Whats the wwll incident and is it available to watch or was it something that happened in real life and not on the show? Also whats this episode called?
The real story is even funnier. During the WWII flashback in one episode, Dixie whipped off her overcoat and the front of her dress was tucked in her panty hose showing her "fancy". But not to worry. Hal said it was very nice. LOL.
Cultural correction: Southern women say "stockings" not hose. "Hose" is vulgar, for reasons that remain a mystery to me. The reason is probably too vulgar to say out loud! Ha! Great scene though.

I remember the night this was on, One of my favorite moments in Designing Women history... and it still makes me laugh 20 yrs later..Thats Great writing and Great acting... RIP Dixie!
I was shocked to learn of her passing. I wish some network would air Designing Women again. This show is never gets old and is always entertaining. Characters like Julia Sugarbaker should be reveered on every generation.
What I don't understand is.....where was your underwear! LOL LOL LOL
Suzanne, I told you, they ask me to ONLY wear hose, because the dress was silk and otherwise you could see a pantyline!! LMAO!! Only Julia could say it like she did!!
I saw a chick come out of a bar bathroom with the back of her dress tucked up in her panty hose not long ago. I graciously told her about it. Her boyfriend thanked me; he didn't notice either. At first he thought I was making a pass and wanted to punch me, then when I called her "sweetie" he knew what was up and wasn't threatened. Gay men are women's best friends, 'cause we tell them the truth.
THIS has got to be the funniest episode. Jullia and her panty hose incident, Charlene and her waterskiing incident; Mary Jo and the Honeymoon incident. How hysterical. ONE of the funniest ever. Thank you for posting this.
not sure of exactly when It happened. but look up the reunion show and they tell the story there. Hal Holdbrook said "Mrs. Carter your fancy is showing" or something like that.

Suzanne; Where was your underwear? Julia was concerned about a panty line. That is what thongs are for, JULIA!
biruss 3 years ago 2
Thongs weren't really worn back then. PLUS, Julia Sugarbaker in a THONG?! No way, not in a million years.
SkullNBones11 2 years ago 11
@SkullNBones11 pantie hose, not a thong.
