Get off your soapbox pboy6969! We understand that touching an object is not considered a foul in this particular tournament. We just disagree and believe that the rules should be changed to make it a foul. All rules aside, moving an object ball with some part of your body OBVIOUSLY takes away from the skill of the game and diminishes the hours and hours of hard work the players put into their craft.
if it is judged not to be a foul, then i, in rodneys position, would have elected to put the nine 'back' where it was, but really placed it back to a position on the table where it is really horrible. then if kiamco argued the point, i'd have said, okay get a ref then, and then he sees that it must have been a foul, and can call it.
Yo people. That was NOT a foul, RM knows the score even if you don't. The rules are known up front by both players. It may be a surprise to you that only the cue ball is live in the US Open, but both players are well aware of the US Open rules from the start.
It doesn't matter if "you" consider it a foul, that's your issue and your poor sportsmanship. If you play in the US Open, the APA, BCA, or whatever... You play by their rules, not yours. That's the grown-up thing to do.
we all understud that the rules by the US open are only cue ball foul without referee.
that is just poor for US open i tell you.
I play a lot of tournaments across EU and there was never one tournament that had such a rule! it is allways "all balls foul" with r without a referee.
such a careless and stupid mistake like that has to be punished.
In a tournament as big as the US Open, I think it's ridiculous that there isn't an "all ball foul" rule. If there is no referee I suppose it makes sense, but in that case, why does the US Open not have referees? =S
It's pretty sad when the majority of people that watch this don't even know the rules to nine ball... With no ref there it's cueball fouls only. It's like that in any nine ball(8 ball too) tournament you go to if there isn't a ref present the enitre match.
hahaha i just saw the match. man that is so stupid! ofcourse it i´s a foul and a wery STUPID one to. who the hell make such stupid rules like that. a foul is a fou is a foul no matter what ball you push one feet away. i mean come on maaaaan its the us open...
Without a referee they are playing cue-ball foul only. After Warren hit the nine-ball it was up to Rodney to return it to it's original position or leave it where it lay. In this instance it only would have been a foul if it crossed the path or affected the path of the cue-ball which it did'nt! No foul!
I would consider it a foul myself but thats not the point. If its a rule its a rule and Kiamco did advise Morris of touching the 9 ball u can see it on its gestures. but u cant expect him step back from the table if he does not have to. hard but fair in this case i think.
I just saw the match. I think Rodney was lot better in the positioning play but had a few unforced errs. Warren struggled with the cue ball almost the whole match sometimes only the luck was beside him (cue ball was "overdive" several times). And that "moving nine" was the the crown on his unstable play.
touching the nine ball is a foul!!! (sorry fellow pinoys) and that is one of the rules i was surprised rodney didn't comment on it his a nice guy that's for sure. even when i'm playing with my friends just for a dollar it is still a foul! and what do they mean it's not official?
Is a matter of courtesy and fair play to announce himself a foul. I usually only watch snooker, and something like that would be ridiculous. with or without referee
people stop complaining. like him barely touching the 9 changed the outcome of the match. and fyi, touching the 9 is only a foul on the tv table, any other table thats not a foul so stop whining. it was a great match and both players played very well. thanks for the videos bclub!!
"... touching the 9 is only a foul on the tv table..."
Where did you hear that? I never read this in the rules. Touching any ball is one of the most ridiculous fouls. If i do that I always announce foul against myself. That's the fair play. I would not happy with the win even in a race to 10 match when I lead 9:1 and the chance is almost 0 to the opponent to win. In the other hand on their level one foul is enough to lose a match.
yeah its on one of the bclub videos i forget which one, but the commentators describe it. only on the tv table is it all ball fouls. the other tables its cue ball fouls only. thats why rodney didnt care about it
Yes I heard the commentators even I think it is not a good rule. What if that slight move pockets the nine ball? He won the match? Or they respot the nine and Warren continues the shot?
fantastic match. even though i knew who would win, from following the US open last year, I was still cheering for Rodney
Kiamco's touch on the 9 ruined it for me. "if this was an official match" - as another comment here says, it is an official match, it's centre table in the US open!!
shame he got away with it, but at least he didn't go on to win the tournament. thanks for the upload
This is ridiculous, he knocks a ball with his hand (albeit accidentally) and then is allowed to just carry on playing?! Of course it's a foul! Their rules suck

wth ofcourse touching the nine is foul where did you get your hillbilly rules
touching any of the balls wrong way is foul cue 1 4 or 9

That's how they play US 9ball open. Check the rules at their site. "Hillbilly"? HUAHAHAHAHAH

if that's not a foul, what's stopping players from picking up the 9, putting it over a pocket, and then playing an easy combination in every rack?
whipy 2 years ago 2
@whipy
the other player has the option to leave it or move it back where it was originally.
Porscheman76 2 years ago
because the opponent can decide that you return the 9 ball to its original position.
majasalvador12 1 year ago
@whipy : because the other player can put it back, I guess.
