@mrgoldenmusic & @mcdudley: It amazes me that somehow ExpertVillage always manages to find a way to offer less than ideal (and sometimes downright dangerous) advice, no matter what the sport. The same thing is a problem in rock-climbing advice from EV, but the problem in climbing is that beginners often have the means to easily get out into a dangerous situation after watching a few videos and thinking they're ready for st they're not. I can't bring myself to be Darwinian enough not to worry.

The second method for holding brakes that you show is dangerous as it's difficult to get your hand away from the brake in an emergency! If you need to deploy your reserve you will be still attached to the brakes and may make your situation worse than it needs to be. Personally I just hold the brake handle with my finger tips and don't go anywhere near the lines! gives me plenty of feel for the glider with just a little pressure kept on during flight!

@mcdudley Oh, man! I couldn't believe he recommended that method for holding a brake line. Like you say - that could be fatal. Crazy!
It's a great pity he suggested that.

I don't get my fingers on the line when holding the brake. I just hold the part where the line begins, in a handle like way.
