  • 7 pessoas tem mal gosto The Sweet é Suuuuupremo

  • When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone he had 3 missed calls from Chuck Norris

  • la canción es del año 1971, excelente

  • he sure was hot

  • Comment removed

  • Bell did not steal the idea of the telephone. This was the longest patent case in US History and Bell won fair and square. It was just inevitable that the phone was going to be invented given the technology that was available at the time--it was just a matter of who was going to do it first. It was a rush. In fact Bell got his patent papers into the patent office just hours before the other guy.

  • @katculla - I stand corrected..

  • @rogan71 Bell didn't steal anything... many people had the idea for the telephone... one big difference though... bell was the first one to make one that actually worked!

  • great

  • I AM THE REAL "SORAYA BILLINGE" I AM NOT ARNELAS.......

I WAS BORN AT BOOTH MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.........NYC USA..............

BOOTH MEMORIAL HOSPITAL HAS A DEEP SECRET.........

  • If I'd have been a groupie in those days I would have jumped Brian's bones for sure. What a lil sexpot he was!!RIP mate.

  • @stellaashker1 LOL, Great minds think alike! Brian sure was a Hottie!

  • @Badfingerbabe777 Hi. I've just subscribed to your channel. You certainly love the 60s and 70!!!!!. Some of your videos are just wonderful!!! Thanks to you I've got loads more viewing to do now!! Yes, these 2 decades were something special - all decades since just pale into insignificance. I remember trying to do my hair like Farrah Fawcett all the time - and failing miserably!!

  • love this

  • I wanna see Andy Scott's Priest in concert!

  • oh to listern to this song again and think of the 70s. the sweet was the best rip brian we will miss you xxxxx

  • rest inpeace brian, sadly missed

  • Quite an odd name for a rock song.

  • @probrojeffro Yeah, but what do you expect them to call a song thats a tribute to alexander graham bell? They could have called it Telephone, but that would be a bit cheesy as well. Besides, several sweet titles were odd or cheesy for rock songs, co-co for example... or wig wham bam...

  • Brian looks bored

  • pure bubblegum.

  • coooooooooooooooooooool

  • i luv dis song nd im only 13 xD

  • @bdjad me too

  • Harmonies were pure magic. On a par with Queen. Should have been just as big.

  • I like this track very much although i prefere their harder rock songs.

    Brian's vibrato sounds great here.

  • cool....Didnt know this vid existed..(bet I spelt that wrong lol)

  • Didn't know they made a video for this song - I used to LOVE this song...hell..I still do! thanks for posting

  • Magic track, from a magic band, from magic days.......

  • Not sure how they came up with this compared to Blockbuster, Ballroom Blitz and Teenage rampage? It all started to go down hill with this, Wig wam bam and Fox on the run, but hey the chicks still loved them!

  • @baz4111

Wig Wham Bam was before any of the songs you mentiond in your post

  • Brian looks damn fine in purple, my fave colour, my fave man hehehe

  • Superb band and Mick and Brian are sadly missed.

  • Great catchy tune.

  • certainly lady Ga ga would have been at a loose end

  • this band was and still is awsome anyone says no see me now

  • Why NOT write a song about Alexander Graham Bell!? Where would we be without the telephone!:)

  • @sallythewerewolf writing lots of letters?

  • @1960unclemort LOL!

  • a trubute to the telephone inventer Alexander Graham Bell?

  • God what a ridiculous theme for a rock song, how on earth did they ever get the idea to write that?

  • because they were awesome! haha

  • a) music videos are not recorded live so ignore their veiled attempts at attempting to give the illusion they are palying live, (did anyone seriously try to mime for a video before MTV?)

    b) The Sweet have an extensive back catalogue, most of which is their own material.

    c) They influenced practically ever half decent hair metal band that appeared in the 80's, not to mention established acts like Kiss, Cheap trick and ELO.

    d) maybe c) was not a good thing in hindsight.

  • @mickusher, good correction.

  • cheese but brilliant

  • They DID play their instruments...however, strings and horns were added. Any idiot can tell that.

  • the worse they ever performed, no wait: on these early songs they didn´t play the instruments, skilled listeners can hear that:)

  • Lol, 0,35-0,40 slow zooming in on purple crotch.

  • Thank you for uploading!

  • One hell of a band! Desolation Boulevard is the best rock album ever! hands down!

  • one of the better bubblegum bands

  • Erm - what's with the 0:36 shot? Hehe...

  • muito bom cara, parabens, o maior orgulho da minha vida foi pegar autografo e tirar uma foto com Andy Scott

  • Simply an excellent great song!

  • one of the sweet's finest

  • fuck you

  • How the fuck can good singing and good performing sound like crap??? This was in their ealier days, a sign of the times!!!

  • Thank you for uploading! The Sweet had great vocals.

  • I always like their "layered" vocals on their tracks. Their musical compositions made them a very unique glam-rock band from the early to mid 70's, although I'm sure Chinn and Chapman wrote most of that early stuff for them, however, it was the Sweet made it "happen", though. : )

  • I think the lead singer has been put on hold eternally, are the others still with us? Wasn't he also the cousin of the leading man in the Taggart series?

  • Oh dear.

Brian Connolly leadsinger died in 1997.

Mick Tucker Drummer died in 2001.

Andy Scott guitarplayer is still out there doing a great job as the only original

    member.

Steve Priest Bass player lives in USA

  • Thanks for the info. This particular number is my favourite.

  • It`s a pleasure.

Yes,The Sweet were a great band.

  • great song, shame it was paired up with crap like Coco and Papa Joe. I think this is the direction the band wanted to take, but they got saddled with the teeny bob image and had to churn out shite like Coco. Is it me or does this performance look like a band that are very tired?

  • I don't know if anyone has already said it but this song is not from the "Funny" album. The only singles on it were Funny Funny and Co-Co. A couple of B sides are on it to.

  • I bought this when it came out,i`m sure it never reached the top 30? got to no 32 if memory serves me correct.

  • I think it reached no 33 in oct 1971

  • Thank you, this was great!!! Wow!!

  • Oh, How Brian really needs his tambourine!!!! He's still awesome - almost as awesome as Steve!!!!!!!!!

  • @Brusselsprout06

yes yes your totally right :D

  • One of my fav Sweet songs. This video seems quite different from the other videos I have watched but not in a bad way. I like their outfits, how each person in wearing one particular color - purple, black, silver, and gold. They all look good, especially when wearing something tight.

  • You could imagine Roy Wood or the Move singing this....

  • can anyone recommend a Sweet DVD to buy? like, post a link???

i'd love one that has most of their hits, either promos like this or TOTP performances.... and not many interviews from the 80s. lol.

you'd think now that their management has released a "Anthology" CD this month, an accompanying DVD would go down a treat?

  • Look for 'The Sweet Gold 20'. The CD has all their best tracks, including this one.

  • i'm after a DVD, though. i have their 45s and a CD or two with their greatest hits..... i'm just waiting for an actual DVD.

i have an old video, "Ballroom Blitz" with interviews and TOTP clips etc, but yeah.

  • I have their best of CD which doesnt have this ! RAGE!!! I need to buy their entire catalog cos they're SICK !

  • this is almost like a schoolhouse rock video

  • is there a dvd i can buy that has all of The Sweet's greatest hits like this? old clips, vintage footage??? there seems to be one or two, but it's all interviews etc :(

  • I don't know but i hope there is. I've got glitz, blitz and hitz but think its the one you mean. and its only got a snippet of wig wam bam - which is my favourite - i was well gutted

  • Awesome song. And yeah that is true he wanted people to say ahoy when they picked up the phone. Sweet's earlier songs are the best ones.<3

  • Alexander Graham Bell was Canadian.

  • I thought he was Presbyterian.

  • "Alexander Graham Bell was Canadian. "

    Scottish actually...

  • I like this song....its an odd subject to sing about but its great.Does this song have a hidden meaning??

  • Love, "The Sweet". We are all stoned immaculate!!!

  • The best Song of Sweet´s Beginnings.

  • good song never heard of it though.

  • This was a great song i am a big Slade fan but i loved hearing this band

  • Alexander Bell hated the word "Hello" when he invented the telephone he insisted that the pick up word should be "Ahoy oy".Its a fact.

  • Brian really needs his tambourine

    Andy looks bored.

...and Steve - well, I love Steve - he always looks awesome!!!

  • actually, steve looks kinda stoned?? How could that be...he must have been on prescription medication

  • Brian and Mick looks really bored as well.

    Steve does look kinda stoned.

And Andy finally gets a good shot in one of the videos, all the others seem to hardly ever get a good shot of him. Wig Wam Bam and Ballroom Blitz?

  • the lyrics crack me . what were the sweet thinking.

  • This was the true lowest point for the Chinn/Chapman songwriting team.

  • thanks for posting!

  • OBVIOUSLY, this is the greatest song about Alexander Graham Bell ever written. No doubt.

  • I agree. Now, we just need to find one about Marconi or Morse...

  • @merrittfan so true

  • @merrittfan

If Alexander Graham Bell had a teenager, he would never had invented the telephone ! :o)

Greetings to all loyal Sweet fans around the world

    Ole (Sweet fan since 1973)

  • @merrittfan What about Bell Boy by The Who?

  • Steve looks sooooo stoned lmbo.Rip Brian and Mick..,ur fans will always love and miss you.

  • who was it who did the deeper bass/baritone harmonies??

  • Mick sometimes did them, Steve did mid range with Brian, Andy did the high pitch of the harmonies.

  • YEAH !!! THAT`S HORNY MUSIC !!! SWEET 4ever

I LOVE IT FOR THE REST OF MY LIVE !!!

  • voll cool das video haben die leute von sweet gut hingekriegt

  • This song is sweet...

  • something i just noticed Brian hits his knee alot in this vid....lol

  • He needs his tamporine!!!

    nice song.

  • It was a Brian action. He does it alot in videos when he's missing his tambourine

  • And it sure looks sexy!

  • Great video of a GREAT band.
