You guys are absolutely insane. Nery and Trubridge...WTF! Does anyone appreciate the athleticism and the pure audacity of these guys? I free dove once...back when...weight belt, fins, mask...I made it to 100 ft. and I was in shape then. And no...this is not like a free ascent. These guys are expending energy on the descent. It's like watching free climbers. These guys are magnificent misfits. Jeez...Props to you Wm. Trubridge. I expect that someone else is going to challenge your record...
@FueledByTyeler There's a lot of ways to equalize. You don't have to use the nose-holding method. You can swallow, move your jaw, and use other equalization techniques.
Maybe he does, you can equalize without pinching your nose. There's a jaw moving method but if you're good enough I guess you could simply push the air in the right direction.
@Rhincodontypus1 He may be using liquivision goggles. They are filled with a saline solution with a lens on the front so you can see clearly. With no air there is no need to equalize. I cant tell for sure if thats what he is using here but I know alot of deep freedivers use them.
The reason why he isn't getting the bends (That is what happens when nitrogen bubbles build up in your blood stream) is because he is holding his breath. For him to get the bends he would have to be breathing the same gas that scuba divers use. Which is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen. The only thing happening to this man as he is going up is his ears would be popping like crazy.
@Lookafatkidrunning I'm not entirely sure, but I think it's because he isn't breathing underwater. I think the air scuba divers breathe has more nitrogen, and it builds up in the blood vessels, which means they have to be careful when they surface, whereas he has only taken one breath on the surface so there is no build-up.
@falarious123 He is hyperventilating in order to get more oxygen in his lungs, for a better, longer dive. Although not something I would recommend doing due to the fact you can pass out if its done wrong or to many times.
@chocomilk788 Τhis is not hyperventilation, Its called "packing" and its a technique to force more air into his lungs, more than his ribcage muscles can inhale. Of course this could be dangerous as well if you don´t know exactly what you are doing.
yes scubagirl123, you can try get more stories on the web, for eg the myscubastory site is OK. Type myscubastory into google and its the first one, enjoy!
he wears liquid goggles. they fill with water and his goggles have a special lens on them that can make him see and not worry about the changing pressure...
Utterly amazing!! I still don't understand how you keep going deeper and deeper. I thought 88m was max! Isn't there a limit to what the human body can take?
Congratulations William ~ I am so proud of you ~ and that you are using the beautiful Bahamas and Deans' Blue Hole to accomplish your magnificent feats of history. Awesome video, and awesome feat !!

why doesn't he ever equalize his ears?
FueledByTyeler 6 months ago
@FueledByTyeler he wears something like a rubber band on his nose so he doesn't have to move his body at all for decompressing

How Comes the Pressure doesnt give him nitrogen bubbles (or whatever) from coming up that fast?
