  • Totally off topic...But I see a Fender Jazzblaster at 1:07 :D

  • awesome vid, glad to see someone else likes portland as much as me

  • @Jackass610 Yes, it rains a lot! When I lived in Oregon, from early November to mid-January (winter of '05-'06) on average it rained 24 hours a day for about 6 days a week. But I'm that kind of person that likes clouds and rain, so it didn't bother me too much. It doesn't even get that cold there, the coldest it'll get at night is usually in the 30's, sometimes as low as the 20's.

  • Geez sometimes I feel like a Portlander that was born and raised in the wrong place. In a little less than 2 years I will be moving back up there. I don't want my kids growing up in the same awful place (the LA area) that I did! I couldn't get rid of the spell that Oregon put on me if I tried :)

  • I love living here in Portland!!

  • Awesome video of Portland!!! Love The Portland!

  • @Jackass610 Most of the time but when it's sunny it's HOT :D

  • Someone described Portland as a dark paradise. I couldn't agree more. It's another world with it's on ways and feel. I love it up there. I don't know, it's like a post industrial wasteland in a way. Everything is so worn and old. Portland wears it's history on it's sleeves. Jubitz truck stop is one of the best there is and it's right there on Marine drive, Gotta love Portland.

  • I think you need a hug.lol. a lot of what your saying is true but its up to you to seek out the good people and not let the assholes get to you,use some heavy sarcasm with em.just fux wit em.peace and love from the 503

  • Lora K hates drama!

  • What's the weather like in Portland. I imagine clouds and rain all year for some reason. I'm looking to get out of this hell hole that some call Michigan. Been looking into cities in the north west. Both US and Canada.

  • Portland got a lotta niggers?

  • No, it has worse, Liberals. As far as the eye can see.

  • @helmsbarn Stay the hell out of here Helm, no assholes will be happy here!

  • Yeah, Portland is great. It is my home and is one of the greatest cities in the world. But to paraphrase former Oregon governor Tom McCall, you're welcome to visit but please don't stay!

  • Nice video. Cool song.

  • The Castle Rose still loves you!! Jess and I dig your video! Hope all is well. Clint

  • deb, you don't like sydney?

Portland is without a doubt the best fukkin city in the US. and i've lived in alot of cities. what do you thing are the other best cities in the world, friends?

  • Agreed!

  • hey ive lived in 32 cities in the states and hated almost all of them( thats why I moved so much) but I have to say that out of allll of those cities portland was the most independent beautiful places ive ever lived.Thank god( or what ever) for the trains buses and bicycles there. All the great arcades where I can get a pitcher of beer and see a band at the same I play pac man.I love portland .unfortunately im in sydney AU now

  • Yea me too, lived in Atlanta, Las Vegas and several more different cities now I live in Honolulu, Hawaii...But I was thinking about moving to Portland or Vancouver, Washinton. Ty I need to knw i'm making the right choice. How is Australia?

  • Portland Oregon is the best city on the planet

  • It would be if it wasn't wet or cloudy 9 months out of the year,

  • your a fucking idiot

  • Portland is a gret city, a bit rainy, but still cool. At least it isn't all hot and smoggy. So screw you Portland haters >:P

  • Portland is the worst part of the state of Oregon. It is infested in herd mentality urban sheep.

Oregon is struggling to keep it's independent thinkers in the face of thi new urban mentality.

  • there is no place that is safe from urban mentality so guy before you talk shit about a persons home take a deep look at your own

  • I took a deep look at my home town and came to the sad realization I outlined here. You see, I have been an Oregonian for much longer than you have existed. Most of that time has been in Portland.

I speak my mind here because of the very statement you made. Oregon needs to be protected from the homogenized urban mentality that largely exists in Portland. One case in point is the very narrowly defined Portland experience described within this video.

  • anywhere you go its the same ive been in several states and seen the same thing

  • Comment removed

  • hipster gaylords

  • rednecked pig-fuckuh

  • it is quite amazing!

  • god bless Oregon

  • very cool vid.

  • too bad for you, you obviously belong in that shit hole. And how is "shitty people" and "dumb fuck" not a negative attitude??? Your the dumb fuck! Oregonian! Do you smell too???

  • i finally left that dark, cold, depressing, alcoholic, boring, rainy, dingy shit hole! Portland sucks! If Oregonians would ever travel they would find that out. I don't understand how anyone can show up there and think they're home...must be pretty bad where they came from!

  • Amen brother!

  • fuck you

  • Where the fuck do you live that is so great???? lol

  • my favorite place is Alberta

  • was this video filmed with super 8?

  • Ah, Oregon... particularly Portland of which I am a lover and a resident. Love it! Hell yeah!

  • How I miss Powell's bookstore! *sigh*

    Thx!

    Shalom *&* Blessings!

  • Portland, Oregon is known for Bible-thumpers and druggies. A great city overall.

  • powells rules!!!!

  • Portland is a dismal fag-town

  • Does that frighten you, little boy?

  • Great Video, Love It!!! Portland is the Best City!!!

  • I think about Portland a lot. I wanna move there within the next yr. Great vid also.

  • I love how it's made to look like an old time home movie.

  • I want to come home now =(

  • ugh. i just got back from portland not 8 hours ago, and already i am longing to go back. thank you for letting me reminisce through your luverly video.

p.s. we have the same hat. only mine is green.

  • The video represents Portland well! Luved it!!!

  • Portland is the best city in the world! Hands down.

  • No, Chicago is better

  • Chicago's great. I'll give you that. Any place that spawned Steve Albini, Touch and Go Records and the best pizza in the world is aces in my book.

I still love Portland more though. Sorry, Johnny.

  • chicago is the gooch of the world! And the pizza is halfass, Portland owns Chicago!

  • I haven't been to Chicago...but I think each city is awesome for something different...like we all offer something different, If that made sense.

  • @rktsncalnc Yes it is i live there!

  • Oh and the music scene has to be the best in the country or one of the top 5.

  • Portland rules no doubt. I am on my last day visiting and going back home after a long fiasco (ask more). But when I come back again, I am definitely moving to Portland.

City has enough races so to those who say theres no culture, STFU please. Theres mexicans, asians and what not.

ITs definitely the cheapest city youll get for a place with as much culture as it does altho a real weak chinatown thats a downfall.

The foodtrucks tho, cant beat that shit.

  • Really great video, I enjoyed it immensely! I will visit Portland, Oregon for the first time, in August. It will also be my first time in any state west of Missouri, with the exception of California and Hawaii. I am really looking forward to seeing the mountains and trees. Chicago is a really exciting city, full of alternative culture, but I have a feeling that I am going to be surprised by the atmosphere and people of Portland. Kudos.

  • the problem is I'M NOT WHITE, i love portland, my brother (who is black) has lived there for 3plus years, has said many times that the people there just can't believe a black person listens to the music he does, and i listen to WAY better music (beach boys apples in stereo mahogany), so racially, it's not so "west coast" cool, whatever that means, lol. it was base of operations for many white power operations for many years, and that vibe is still present, do you even KNOW any non-whites there?

  • Portland is far from being a Racist city with no Blacks.. HA HA HAAAAA !! There's more blacks than whites in a lot of area's in Portland. Don't argue with me , I have lived in Portland 33 years , I think I know my city.

  • Before my mom dragged me away, my highschool had a 70% black population.

  • Portland does not have a **"race" problem. Folks seem to get on rather well.

    **Whatever a "race" is.

  • I agree.

  • I know what you mean. Especially North Portland, where I am.

  • i live in portland oregon it's so chill..it's ridiculous for something to be so good :D

  • PDX IS THE PLACE TO BE!

  • Drive your SUV back to california then.

Yeah our cops are some real dickheads.

And yeah cost of living is getting tough, only really recently though.

KKK Central? I don't even know what to say to that, maybe the outside metro area but not the REAL portland.

No nightlife after 10? Are you fucking kidding me!? Who's the lame asshole who showed you around my city? Bars and clubs don't even close till 2:30am.

    DEATH TO THE HIPSTERS!!!

LETS TAKE BACK HAWTHORNE FROM THOSE FUCKING DEADBEATS!!!

  • unless you live here then shut up. I don't like it here but it's not as bad as you make it sound. It's better off then most places in the country

  • Leaving Portland was such a mistake.

  • this is a lovely "ode to portland"

it reminds me of my still photography

i dig on the morning jam and bread shot

and the shadow of the walking legs

and the sun shining through the trees

(and of course the pooch at the end)

  • Fucking hippies

  • Vostok, Antarctica, is the best city on earth

  • Maybe your language was over the top, but you DID have a point. I was born and raised there, even had a college radio show for 5 years, but sometimes the indie guys and bike wemyn sometimes made me feel out of place in my own home.

  • Hey! That pink-elephant car wash sign is a few blocks from the Space Needle in Seattle, isn't it? Maybe I'm wrong, and some cool bicycle messenger stole it and relocated it since I left.

  • I miss my home...

  • I live in Corvallis now,

though i keep on attempting to convince my parents into moving to Portland-

it's sort of futile, but i can't help myself.

I think Portlands practically the best place on earth:]

I actually intend to spend most of my spring break up there,

    whooot!

    :]

  • and you are .. who again? its NONE of your fuckin business how im doing. but if youve got such an informed opinion of who i am, then why dont you open up your big ass mouth again so you can stick your OTHER foot in it as well?

  • Taken and accepted.

  • Listen, before you rag on PDX, try living back East or in the Midwest. There are plenty of us who would rather be in the Rose City. Don't take what you've got there for granted. Long live Portland!

  • I love the city of Portland like no other. I live across the river, but it's basically my second home :]

  • I am moving there November 1st!!! Great video. I liked the feeling of it.
