Its a shame you kept on pausing your video on the interesting part, and it wore off all the oxide. I was on my softail today and dodging speed humps when my knee clipped a bush and yanked my pants. As only a few inches from curb I ground bike against it. Very lucky not to crash, but only going slow, different story if going faster..
something to try if you see a dog that you think or know will chase you is down shift and once it gets close hit the throttle. Its worked for me but only if I see the dog first and you can't avoid riding past it.
My mom and dad were on their moterclycle before I was born were just riding back to the house. Sudenly, BAM!! My dad hit a horse while going 60 miles per hour while my mom fell off the back seat and fell uncosisius. They had to go to the hospital. My mom also broke her neck and spine. My dad just hurt his knee.
That is a lesson incident I have avoided in my 29 years of riding bikes and never owning a car. I have left cliff corners at 70mph but on Kawasakis which cut down brush pretty good :o)
Just remember when riding a bike, you put yourself in every position on the road. If someone hits you or you hit something there was the decision to avoid it before riding. Trust your gut, if you have bad attention or drink even 1 beer no sympathy. Speed is unforgiving on the body.
heh, I was looking up these types of videos because I just had a very similar accident. I was driving home just entering a nearby town, 1:30am... going about 70KM/h and it hit me from the side. I tried to kick it away from me but it smashed my foot into the side of my bike... I stayed upright and drove myself to the hospital... I had to broken bones in my right foot. This all happened just last night (Aug 21st 1:30am)
I hit a full size German Shepard with a Honda750 @ 65mph. Dog came out of nowhere! Tried to brake but hit him in the hind legs. Watched him do 360s as I flew through the air then all went black when I landed on my head. Woke up in the hospital a couple days later with two broken arms, three broken fingers, one broken ankle and a massive concussion. Almost died due to the head injury. Stupid me, no helmet on. Always wear a helmet! Took a year or so to remember what happened.
Crazy. I had a basset hound do the same to me while riding my Bonneville, I stuck my foot out and hit it in the head with my boot heel to keep him away from my bike. The dog yelped loudly and it spun him out into a 360. I saw he was running in the opposite direction in my rear view mirror. Don't think he'll try it again. People need to leash their pets.
I agree, a pet animal acting without control is not to blame but if an animal like wild dog, cougar or bear attacks all concern for it's well being is secondary, you have to protect yourself. In this case the owner must have known the dog had issues with bikes! I have had a jack russel attack the BSA and the owner laughed at first as I skidded. Hairless "human" apes should not keep pets,
i agree with pets owned buy stupid apes, but in my case it was a "homeless"cat i adopted it XD. we should kick some apes ass when they are not givin proper atention to their pets
that same exact shit happend to me! but i was doing 85 and tryed to stop and wound up breakin my arm in 2 spots, my clavical in half, and three ribs... also got a great burn from the exhaust.. im just glad im not the only one that has hit a fuckin dog
It's funny I thought that setter could reverse direction and beat the 60's scrambles champ 441 to the end of block. LOL!
S
-320lb BSA vs 55lb dog becomes questionable for safe roll over hit, if you check the vid "into the woods..." I actually brake for a crow using a crosswalk, I hit a flying mallard once so know what a bird that size can do even at 30mph. Flapping around between chin and chest ha ha
I'm a biker too (Hornet 600) m8. Know what you mean about animals. I avoid them, all especially the dead ones. Tip for dogs in this situation: wave the nearest leg, sole towards it then accelerate hard or try clutching in and giving it an earful. Alternatively shoot the fuckin owner.
LOL! yeah and that was when there was more bailing wire than fasteners on it! I was lucky almost anything he bit would have come off. So close to my foot I lifted it up to handlebar moving out of the way.
My car used to get chased by this dog every day that wanted to bite the front tires. I'd speed up to cause him to end up behind the car so he wouldn't be hurt. The owner thought I was trying to hurt the dog, so he chased me with his car down some roads once. What a jerk.

Macintosh computers had a horrible refresh rate even a jacked up Radius Mac llfx with 256megs of ram and a scsi 2 gig drive array.
1993 before Mac went PC and ditched Motorola, this is originally cinpak encoded.

I hope the dog is dead. I further hope the owner of said dog never has another out-of-doors pet.
