I hope they threw out mandatory coverage when they got rid of the public option. I was really hoping for this reform to be a sea change, but now I kind of side with Sen. Lieberman. It's time to get reasonable and cut out the big programs to focus on the most effective small reforms. We can still put some good regulation and cost controls in place and get it passed with bipartisan support. It won't be what we hoped for from the beginning, but it'll still be a win for the people.
