  • do ur drums a favor and tune them bitches

  • @drummingmw2skatefrea

This video is almost 3 years old, bro. At least watch a more recent one before you decide to post a negative comment.

  • I thought it was pretty good until 2:38. Then BLOWN<--------------My mind was.

  • You did a really good job on that!!! The end was perfect and it sounds complicated.

  • Is this to a drumless track? And if so, where can I find it?

  • @0wn4g3str3

Nah I just mixed the drums on top of the existing ones. None of my videos except "Rite of Passage" are drumless, unfortunately!

  • great done! how long have u been playing?

  • It sounds like you snares not on... too empty and hollow. But you match the original perfectly! :)

  • NICE! 2:37

  • your beautiful shoes!

  • Holy crap those drums are HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • once again another great skillet cover =D

  • I hear something at 1:08.

  • How much does that many cymbals cost? Gee...

  • Can you please cover "Falling Inside The Black" ? (If you can, ) it is a tough one. One youtube cover the guy overplays, adlibs way too much but he is good. The other. OMGosh! I think he is either deaf or just learned how to play his snare and hihat together because he is not even playing the song. Thanks

  • dude you have like a thousand toms and cymbals. USE THEM! :)

  • Hey nice drumming man what type of cymbals r u using besides sabian

  • @TS23racer

I'm a Zildjian fanboy - all my crashes are Zildjian A's or A Customs, the hats are Zildjian A, and the ride would be an A Custom ping ride if I had $300 lying around taking up space. For chinas, though, I really like Wuhan - super cheap, and I think they sound amazing.

    Thanks for the kind words!

  • @TS23racer hes useing Zildjian cymbals

  • awesome song! awesome DRUMMER!

  • Dude, you're a really tight player, but unfortunately your mic set doesn't pick up all the lows that can really show it. I'd definitely think about upgrading your mic package. :) Have fun man!

  • @chronicmango

How about upgrading the way I record them? I didn't know much about what I was doing back then - check out my "Evanescence - Going Under" video for what the exact same mics sound like now.

  • @SnareSpectre

    Definitely a lot better! :)

  • 6 china cymbals is slightly unnessesary ;)

  • enough Toms!!! O_O lol wow use em! good job

  • Man.. so many negative comments...

    You did a good job.

    Skillet's good.

  • this doesnt even seem hard

  • Was it supposed to?

  • @SnareSpectre I agree with you! it doesnt need to be hard to sound good!

  • looooooooooooooooooooooossssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i could do way better than that

  • One thing, I saw that you missed the snare drum blows at minute 2:37 but I was perfect in comparison with me :)

  • 1000000 cymbals :p

  • Is double bass completely necessary?

  • Considering I played the double bass part that was in the original song, I'd say so.

  • ewwww zyljian??

  • epic stick twirl :D and a very nice cover

  • i like the off beat hihats! but dude....if you've got 120000 toms. USE THEM!! O_O

  • Haha - the toms are there for stuff like Dream Theater :)

  • @MayerEO lol 120000

  • Pretty decent, but I would use a little less tom (that is what it's called, right? Sorry, but I'm a piano player, not drummer). Also, turn up the music!!!

Nice job at the end of the solo. It sounded better than the original!

  • few things.... #1 thats one FUCKING SEXY SET, and #2 is this a difficult song to learn?

  • editing alone is worth some praise :) great views/angles:)

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! K-I-N-G!

  • only thing i dislike in this video is snare sound. Good job anyway :-)

  • lmao I love his face at the beginning, he looks like Mr. Flinstone.

  • ok how many of the same cybals do you have lol

  • it's almost identical to the recorded version!!! very nice!

  • dude that drum stick flip was awesome! perfect timing too!

  • good but boring

  • this is just constructive criticism but put more umgh in it

  • If you look at the "Awake and Alive" cover, I put more "umph" into it, but at times I think I look stupid when I do it :) Therefore in my covers I focus on playing what I want to play, and getting a good sound of it, rather than what I look like - I'd rather look dumb and not be thinking about it, rather than focus on how I look, end up looking dumb anyway, and take the concentration off the playing!

  • Damn it....that drumstick toss was amazing!!! xD

  • i want to have sex with your drumset

  • you coulda added your own touch but it guess the bass was impressive

  • I usually try to stay true to the original version to an extent (I don't try to change so much that the drum part is unrecognizeable).

However, I liked what I came up with for the part starting at 2:23 with the china on the off-beat - it's not in the original song at all, but i thought it fit really well.

  • Youre playing is amazing (best ive seen on this song) and your set is awesome .......but dude the socks :/

  • sweet man! i like how you use different views and make the song your own :)

  • wow nice drum set. !!

  • Haha thanks - I got really lucky that I caught it!

  • i really like the video so dont get me wrong and i like how you didnt over fill or anything but the highhat in the beginning is a bit diffrent in the original and there is usually in the fill in the chorus going from hihat to the crash... but who gives its your cover, good job! ignore those morons who just randomly bash you with no backing to there statements

  • oh and nice stick flip :P

  • really people stop being gay sure maybe he's not the best drummer in the world but he's pretty damn good maybe your the ones who have so little skill your in denial about how good he is

  • Haha, thank you - most of the time when people comment on this video, they say great things. It's almost like one guy had a bad day and decided to make 3 separate accounts and bash this video from all of them.

I've been scratching my head the last few days wondering why people suddenly hate this particular cover, lol!

  • @SnareSpectre just an option, but it would be cool to see ur drumset but smaller, like with a rock set up. try it because it really helps when you have a bigger one.

  • boring

  • and having alot of cymbals doesnt make you better

  • makes more better sound, am i right?

  • What do you mean, exactly? I'm not sure I understand.

  • more cymbals = more bang :)

  • I agree. I love having a big selection of cymbals, especially crashes!

  • that is one tight snare....

  • dude u play this song with no skill at all. to see skill check out k funk whispers in the dark

  • I like the guy's cover that you're referring to - but if I were him, I'd make sure I didn't have people like you promoting me around the internet.

  • y not

  • Because you came on here and blasted my video for absolutely no reason - if you went on someone else's video and said, "Dude, you're terrible, go listen to JD's video," it would reflect badly on me, and I wouldn't like that.

  • very good

  • EEEEEEPPPPPPIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCC FINISH awesome pedal

  • Awesome cover and nice set

  • cool!!

  • dude how much did you set cost?

  • Lol, I get that question a lot, as if I'm rich or something!

All added together, probably about $2,500 went into this set over a period of 8 years...so while I have a lot of stuff on it, it's really pretty inexpensive for how big it is. I just wait for good deals to pop up on the stuff that I want :)

  • ummmmm its ok

  • amazing drummer!!! those are some sick drums too!

  • dude u should do their new song monster!!!!

  • It'll be a while before I do Skillet again - the last video I've posted was actually "Awake and Alive," and I've done two other Skillet covers on top of these. I'm kinda Skillet-ed out, lol!

When I get back around to doing another one I'll keep that one in mind, though - it rocks!

  • could you tell me the brand of the heads and what kind are dese that you are using because they sound awesome and i want to buy some for my drum set..

  • Alright - Remo Emperors on the Toms (not sure what's on the resonant side), Remo Emperor X reverse dot on the Snare, and Evans EMAD on the bass drum. They can sound a lot better than this - check out some of my later videos, like Skillet's "Awake and Alive." Not that these sound terrible, but this was back when I didn't know as much about recording as I do now.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Good job. I really like your kit too. Keep it up!

  • i love your set-up..kit..whatever u wanna call it...ur a really good drummer

  • those r roto tongs right u can spine them right!!

  • AWESOME!

  • Holy moly your feet look just like Mike Portnoy's when hes demonstrating any liquid tension song. look up Mike Portnoy acid rain youll know what im talking about.

  • i like the angle at 1:05, but ur snare sounds a bit off

  • Skillet's?!?! What are you smoking??!?

  • dude you have to see her play live she's

easily one of the most entertaining drummers ive ever seen

not to mention she's a beast

  • Which one are we referring to here, Lori Peters or Jen Ledger?

  • well ive only seen videos of lori but ive seen jen live and she rips it up

youre freaking awesome btw this helped me a ton with learning this song so keep up the great work :)

  • great job, really great!

  • Awesome stick flip at 2:38.. that is so sick man

  • great, ur cymbals are great, but drums are terrible except the bass drum, but none the less good cover

  • See how close my tom mics and snare mic are to the heads? Word of advice - don't put them that close on acoustic drums, or they sound like mine did in this video, lol!

I've gotten them sounding infinitely better now than they did in this recording, but I haven't put anything up on YouTube yet with the new mic'ing; watching this video shows how much of a mic noob I was just 3 1/2 months ago.

    Thank you for your comment!

  • BRO THAT WAS TIGHT AT 2:38 NICE!!!!! i can play same as u on drums just cant flip like that DUDE

PUT A VID UP ON HOW TO DO THAT NICE JOB MAN!!!

  • Dude, you really need some Jordans!! Drop the Sketchers

  • and the crew sox

  • he needs dc's or some fallens or jordans and get a monster energey drink shirt with some plad lon shorts ps lime green jordans would look cool with black

  • LONG and black monster energy drink shirt

  • FINALLY!! A Drummer on youtube who can play this song!! lol AWESOME DRUM COVER BROH!

  • I like your Staples shirt.

  • Sounds pro. Nice roto toms.

  • Hey man its wispers in the dark not trying to be smart just saying :) great cover btw!

  • Thanks! I actually went back and forth about what to call it - I bought the CD and put it onto my iTunes, and the song recognition software deemed it "Whispers." But other places call it "Whispers in the Dark." So, since I didn't have the actual CD with me at the time I put the video together, I went with the name on my iTunes...even Wikipedia says it's often shortened to "Whispers." Oh well, at least the name is recognizable :)

  • Np :P
