  • I just noticed that there is a tear on Kanyes cheek in that picture.

  • the reflection in the middle of his sunglasses look like little eyeballs.. now you can't unsee it

  • Where's Gil Scott Heron on "Who Will Survive in America"?

  • @joemr8 its easy ahah , look up "who will survive in americ" By Gil scott Heron

  • i always say when i listen to kanye im hearing historical music , and im not lying because thats what im really hearing

  • blame game

  • Good video

  • Kanye's musical taste is so broad it is unbelievable....Who even dreams of taking Continent #6 and King Crimson songs mashing them together and then rap over it???....Ppl need to understand that Kanye isn't "just sampling".....He's forming beats from songs of different genres...from songs that came out in the 1960's & 70's and making them relevant today and he should be appreciated for that because I would of never known who Manfred Mann Earth Band or Mojo Men if it wasn't for him.

  • i remember the first time i listened to avril 14th i got near the end of it and just thought to myself: hold up! i know i've heard this from somewhere before.

  • This is fuckin dope.

  • Excuse me but using a King Crimson sample is just genius.

  • Gorgeous*

  • The RZA made Dark Fantasy.

  • @fonuadevon kanye contributed massively to that song, hence him also being included in the credits.

  • @fonuadevon Both him and kanye

  • the 60s sampling concept plus the way it compliment the history behind what inspired the cover artwork is just genius.

  • On line on GugolRep.com!

  • GENIUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he made them better.

  • To be fair, bro, Bach did write a lot of new material. Saying he just boshed together old hymns is a bit extreme!

  • you guys , skiped ''who will survive in america'' that is ''comment no. 1''

  • Aphex Twin Represent Kanye! :D

  • N!!CE

  • On "Hell of A Life" he samples Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" in the chorus.

  • Devil in a new dress is the best.

  • i LOVE his samples. it takes enormous creativity and ingenuity to do it right.

  • I was so inspired by this album and his concepts that i took on producing full force. Kanye is a genius and he is one of the people i look up to in this business. Im completely listening to this and im like WOW!! its amazing how someone can take something from 40 50 years ago and remake it into a hit song. I love this guy, for his creativity and his art. Im a huge Kanye fan and My beautiful fantasy should have been nominated for album of the year....God bless

  • most of the ppl who have a problem with sampling have no idea how music is/was created, most music is sampled or has taken ideas from other things, if you have a problem with sampling you should have a problem with "originally" composed music because im sure those composer didnt "create" the chords and tones and semi-tones

  • Sampling is an art by itself. I bet half of you guys couldnt sample something and make it sound half as good

  • i'm not hearing runaway fit with its sample

  • @jsea483 the percussion

  • @jsea483 If I'm not mistaken the only thing he actually took from The Backyard Heavies for his Runaway sample was the drum beat. He added his own piano and synthesizer

  • I love watching these!

  • The fact that he has such diverse musical taste, is reason enough to give him some sort of credit. People always complain that who he sampled did it better, instead of being happy that he introduced millions of people to that artist. There are plenty of songs, from plenty of artist, I never would have heard if it wasn't for Kanye.

  • The MASTER of sampling.

  • Great Album enjoyed the vid

  • WHO does he sample with on runaway (where is says "look atcha" or "who gotcha" or whatever?). it sounds like the offspring, but i know it's not.

  • @dbowermusic Rick James and im sure it's "look atcha" it was from a live album of his.

  • GEEnius...in a weird way.

  • If you think Kanye has no musical talent, listen to All of the Lights and consider that it uses no samples. That's all Kanye, and it's probably one of his best productions ever.

  • @Niyou77 Or lift off

  • @Niyou77 Especially the interlude.

  • ...genius..because someone around him, or him himself, has a impressive music taste? And he can blend what pleases his ears into someone new..and most times, NOT as heartfelt? As far as making the beats, yes...the best hiphop producer..EVER. But as a solely original meaningful musician...not a chance. The man embodies everything pretentious, and displays it with such a pedantic manner. He does things already done, and drops it to a different demographic...that's all. Simple as that.

  • im not a fan of sampling tho

  • duuuude kanye is such a good musician for real

  • Kanye is a suckin genious. If you say samplin is "uncreative" I dare you to go get all those records and make something out of it. Without his creativity, you just have a crate full of records

  • Great video! Thanks!

  • The combination of Afromerica and 21st Century Schizoid man is earth shattering. Pure fucking brilliance, if you don't understand that GET THE FUCK OUT.

  • Good vid buy you got one wrong.

the runaway sample is Pete Rock & CL Smooth “The Basement”, not Backyard Heavies

  • @Jett2280 Yeah you right but he pulled the drums from Backyard Heavies.

  • @Jett2280 Which in turn sampled it's break from the backyard heavies.

  • dude how he get Backyard Heavies from Runaway... Thats Talent!!

  • thumbs up if you abuse vidscoop.com

  • This shows Kanye's genius. He listens to all kinds of music and can make a beat from various diverse songs. He may be an asshole, but he is a musical genius!

  • It takes talent to hear a song and find a part of it to make another beat out of it.

  • hell of a life also sampled a little of ACDC 'S Iron Man

  • @Obito96 Black Sabbath, not AC/DC.

  • @AmadioCryingKid i always wondered what part of the song was sampled

  • Look guys ,some will argue that sampling is not a creative process but they could not be further from the truth.First, the sheer amount of music a good sampler like Kanye has to sit through is a large and very eclectic .Most people only listen to one genre of music and find it hard to get joy from any other. The good sample will pick out obscure stuff that most ears pay no second thought to and then turns it in to something that is fresh in some sense. look most artists sample period .Rockers too

  • gourgeous sample another song in my opinion...turtles are tto different

  • Cant rag on him for his "Lost in the Woods" sample. The original artist is featured in the Kanye version. Putting all Kanye albums on shuffle right..now.

  • the gorgeous one doesn't sound alike at all IMO

  • Comment removed

  • @Langston900 At the end of Monster Rick Ross be like " Kanye West Samples Here's One For Example" but like we all just found out no sampes were used in that song so rick ross basicly made some shit up.

  • @jnote87 Rick Ross was talking about Kanye's verse being a sample of himself which follows right after Ross' verse

  • One can argue that those suggested songs that were sampled on Runaway and Gorgeous weren't the actual samples at all.

Or maybe that's me in denial because I'd like to think that those were originals.

  • Anyone who says that Kanye West and other sampling artists of hip-hop are "uncreative" has no knowledge of classical history, jazz history, or really the history of any other art form. You think Miles Davis was creative, right? How about the way that the vast majority of his albums were just running jazz standards--basically just rehashing of pop tunes? You think J. S. Bach was creative, right? How about his cantatas with melodies lifted wholesale from preexisting hymns?

  • @foolery21 no

  • @emectar A brilliant rebuttal indeed. I recant my statement.

  • @foolery21 hahaha

yeah i was in a bad mood i probably could have used more words. I was responding to the second part. Kanye and the other great samplers are clearly geniuses, Im adding that Miles Davis WAS creative as fuck and that he did far more than rehash pop tunes. And Bach was also unbelievably creative and the melodies he took from hymns only became brilliant when he added his touch to them.

  • @foolery21 people who are too ignorant to realize how art feeds off of itself kind of amaze me.

  • @foolery21 you just shat on so many hip hop critics right there....

  • @jerembu They deserve it.

  • I just had to listen to this album after this video. Props to Kanye and his innate talent for sampling.

  • I can't say I ever expected a sample from Aphex Twin. A nice surprise.

  • i thought ozzy osbourne was sampled by Kanye in Hell of A Life

  • @NMtB4ev4 Isn't it a sample from Iron Man?

  • @someguycalledjon It's not a sample. It's an interpolation.

  • It's from Iron Man- Ozzy Osbourne

  • devil in a new dress is a master piece of a beat.

  • 1 person can't understand the concept of sampling.

  • @smoothairyeezys There's a difference between "sampling" and "constantly ripping other songs off."

  • bro gud job but u forgot some samples lost in the world has another sample who will survive in america dats not kanye saying dat dats some black panther type dude

  • The Genius of the sampling is not just how good the samples are, but also how does someone who never grew up listening to these kind of music find these kind of songs to even sample,

Am sure when he goes to clear the samples the owners feel honoured like

''how did you find this, am the same age as your parents''

  • F what people say this man is a musical genius

  • @NINOBROWN914 hes definitely no genius but he's decent at sampling, he's alright to me.

  • @NikoLiberty1000 yeah he's no einstein but when it comes to MUSIC he's pure genius

  • pure genius

  • The boys got talent, anyone who watches this and says he doesn't is crazy.

  • Kanye tore these beats up son. He is truly a hip-hop legend

  • Hell of a Life samples Iron Man by Black Sabbath in the chorus, the way he emphasizes the words is in the same pattern as the guitar riff.

  • Blame Game sample is dope.

  • I want to know how the fuck he makes his drums so fuckin fat! also where does he get his misc samples from? like his little "Yeah and hay!" sound and the "We Got ya! at the beginning of runaway"

  • @darrylmathew576 The 'hey' is from "Funky President (People It's Bad)" by James Brown. And 'look at ya!' is from "Mary Jane" by Rick James during a concert in Long Beach in 1981.

  • @NovusOrdoNapoleonis bro you are the man... that is all

  • @darrylmathew576 who got ya is rick james

  • He can listen to Bon Ivers and say I can work with this. I have to say this guy is creative.

  • The Mike Oldfield sample which is played isn't even the real Mike Oldfield one

  • It is just soooooo crazy to think he listened to alllllll of this music to put together his album. 68 Smokey Robinson to 08 Bon Iver? 40 years of material. I just dont know how people can say he has no talent.

  • Where is this picture of Kanye West from?

  • Kanye West....the Musical Genius

  • Inspiring.

  • "What???" is exactly what I said when I heard the All of the Lights sample.

  • How the hell does he go through so much music?

  • thats a gift he has.. people gonna always hate something..

  • KanYe West is a musical genius.

    Period.

  • @ReezyXCo HELL YES! all these people that say different don't know what they talkin about

  • Gud work Bruh. Kanye is a modern musical master. Its pretty evident now. . .

  • He stole so appaled from tyga he never did that

  • @whatdo88 are you fucking stupid?? So Appalled was done in 2008 Tyga liked the beat and did a freestyle you dumbass

  • KanYeWest never loses his producing skills...He's right. The people DO need Mr.West's music.

  • is it just me, or isnt the "hell of a life" sample from "Black Sabbath - Iron Man" ?

  • Great Video.

  • kanye sits there for hours going through samples...so much patience..but patience creates art.

  • @PdubzCrew i guess it was worth it the production on this last album wus just amazing

  • Wow... This is the art of sampling..

  • "Can we get much higher?"...is that the best VOCAL sample in all of Hip Hop's history?

  • @ingawdywetrust Possibly. Definatly one of my favorites

  • OUR SAMPLES ARE BETTER CHECK OUR CHANEL OUT NIGGAZ

  • I got to give it up on being obscure...its a art to itself.

  • are his eyes crossed in the picture?

  • he sounds so weird when it's pitched up haha

  • fuckin musical genious

  • theres no one like kanye west who could go back into the 1960s take songs and turn them into a dope track he is really talented

  • Kanye sampled a lot of obscured songs I hadn't heard before this cd. Big fan of the cd. I wonder if sampling had never been discovered how many rap producers would still be in the game, or if the Neptunes would just producer every rap song.

  • nothing can beat the samples used in college dropout

  • Devil in a new dress was produced by Bink! and Mike Dean

  • what about the iron man sample in "hell of a life?"its very clear especially during the chorus

  • Monster & All Of The Lights Are Original Tracks People

  • his musical knowledge is amazing

  • Kanye didn't produce Devil in a New Dress.

  • ok so....fuck what yall heard about kanye being talentless....this proves that he has a god choice in music and hes basically a better music producer than most out here...you dont hear this going into some dr. dre produced song real shit

  • pieced together beautifully! thanks

  • Kanye is king

  • excellent job putting this vid together this is crazy

  • The Drums from "Runaway" are from a Pete Rock skit off "Mecca and the Soul Brother". That's actually where P.R. got them from.

  • doesn't all of the lights sample that song from Rocky

  • u got the runawy sample wrong.he got it from pete rock n pete rock sampled the backyard heavies

  • nicely put together. well done. first i wasn't a fan of sampling but now i think it's a legitimate/amazing musical tool

  • That "Afroamerica" song is such a dope sample to rhyme over! Kanye definitely has an ear.

  • Great Video!

  • u forgot the iron man sample in hell of a life

  • Say what you want about Kanye being talentless, but I would LOVE to have the ability to listen to a song from decades ago and make it into a Hip Hop song

  • i never heard of these songs, yet kanye always finds these old gems and samples them to hip new beats for his tracks.

  • you didn't play the right part from the turtles song that he samples

  • Comment removed

  • You forgot "It's Your Thing" by Cold Grits.

That has the Power drum sample

  • @23xkingdomkeyx23 Ya thats a prevalent drum sample that Kanye uses frequently on his tracks. I simply thought I just put the more obvious melodic sample and leave most the drum samples from the video since most people might not catch it and also to not make the video too long.

  • @23xkingdomkeyx23 did he use that sample on crack music as well ?

  • @ops049 Yes he did.

  • Thanks, good job

  • @thisiskanyemusic well in the beginning of monster Rick Ross was like "kanye west samples here's one for example" so automatically you think it was a sample.

  • what about "all of the lights" ???

  • @00RocafellA00,

No sample was used on that track....

  • With the drum solo in the song"Power", I can just imagine Travis Barker straight killing it on the drums.

  • i love kanye west, he is so perfect at balancing is ignorance with beautiful music

  • Great interpretation ! Kanye got the know how to do

  • I guess rick ross fat ass was lying in beginning of the track!

  • @jnote87 lol

  • @jnote87 about what?

  • @jnote87 I thought he was saying that people should sample monster, not that there are samples in the song

  • @jnote87 wat track??

  • @jnote87 Now look who's in trouble.

  • @jnote87 What?

  • @jnote87 What did he say?

  • @Langston900 In Monster, "Kanye West samples, ok, here's one for you"

  • What about monster???
