I have a female dog from Scooby since six years ago and I´m very happy with her. Don´t buy puppies, adopt a dog from Scooby and give a second chance to an lovely animal.

Oh my goodness! How evil to hang the dogs with the back legs touching the ground. What are they thinking? That is one of the most horrible cases of abuse I have heard. How could anyone sleep knowing any dog is dying a horrible slow death? Why do they not put these people in prison?  I get so disgusted when I hear things like this.

I think we can only beat it by learning to be more like these wonderful dogs, who learn to love and trust again, despite everything... If we were more like them, this planet would be very different!

I have rescued a greyhound last year, and I can tell you that you will never ever regret giving a second chance to one of these wonderfully silly, gentle, graceful, affectionate, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l !!! creature!

@dearmalika: Yes, I was surprised also when I found out that Spain DOES have some good laws against cruelty, but they are rarely enforced... And as you say, on the other hand, they permit bullfight! I discovered recently the "tradition" of wrapping the horns of a bull in fabric and tar, setting them to fire and letting him run in the street until he dies... WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE??!!??

I hired a dog trainer for my 6 month old golden some time ago, and when he came over one day my Sandy wouldn't go out with him - and I wasn't gonna force her - so he said: "I'll make her come over! Dogs don't think nor feel nor dream they are just animals" ...turns out he'd been mistreating my Sandy! I, of course, FIRED him and - of course - reported him... As I was firing him, Sandy was licking my hand and wagging her tail...

(and he said that dogs don't feel!)

My own retired greyhound had lots of fear issues when I rescued her. I am currently working with a dog behaviourist who absolutely HATES the word "trainer". He talks of respect, of helping the dog making his own good decisions, of training the human to listen to the language of the dog and to be clearer in his messages. I LOVE him!

Great comment! There is one thing that I don't agree with, though... when you say that we act like such animals. I think it is insulting to them! lol Animals are behaving always with a lot more grace, generosity, kindness than a lot of our fellow "humans"... Thank you so much for sharing this video! In my own country, seal hunters (I call them baby-killers), say it is their "tradition"... And Canada is supposedly "evolved"! When the mind is closed... Yes, Fermin is an amazing man! The power of one dedicated person, someone who does not accept the way things are and tries to make a difference. We hope so much that more people will be informed about the situation for the galgos, podencos and mastinos in Spain. We all have our situations in our respective countries, but these dogs have only us. The "tradition" in Spain is not one of compassion for unfortunate animals... The international community has to make pressure to change things.

Perverse? They say it is their "tradition". It is cheaper for them to kill them at the end of the season than to feed them all year. They keep enough for breeding for the next year, or the following one. People breed them on tiny balconies, in abandoned houses, feed them bread and water... Spain has a long "tradition" of poverty and using animals in a heartless fashion. Now that the world is watching, there are more laws put in place, but it is very hard to enforce them. It is a long battle...
