  • no lois and clark dean cain superman?

    still awesome.

  • WATCH..;FREE';:MOVIES`,.ONLINE!.:,

  • If he and the Greatest American Hero teamed up, we'd get the opposite of division by zero.

  • How can Superman not become a perv with all that x-ray vision going on...? Also, what if he's walking right by a smokin hot lady and an older hag, how does he know when to see through and when not to?

  • This sound kinda takes you back to the 60s,I dig it!

  • Off the wall comments tonight - I think the reason IMO the superman movies and shows have been so bad of late, is the trend of trying to make him younger. At this point and time i think superman should be played by an older actor, not because of the characters actual age, but because he represents a 'golden era USA' and that's not where were at currently, those times seem long ago now and Superman belongs to them, not now. His relevancy lies in that he is not current we just wish he was.

  • @Cerbios I'd agree, but for different reasons. IMHO, the thing that makes Superman unique is that he's pretty much superhero nobility. He created the entire genre, and he basically functions as the "dad" for the entire DCU. And you wouldn't cast King Arthur or Aragorn as a twenty-five-year-old, so why Superman? I had no problem with Tim Daly or Christopher Reeve in their thirties - as a matter of fact, they're my favorites.

  • why doesnt superman just go to the bad guys house and drop a mountain on it or something?

  • what a AWESOME SONG!

  • they should make a superman movie, like with iron man graphics, cause superman is the oldest and most well known of them all.

  • Dean Cain's not here cuz he's not a real Superman! j/k. Lois and Clark rocks!

  • i couldnt get worse quality if I got an 8th generation copy, let my dog chew the tape, then let him swallow it, then when it came out, stomped on it a good few hundred times and then finally tried converting it to MP3. At a bitrate of about 9bps.

  • this is no the music video.

  • @samlegha captain obvious strikes again!!!

  • What a great cover

  • who else does this song?

  • @ih8tbush The Clique, 1969 (?).

  • Where's Kirk Alyn and Dean Cain?

  • superman born in Cleveland Ohio originally written on wall paper because the original artist had no money for art supplies.

  • 2:05 is from superman the movie the donner cut ( the directers cut of the movie).

  • Comment removed

  • Peter Buck is so damn underrated it's a joke... He's a great guitarist..

  • sounds.... tinney?

  • The original version by the Clique is much tighter vocally but this a fine cover.

  • You missed the clue. It's not about supermen, the men in the movie.

    Read the lyric

  • Fabulous song - the lyrics are GREAT. You actually believe it because he says it with such conviction.

Perfect kind of song for Mike Mills to sing lead.

  • Very nice. You really show the love for the Big Blue Guy.

  • a friend showed me this song..its just awful

  • I've heard this song in TV show "Nip and Tuck"

    It's such an awesome song!

  • For those who know DC comics and their Multiverse, George Reeves reminds me of the Superman from Earth 2 and Christopher Reeve looks like the Superman from Earth 1.

  • u miss someone... where is DEAN CAIN ????

  • Long live: REEVE - ROUTH :-)

  • what a shame... the best mix of vids to this song on here but the audio is... :(

  • haga. catchy song :-)

  • definitely :D

  • to be honest my fav superman is dean cain i think he did a really good job as superman and i loved teri hatcher as lois

  • Agree, he had the looks & the muscles

  • Dean Cain? Superman isn't supposed to look like Japanese Sushi Chef nor sound like a teenager. He was actually the worst. No one has yet to compare to Christopher Reeve.

  • he was the best superman and is a really good looking man. he does not look like a japanese sushi chef and how on earth does he sound like a teenage ? what does that even mean

  • @Kyros I think Dean Cain suited the part, it wasn't really about superman, it was more about the romance between Lois and Clark. Christopher Reeve is definitely the best superman there has been, everything about him fitted. Brandon Rough being a close second, had the script for Superman Returns been better, Brandon Rough would have been fantastic.

  • @Danielakawmd He was still the title character in the series. Besides, Cain and Hatcher didn't really have any chemistry either. I didn't buy it.

  • What's 2:05 from?

  • Superman the Animated Series. Part of the Dini-verse

  • No, the live action part right before that.

  • @ForeverFilms1995 That's the Luther's lair scene from the extended version of Superman the Movie

  • Oh! No wonder I've never seen it! Thanks!

  • If you go a million miles away I'll track you down girl~I love this song so much,it's awesome :D 5 stars.

  • I hear Stipe's voice "heiy heiy"! Distinctively Mills' voice on lead and great to hear...maybe Stipe thought Mills had earned the title. :-) Either one, GREAT SONG x

  • This song reminds me of that book king of methlehem

  • i first heard this song on the simpsons a while ago..... its a damn good one :)

  • is it the one where abe simpsons thinks he's dead?

  • stuff the video, the song is awsome :)

  • This song just proves that MIke Mills has a much better voice than Michael Stipe. Mills should have sung lead on more songs.

  • ...no way! ..Mills is talented for sure but a "Much Better" voice than Stipe? ~furrowed brow~

  • good song

  • Anyone else think that Michael Stype would make a good Lex Luthor?

  • he could

  • Does anyone have the original 1969 version by The Clique to post here? Thanks.

  • this is an amazing song

  • No, what is bad is your use of the English language.

  • why what do you listen to, rap ?

your a loser if you think REM sucks

    this video was amazing

  • Where did those colour shots of George Reeves come from? Are they just colourised versions of the black-and-white show, or was there actually something filmed with him in colour?

  • In season 3 they changed to colour

  • none of lois & clark? he is only real superman for me, and the guy from superman returns....reeves just didnt had any muscles lol

  • cool

  • yo si lo soy

  • Man this is my favorite video...So far

  • Fabulous. Ain't THAT tough enough?

  • December 11, Spidergirl. I am Superman. I can do anything.

  • Fun!

  • i heard this on the simpsons

  • Which season and episode was it?

  • Yeah, just watched simpsons (bzw watching now!) and just found the song!:-)

  • it was just on right now, so i came to look for it.

  • This is great ! I recognize all the clips. I humbly invite you to give a listen to my new song on Youtube, "If We Ever Need A Super Man" !!! ...We need one NOW !!!

    John Hunter Phillips

  • Agreed DC kicks Marvels ass

  • i like batman better but superman still kicks ass. Dc kicks marvels ass

  • I heard this song on The Simpons :)

    It's cool

  • I seriously just love this song.

  • under rated effort by REM

  • i love this video, some great editing and mixing of the different footage! just too bad it was before dbratt71 could put in some dean cain and kirk alyn or the superboy stuff!

  • heard this on csi: ny

    love it!

  • i also heard it there

i thinkit was on the second city

  • I am superman and I know whats happening.

  • "Where's Kirk Alyn, the REAL Superman?"

It was a long time ago, but if I remember correctly the Kirk Alyn Superman stuff wasn't readily available. I put this together either at the tail end of 2001 or very early 2002, so I don't remember for sure... I also had trouble finding Dean Cain of Lois and Clark, hence his absence, too. And this was obviously done well before Brandon Routh donned the cape.

For me personally, Chris Reeve will always be the "real" Superman.

  • I love this song!

  • Where's Kirk Alyn, the REAL Superman?

  • Great video. Thanks for the post!

I know I'm nitpicking but it's Christopher Reeve not Reeves. Poor guy's dead. Let's at least try to get his name right.

  • Hi Crosis--I actually put this video together about 7 years ago. I didn't have access to Dean Cain Lois and Clark episodes, or I would have included him as well. Not a lot was available (this was before most of the DVD sets were out), which actually made my life a little easier. I would have spent countless hours looking for footage. Best, Dave Bratton

  • oh and thanks for NOT including Brandon Routh, I don't claim him as Superman.

  • Actually, Crosis101, Kirk Allyn was the first live-action Superman in a movie serial that predates the George Reeves series. Most people don't know about that one. If you really want to know the history of superman, pick up a movie called "Look, up in the sky-the amazing story of Superman" It came out right before the release of Superman Returns.

  • boosh.....simply boosh

  • One of my all time favorite songs. And this video is absolutely brilliant. Thanks for posting. Rest in Peace, Christopher Reeves and George Reeves. We'll have to take care of the bad guys on our own now ... .

  • Great tune from the several years back, but it still holds up well after what, 10-15 years?

  • 22 years. Holds up great.

  • Christopher Reeves will always be my Superman. Rest In Peace Christopher "Superman" Reeves.

  • Who is the (iron) man in black and white?

  • George Reeves. The first live action Superman

  • thanks! sorry, i'm italian and i know only christopher reeves movies. I think he was a great actor. grazie mille, ciao! :)

  • @Crosis101 Actually, Kirk Allyn was the first live-action Superman. He was in the first movie serial. (He was animated for the flying scenes, though. It was done with an ealy rotoscoping technique. I'm told it looked really cool, but I've only seen still pictures.)

  • @Crosis101 Actually, Buster Crabtree was the first. He played Superman in the serials, George Reeves played him on the TV show.

  • Love at the 1:13 point, George picks that dude up like a sack up potatoes and gives him a dirty look, as if to say "How dare you run away from me, I'm Superman."

  • Good stuff,

Around 1:35, It sounds and looks like a ho down at a local juke joint...you've done well with bringing it all together.

  • awesome, i liked the variations of the man of steel over the years.

  • way to involve all incarnations of him

    very well done

  • Nicely done.

  • Nicely done.

  • RIP George and Christopher Reeves

  • Terrific! Like it even more than mine!

All that's missing is Dean Cain.

  • great video..brings back some good memories.
