How can Superman not become a perv with all that x-ray vision going on...? Also, what if he's walking right by a smokin hot lady and an older hag, how does he know when to see through and when not to?
Off the wall comments tonight - I think the reason IMO the superman movies and shows have been so bad of late, is the trend of trying to make him younger. At this point and time i think superman should be played by an older actor, not because of the characters actual age, but because he represents a 'golden era USA' and that's not where were at currently, those times seem long ago now and Superman belongs to them, not now. His relevancy lies in that he is not current we just wish he was.
@Cerbios I'd agree, but for different reasons. IMHO, the thing that makes Superman unique is that he's pretty much superhero nobility. He created the entire genre, and he basically functions as the "dad" for the entire DCU. And you wouldn't cast King Arthur or Aragorn as a twenty-five-year-old, so why Superman? I had no problem with Tim Daly or Christopher Reeve in their thirties - as a matter of fact, they're my favorites.
i couldnt get worse quality if I got an 8th generation copy, let my dog chew the tape, then let him swallow it, then when it came out, stomped on it a good few hundred times and then finally tried converting it to MP3. At a bitrate of about 9bps.
For those who know DC comics and their Multiverse, George Reeves reminds me of the Superman from Earth 2 and Christopher Reeve looks like the Superman from Earth 1.
Dean Cain? Superman isn't supposed to look like Japanese Sushi Chef nor sound like a teenager. He was actually the worst. No one has yet to compare to Christopher Reeve.
he was the best superman and is a really good looking man. he does not look like a japanese sushi chef and how on earth does he sound like a teenage ? what does that even mean
@Kyros I think Dean Cain suited the part, it wasn't really about superman, it was more about the romance between Lois and Clark. Christopher Reeve is definitely the best superman there has been, everything about him fitted. Brandon Rough being a close second, had the script for Superman Returns been better, Brandon Rough would have been fantastic.
I hear Stipe's voice "heiy heiy"! Distinctively Mills' voice on lead and great to hear...maybe Stipe thought Mills had earned the title. :-) Either one, GREAT SONG x
Where did those colour shots of George Reeves come from? Are they just colourised versions of the black-and-white show, or was there actually something filmed with him in colour?
This is great ! I recognize all the clips. I humbly invite you to give a listen to my new song on Youtube, "If We Ever Need A Super Man" !!! ...We need one NOW !!!
i love this video, some great editing and mixing of the different footage! just too bad it was before dbratt71 could put in some dean cain and kirk alyn or the superboy stuff!
It was a long time ago, but if I remember correctly the Kirk Alyn Superman stuff wasn't readily available. I put this together either at the tail end of 2001 or very early 2002, so I don't remember for sure... I also had trouble finding Dean Cain of Lois and Clark, hence his absence, too. And this was obviously done well before Brandon Routh donned the cape.
For me personally, Chris Reeve will always be the "real" Superman.
Hi Crosis--I actually put this video together about 7 years ago. I didn't have access to Dean Cain Lois and Clark episodes, or I would have included him as well. Not a lot was available (this was before most of the DVD sets were out), which actually made my life a little easier. I would have spent countless hours looking for footage. Best, Dave Bratton
Actually, Crosis101, Kirk Allyn was the first live-action Superman in a movie serial that predates the George Reeves series. Most people don't know about that one. If you really want to know the history of superman, pick up a movie called "Look, up in the sky-the amazing story of Superman" It came out right before the release of Superman Returns.
One of my all time favorite songs. And this video is absolutely brilliant. Thanks for posting. Rest in Peace, Christopher Reeves and George Reeves. We'll have to take care of the bad guys on our own now ... .
@Crosis101 Actually, Kirk Allyn was the first live-action Superman. He was in the first movie serial. (He was animated for the flying scenes, though. It was done with an ealy rotoscoping technique. I'm told it looked really cool, but I've only seen still pictures.)
Love at the 1:13 point, George picks that dude up like a sack up potatoes and gives him a dirty look, as if to say "How dare you run away from me, I'm Superman."
no lois and clark dean cain superman?
still awesome.
