I have SKY (as I cannot get Freeview reception where I live). Hundreds of channels of crap. We don't know how lucky we are with the BBC- we need to protect it. £11.88 a month is so worth it for what we get.
SKY is about £20 a month- and look at how crap it is! Yet people don't complain about paying more for that, than for the licence fee?!!! Madness!
@Dysnomia303 I'd say it's the best argument for it.
As it is about the commercialisation of the television landscape and the bad effects on choice it has. If you deregulise the market and allow more players to participate (I.e. commercial televison) you get more bland programming.Offcourse the argument isnt completely 100% true, it is true that the best TV programmes in Uk come from BBC, so the conclusion to draw here is the best health care is done by the government.

@CaptainBanglawala they may both be full of shit but at least one is a useful medical instrument and doesn't just give you salmonella

Best argument against America's health care system for sure.

I'm American and this skit reminds me of the GOP in some ways.

Thanks so much for posting - just listened to one of Stephen's podgrams on the BBC in which he mentions this sketch - genius! ;D

Me too- I looked this up because of that podgram, and I see exactly what he's saying.
You could probably compare this to the arguments of some people in the US over Obama's new health service proposals. You think?

"Yeah, you must get used to people calling you a complete dickhead I suppose"
This is a favourite sktech of mine from mine, due to its length and entire hysteria.
