Nalbandian avenged his countryman's loss :) Federer was so inspired in this match ,but the scoreline doesn't tell how competitive this match was... Drunk or not,Gaudio played quite stable throughout the match ,but against him he had Federer who was ripping every single ball with finesse and skill.
no way, it was a wipe out, i remember it well. Gaudio gave up and only put some effort a handful of times throughout the match. Federer didn't do anything more than his usual.
mentira, fue el 2006, ahi gano mas partidos q en los otros años, gano 3 grand slams y llego a la final de todos, ademas gano el masters que se jugo a final de año, y solo fue derrotado por 2 jugadores (Y)
yes, he does have a French Open title, but it was only because Coria choked and got hurt in that match. Heck, Coria was cramping so bad in the final two sets he could barely stand and Gaudio still almost lost!
yeah i realize gaudio was very very very lucky to win that title. roger may never be so lucky unless nadal blows out a knee or something. gaudio's got talent but his relatively easy draw and coria's mental fragility won him the french.
If you even had watched the match, Coria got leg cramps and he was moving like trash. The only mental weakness in that game was in the 5th set when Gaudio started tightening up, but Coria ended up too bothered to win. Gaudio is not a horrible player though. He has a very nice backhand and he is pretty quick.
no i didn't see the match but i've read that coria has been known to fake cramps to pysch out his opponent and then run around full speed like nothings wrong the next set. plus coria did choke whether he was cramping or not: i believe he had 2 match points in the fifth that he failed to win.
It is quite ironic because Coria has almost never shown mental frigility until that French Open final. Gaudio is the one that usually has a weak mental game while Coria is usually consistent.
I wonder why? I think Gaudio is too hard on himself and he's not that mentally strong. He's a great player though. I just hope reaches the top 10 again.

Damn, Gaudio. You're a Grand Slam champion. You can't even win a game by accident? Jeez. Ouch.

dang, Gaudio can open up a bagel shop. he's too young for a bagel shop though. or maybe he'll work at Panera bread until then.

Gaudio's problem on non-clay surfaces is his forehand.

Wow this must have ruined his confidence badly. It's no wonder he hasn't been doing well at all since.

Is the announcer drumming on the desk as he's watching this match?
krogdog 4 years ago
No. That drumming like sound comes from the players running on the court, which causes some echo.
