Don't they know that taking out a couple of the trackside cubicles that house the electronics to drive the signals and points could effectively lock up the whole Melbourne network? And as if anyone would want to catch a packed public train if there was terrorism going on. This is nothing more than a waste of money. Fix the network!!
No, Transport House is the 'main' system, not the backup. And while the input systems look similar (and for good reason!), that does not make it 1980's technology. Transport House reportedly runs on PDP11 computers from the 1970's/1980s's, whereas this new one - according to the video - is of the digital era.
