Of course that all depends on how much you drink. lol. But seriously $1000 spending money would be good. This does not include the costs of any day tours. You would spend this money on drinks, meals at the onboard steakhouse, cafes, etc, and souvenier buying at the 3 ports that you visit.
I am not likely to go on a cruise again, as I found out I get very seasick. The good news is that the tablets that they had on board fixed me up so I could eat again. lol.
if your on the pacific sun and want to book a room TAKE NOTE dont get the rooms rear of ship stay in middle or front because there is a bad smell that lingers at the rear of the ship smells like sewage
we had room U176 and it stunk!
also bring bottled water ! the water is treated and is also horrible to drink believe me on this one other than that it is a great ship with wonderful staff
ship smells at rear not everyday but every second day or so .....
I hadn't heard or experienced the bad smell problem. But I can totally agree about the recycled water, it is not something you want to be drinking. yuk. We bought bottled water at$3 a bottle on the ship, so it would have been cheaper to bring it onboard if we had of known..
On a 7 day cruise there are 2 "formal" nights. I didnt worry about packing any formal wear, as I am not into that unless I am getting married. So instead of going to the formal dinner, I went to one of the other restaurants. There iwas also a tropical dress up night. On the cruise I went on there were lots of kids, because it was school holidays. There was about 35 of the 12-16 agegroup that I could count.
Recent release movies are shown on a big screen and a selection are available on your in-cabin television. The TV movie channel has a selection of latest release movies for all age groups, and these are renewed each day. The movies are repeated at different times, like cable tv. I didnt get to see the movie on the big screen.
I hope Twilight is on for you, but you should go and see it before you go just in case. The weather is always a hard one to tell. When we went there were strong gale force winds a couple of days before the day of departure, lashing the SE coast. but it turned out not to bad for the trip. It only rained a couple of days on my trip, one during a port stop in Port Villa. Even if it rains you will have a great time inside the ship. (dont call it a "boat").lol.
Take bottled drinking water, plenty of it. The water from the taps is made from seawater and tastes yuk, which means you have to buy bottled water. If you get sea sick, they sell antiseasickness tablets on board that work real well. Take plenty of photos/video if you plan to do your own You Tube video. I prebooked the onshore tours before the cruise, it saves you missing out as some are more popular than others.
Pack a disposable raincoat, and you will be the envy of everyone else if it is raining when to arrive at any of the ports. I took my MP3 player and recorded the dinner announcements from the PA system, great for nostalgia. If you want to save a few bucks bring your own lanyard to wear your P&O card around your neck, unless you want the P&P one as a souvenier.
Hi Laptopsarebest, I am not sure on internet pricing. I booked via a travel agent after seeing a special in one of their brochures. You can save a lot of money by booking well in advance.
nice video, though the pool on pacific sun looks like rubbish! we went on the pacific dawn, looks like we made the right choice. not having a go at your video! just saying that the 'Sun' looks like its showing it age..
Your probably very right .. the Pacific Sun is probably showing her age, but for my first cruise, I still had fun. I would say the Dawn is much better fitted out. If you wanted to see an even better cruise ship, visit by "favourite video" section and look for "Princess Cruises" x 2 videos (especially the 02.39 minute video).
I probably wouldnt go on another cruise again. Dont get me wrong I loved it (apart from the sea sickness), but now I have done it, it wouldnt have the same novelty value.
I hope you enjoy your cruise. One suggestion is to take bottled drinking water on board, it will be cheaper than buying it. Send me an email if you want to get in contact with me about what things to expect.
yea mate me and another friend from work both thinking about booking this cruis and i was wandering 1) if you would no wat the partying is like and the casino and 2) if you no the refund policy because im in defence force and im tranfering and got time off but i might get called back early so if you no them answers that would be great thank you
Plenty of bars to choose from, and to suit all tastes. Great entertainment. The night club warms up after midnight, and maybe because there was a lot of families on board, it was quieter than usual. The casino seemed well run and friendly, although we didnt go much. Lots of theme parties, such as western night and island night. I am not sure about the refund policy, couldnt find the info booklet, but I should imagine it depends on how close you are to setting sail.
If you thought our cruise was nice, check out the youtube videos x2 in my favourites section entitled "Princess cruises".. which seems miles better than the Pacific Sun.
hey me again how much do u think i should save up for my crusie?
