  • are my roller hockey skate not tightening that much cause there new?

  • thanks :)

  • Chris, if I lace up my skates all the way to the top, I can not bend my knees and ankles, I move like a penguin.

Some skaters skip the top eyelet, some skip even two top eyelets. Others have another teschnique: they skip the top and the third eyelet (the one in the L of the skate), which allows ankle to flex. There are even guys who leave their laces very loose, but those have strong and trained ankles.

What do you think of these?

  • @ceghevaramea As you become more proficient on the ice, you can pretty much do whatever feels more comfortable for you. I always leave my top 2 eyelets loose, this allows me to increase the range of motion with my ankles and also take much tighter corners.. I sure other skaters and players have similar styles or have made up others. When learning its important to do things correctly, once you know its about what feels more comfortable (learn the evolve). What about yourself?

  • Not all the way to the toe atleast to the bottem of your ankle

  • that was fast and tight

  • this is not the best way to tie up skates ! :P

  • if my feet go inward shouldn;'t i tye them arround the anckle too?or should i skate with em inwards

  • Why do SOME people WRAP it around the back of the skates?

    What does it help with?

  • @pr0lite good questions, you shouldn't do that as there are a long list of problems that can cause, if you find yourself doing that, it might be a good idea to get shorter laces. So in short, it doesnt help with anything, It decreses your range. when you are in full stride, your ankle should be forward while your tendon guard is back. by tying them around the back, it restricts the motion of your ankles along side other things. hope this helps

  • @juvenilee6videos i Use to do that and some people do it cause it gives you mor esupport for people with weaker ankles And Ive done and and not And Id say with it is way easier also Hockey tape Works too

  • @pr0lite Could you list some ?

Also , i've been doing it for really long .. i fort it helped ... Should i stop doing it now ?

  • @pr0lite I’m actually in the middle of posting a short written tutorial explaining all of this, but as I always say, people are different, just because it doesn’t work for most, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you, all the disadvantages of doing this will be included in the tutorial, so take a look then decide. I'm going to post it on the hockeytutorial. com site so check it out in a few mins (you'll need to register for free before commenting on it) hope it helps

  • @juvenilee6videos kk will do =D

  • @pr0lite you can wrap the lace like that if you keep it lose at the very top. i could skate 100 percent with my skates tied that way. the reason i stopped wrapping the laces around is because it wears out the top of the skate and breaks it down.

  • @boyrandom72 i have a new video posted to the site (like on youtube channel) all about the reasons not to, take a look, and maybe register on our new site

  • @pr0lite some do it it if the ankle of there skate is abit loos to minimize ankle movement

  • are your laces waxed ?

  • @pnboss95 no my laces arent waxed. Even though waxed laces stay tight for longer and wear down less quickly, i've always prefered normal laces, (never had mine come loose).. waxed laces have there pro's and con's too

  • I often don't thread my lace through the last, highest pair of holes on the cuff. It provides way more flex and maneuverability. However, I have most definitely noticed a greater amount of speed wobbles when I skate straight (which I don't care much about). Is it better to learn a hockey stop with tight skates (lacing through all the holes), or can I add flex with my preferred way?

  • @Shahe5 A few skaters out there will tell you different things, the way I see it will always be personal preference, (its a good idea to perhaps get use to both) but just go with whatever feels right, if you’re a hockey player, no one will ask you to tie up your skates completely, it’s down to you. The wobble in your skates when going fast if probably caused by either uneven weight or not enough ankle support, to reduce this, I’d recommend doing the skates up a little around your ankle.

  • thanks man

  • Yo thanks for this video , he helped me wearly gooood !!!

  • hey, I've been watching your videos for a long time and think your great, do you play for a hockey team or do you just enjoy skating?

  • @iveanitch hey, thanks for your support means a lot :), i used to play but right now im always off and on with hockey as i live really far from the rink, but yer totally i love making these videos and skater/playing hockey whenever i can. what about yourself ?

  • @juvenilee6videos I have always wanted to play, but as i'm just starting my A-levels i wont have time, but I really enjoy skating and do as much as I can when I can

  • I have very long laces and personally I wrap them around the back and bring it back to the front before tying them so the knot is still at the front but the excess is wrapped around the boot

  • I hear people talk about "tucking the laces" how do or where do you do that? I've tried to shove them in the boot, but they keep coming out..... any ideas?

  • @linemanlocal9 i'd recommend getting shorter laces so you dont have the problem extra lace or you could try tying them twice to reduce the amount left over? tucking them in is never a good idea, a lot of people prefer to tie them around the back of the skates, maybe you could try one of those options.

  • just a questions ive seen some ppl who tye their laces around the back of the hockey skate?? is this a bad thing to do and what does it effect exactly..does it like make the boot flex un-naturally or?

  • @89RELENTLESS89 I personally don't like tying my laces around the back of the skates because it is uncomfortable, personal preference really. i've always found the people that do that have really long laces, mine are the right length, so i can tie them almost the same way i'd tie running shoes or trainers (sneakers for Americans) hope this helps,

  • @89RELENTLESS89 Wrapping laces around the skate is a bad thing to do and heres why... When you wrap the laces around the boot and begin skating, over time those laces wrapped around the back will break down the back and/or heel of the boot. Sure, its going to give you more support, if thats what youre looking for, but youll also be breaking the boot down quicker.

  • hey i was wondering i know how you said how plp have diffrent ways of tieing and comfortablity but isnt it better like for you your pulling the laces and making the "X" shape then just letting them hand wouldnt it be better if making the X and putting your finger on the lace below to not loose the tightness??...?

  • @DanBigD023 i do that by pull tightly on the laces before and during tying the knot (never had a need to place my finger on the laces), ive always preferrd it that way.
