I love when people ask "who's your favorite singer " and I say John Prine and they say "John Who' and you just think to yourself "god they dont have a clue what they've missed all these years, thanks my friend
Bought this DVD a few years after it aired. I will never forget channel surfing and catching this. My Girlfriend was like "You coming to bed" and I just couldn't turn him off.
Been to see him twice and I have this DVD and his last CD.
John Prine Live From Sessions At West 54th on Oh Boy Records, released Sept 2001, but I don't know the date of the original TV broadcast. Classic song by JP that I remember well from my teenage years. I saw him in Glasgow about four years ago and have missed at least one return since then. Just good music.
I was so lucky to pick this up in the Ernest Tubb Record shop in Nashville. This early 2000ish DVD is perhaps Prine's best work as far as execution. The songs were mostly written in 1970ish. But with David Jenks and Jason Wilbur, I think it was penultimate. I saw JP @ Philly folk fest in this era with this act, and recently @ Kirby, Wilkes-Barre, PA. 10 years on the road same act wore it down a bit. So I love this performance more than any other, buy it!
One great song writer, been following John prine for many many years
