  • this isnt really advanced compared to the tornado kick, you can learn this in under an hour and its recomended to learn this move on a bed so you dont get any back injurys or any other ones.

  • I found an easy way to gradually practice and perfect this move, without hurting your back, is by stacking puzzle mats up on the floor and doing the technique on top of those mats. Then removing the mats one at a time as you get better at the technique! At first I stacked 12 puzzle mats, enough for me to do this very easy. Then removing one or two after I felt comfortable with my technique. I got down to 3 puzzle mats above the floor and still able to do the technique, but just barely.

  • Finally, I am able to do these! I was focusing too much on pushing up an not forward enough. I would lift up high and plop down hard on my back. I need lots of forward momentum to stand back up and like a handspring I need to whip my arms forward to compensate for my extra upper body mass. I also land on the balls of my feet, this lets me get my feet a couple extra inches underneath my body center for better stability when standing back up.

  • Thanks, this is the technique I wanted to see. Most people do the break dancing version of the 'kip up', where they use their triceps to push their back off the ground. I can do handsprings. In this version it looks like you are whipping your arms forward to stand up like a handspring. I have too much upper body mass to do the 'break dance' version it's impossible for me to push up my back high enough. But I think instead I can do them by whipping my arms forward hard like a handspring.

  • @musicmakespeace your wrong, she using her hands to slap the ground and help her get up. It's little harder than regular kick-up, but faster and allows the use of your hand for fight ect. right after getting up. It's easier than regular no hand kick up. Generally if you can do a good kick-up it will take you very little time to learn this one.

  • Wanna look up other examples of this, it's also known as a "kip up".

    It's much easier if you actually use the palms of your hand though as opposed to the back of your wrists like what she was doing. This is a regular kip up, there's also the suicide kip up and the butterfly kip up.

  • i learned at my soccer game during warm up and i got without hands then i practiced with hands when i got home and i got too many whiplashes

  • the shaolin take it one step further: kickup without kicking. it's just winding your legs back, and making your abs do the rest of the work. how fun.
