a 2011 WRX Hatch limited for 28,000 and 30,000 otd price. The STi Hatch would be around 36,000 OTD. What do you think, is it worth spending the extra money on the STi? I used to personally own an 2005 STi and in those years there were no issues at all at Stage 2 levels. I've heard that the new WRX's have shitty pistons and transmissions. :(

  • @Ak47kindaguy that HP is underrated, its a well known fact that it equals or beats STI on quarter mile times stock.

  • @kanaric Actually not really. I dynoed mine at 228 Whp in south florida during the winter. Its the 5 speed that makes a monster/bitch at the same time

  • that is not a wrx 265....

the new wrx 265 has the same front as the sti

  • @gringoderian1 Yes, it is a wrx265.

    2008 wrx - 225 hp engine

    2009+ wrx - 265 hp, hence the wrx265.

    Some people are so ignorant.

  • @dtaiwo1 Thank you.

  • @gringoderian1 um no. the 2011+ has the same front end as the sti

  • @gringoderian1 08-10 wrx is the same, body wise...pretty much.. 2011 is the sti wide body. you really don't know anything about subarus do you?

  • subaru guy hit the breaks )))

  • VW does not get enough respect.

  • @dtaiwo1Is that cobb stage 1 the WRX cobb stage 1 you're talking about? Because Its only a 8% hp increase and 14% TQ the Stage 2 is 16% Hp and 20.5% TQ.

  • @Ak47kindaguy How about you check the cobb website before making bogus statements?

    Stage 1: +16.0% HP and +21.8% TQ

    (see modification requirements)

    Stage 2: +19.0% HP and +28.0% TQ

    (see modification requirements)

Copy & pasted straight from cobb

Some of the comments people make on youtube blow my mind.

  • @dtaiwo1 cobbtuning. com/ products/?id=5108 All together I just bought one. Check your facts

  • @dtaiwo1 I've checked the cobb website right now and for the 2010 WRX Stage 1 it says +8.6% HP and +14% TQ. Stae 2 reads +16% Hp and +20.5% TQ. Also copied literally, so the post from Ak47kindaguy was correct. You are refering to the 2009 WRX, which has Stage 1 with +16% HP and +21.8% TQ. 2009, not 2010, so you were wrong, not him

  • @dtaiwo1 I apologize myself. I were wrog, as it is clearly said in the title that the Subaru is from 2009. Is the GTI which is from 2010. I think that was what caused the confusion for me and for Ak47kindagut. So sorry for the previous comment, you were right, +16% HP, +21.8% TQ.

  • @Ak47kindaguy How about you check it broski. I just bought this.

  • TBH I think a little bit quicker on your shifts is possible.. inestead of a quick change it should be "snap" change - especially during a race.

But seems the GTI goes very well.

  • dude people need to learn how to shift. for shammeee

  • My GLI rolled on a a factory WRX, had you been tuned by a company known for tuning the 2.0T, you would have faired a lil better, my buddy with stage 1 APR tune embarasses ppl left and right. who is Cobb, fail on your part APR, Unitronics, GIAC,

  • DSG would have smoked it

  • Is that on Barlow trail in calgary

  • alberta plate loll ?

  • Silly GTI. I had a GTI, and that is why I got a 2009 WRX

  • Slow Vs. Slow.

  • @ApexIXMR what do you drive?

  • @05subiegt

    Why does it matter?

  • @ApexIXMR I hope you have a fast fucking car if you want to call these two slow. Correct me if i'm wrong but with a proper launch this gen of WRX can hit 60 in under 5 seconds stock.. and i'm guessing another 16% horsepower and 21% torque could shave off close to a half second. So no, not "slow".

  • @05subiegt

Again, doesnt matter what I drive.

And you are preaching to the choir with your facts on the WRX. I know what they are capable of and have many friends that own them.

That being said, it doesn't hide the fact that the one on the video had such a difficult time pulling away from a lightly modded GTI. Which is why I said "Slow vs Slow".

  • @ApexIXMR k.

  • Yeah man good race, clean up those shifts and you will be neck and neck. I just mopped the floor with a mazda speed 3 tonight (im stage 2 APR 2010 vw gti) the GTI is just a great little car. Love it

  • Comment removed

  • nice video bud, both great looking cars. vw has the better interior of course :p.

  • Subaru better sound and its AWD...GTI better in every other way lol i miss the older STi's

  • Yea, it was really close! I was saying to my buddy in the wrx, if the gti was dsg it def would have been a closer race.

Stage 1 is just an ecu flash and optional catback exhaust + drop in filter

    From Cobbs website:

    Stage 1: +16.0% HP and +21.8% TQ

The cobb map is a fairly "gentle" tune so he was using a custom Torque Performance map which would have yielded more power.

  • @dtaiwo1

    What is DSG??????????????

Ive been researching the WRX and STI for months and i pretty much know what most of the abbreviations and lingo are,,, but DSG dumbfounds me!

  • @gamrkidd

DSG stands for direct shift gearbox. The transmission uses a twin clutch configuration so the shifts are lightning fast. IE: When your in 2nd gear, 3rd is already engaged.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong :)

  • @dtaiwo1

    thanks for the enlightenment!

so this DSG is only in certain cars right?

im very new to this,,, im barely learning how to drive stick

  • @gamrkidd Yes, DSG is an option in VW and Audi vehicles. Different car manufacturers have different names for the transmission. In BMW it's SMG.

  • @dtaiwo1 That's wrong. The SMG is not the same, its a single-clutch automated manual. BMW's copy of the DSG is called M-DCT.

  • @gamrkidd

Its available on TDI Jettas, TDI Golf, CC, GTI , GLI (When it comes out in the summer), some Audis and Porsches have it too.. Mitsubishi has a similar one for the Ralliart and EVO. They are suppose to shift faster than a manual and have better gas mileage.

  • @gamrkidd

Direct-Shift Gearbox is electronically controlled dual clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox, in a transaxle design - without a conventional clutch pedal, and with full automatic, or semi-manual control. Its VW's transmission that is optional on the GTI. Also available on the TDI Jettas and TDI Golfs and the CC. Mitsubishi has a similar transmission available on the EVO and Ralliart.

  • @Fratty124 thanks for the info! i'll just stick with the manual transmission.. got almost a year to learn it right before i buy my GTI or WRX straight CASH :)

  • @gamrkidd Ill just add, the system is actually a set of 2 sets of gears. One set has gears 1-3-5 (odd), and the other has gears 2-4-6 (even). When it has one in gear, the next gear from the other set is already pre-selected and ready for engagement, hence the gear changes in 400 Milliseconds.

Amazing system, and it probably saves manufacturers money from bad shifting warranty claims.

  • @Mailme81

thanks, that REALLY makes sense now! i barely know how to shift a manual car thats why im asking... I'll still opt for the manual GTI later on this year :)

  • PEOPLE CANT SHIFT .

  • Thats really incredible because the only time the GTI lost ground was in the shifts. If that was a DSG, you probably would have neck and neck the entire time. I dont know what Stage I on a WRX entails, but regardless its impressive.

  • No, I mean stage 1. If I meant stock I would have wrote stock.

  • stage 1? is there such a thing? don't you mean "stock"?

  • lol at the braking into the corner at the end of the vid
