I just ordered my first set of AB4DFA's I tried t get Law enforcement , but advised that it will be 8-9 months until that engraving is available. I'm still excited about them in the Zoomorfic style. I am going through Gary Guth A6t Symphony Studios. He has good communications with the people at McCallum. I hope they send a T-Shirt to Advertise the company ( X-Large) any way I can't wait to get my Pipes
I had a set of A.B2s made by Ian Todd at McCallums,, The service i got from Ian Todd and McCallums was top class , i would recommend McCallums bagpipes to all of you who are thinking of buying a new set of pipes ,top class company, i have had my McCallums AB2s for 4 years now and love them,, Since having my pipes from them i have recommend 5 pipers in my band to buy McCallums pipes ,,three of them have brought sets of AB4s,,, and two of them have had sets of AB2s ,, they all love them ,,
I play a set of Macallums, very easy for fine tuning on drones (The sound doesn't lie or double tone) The only set I have played that bettered the drone sound was a set of 1848 J&R Glens but that is purely my taste which is subjective of course.
A year ago,I bought a set of McCallum pipes made of Acetyl with engraved nickel mounts - it looks like a silver-mounted blackwood set - but cost a quarter of the price!
Acetyl won't shrink, crack or warp, so, with a good moisture control system, it is the ideal material for pipes. Best of all - they sound really great!
@armydude2799 Sorry to disagree, 2799 (my army no. started 2399.. !) I've also got the silver-mounted set that belonged to the famous John D. Burgess: and I reckon that, if I were to stand behind a screen, and play both sets of pipes, you couldn't tell the difference between John D.'s blackwood pipes and the modern acetyl pipes. They are both that good.
@armydude2799 That was a quick reply! I was in the R.A.M.C. (T.A.) back in the sixties - at Grade 2, it was one of the top bands in England at the time! I also played with B. Cal in the 70's/80's! Good luck!

Got my first bagpipes last week, and they are McCallum's :) As a beginner I could not risk making the wrong choice about my first set of bagpipes ( considering that I had to save very hard to buy them...). McCallum's have excellent reviews, so I risked nothing. I look forward to having my McCallum's for the rest of my piping life.
mccallum ....you guys make the most beautifull true scale long chanter out there....i made the mistake of buying a gibson with there "specially" enginered reed and luckily the shop let me return it when i realized it was ..not good.i had to put small tape over the high a but thats the reed not your beautifull instrument .....thank you so much keep up the good work
i can ouch for macallum bagpipes i know kenny & stewart very well recently bought some smallpipes from them 7 kenny &stewart spent plenty of time helping me also showed me round factory thanks guys
