  • i live in cody wyoming i get to see wild horses almost every day and they have been cutting down our herds up here and they do not hurt the farm land they just want the land were the horses are for oil wells.

  • i think they are full of shit. there are people making lots of money on wild horses. this show is a cover up hoax.

  • this is kind of ironic since horses arent native to north america, the spanish brought them when they got here

  • Clearly... Whether it's horses, wolves, elk, etc... The greatest predator to them all is us.

  • god did not put these animals on this earth for us to eat.....thats just horrible..........its very disturbing :(

  • The Mustangs' ancestors carried our ancestors into war so we could be free. The least we could do is return the favor.

  • December 19, 2009

The gray wolf population in Yellowstone National Park is declining, officials say.

Wolves are killing each other at a higher frequency to compete for elk, their primary food source, which is less abundant now, says Doug Smith, leader of the Yellowstone Wolf Project.

"The good times are over," Smith says.

  • I am doing nothing of the kind, if you want to wait until it is happening in ernest it will be to late. As I understand it Horses are protected but are you sure ? The Elk have been destroyed in Yellowstone. I will send you the latest on that , it will be on your channel or in message.

  • I live in Central Wyoming on the edge of the Red Desert. It was stated when the Wolves were put in Yellowstone that they would be in Jeffery City in 2 yrs. That was eleven years ago, at the time we figured that the Govt was pushing the Wolf down our throats because that would solve the "Wild Horse " problem for them. The Wolves are on South Pass right now and have been on the Desert. Elk are all but gone in Yellowstone . You tell me ?

  • Ok. I see what you're saying. But there's no proof that wolves are contributing to the decline. Unless you can give me a link. Right now - not meaning to be rude - you've giving me the impression that you're automatically assuming wolves are bringing down the population.

  • Yes, don't waste your time. Freecoyote is a wolf hater. He blames everything on the wolves. Your typical wolf hating redneck hunter. LOL

  • What do you think the Wolves are doing to the Wild Horses ?

  • The wolves aren't doing anything to the wild horses. Where are you getting your information? Or are you just assuming the wolves are preying on them?

  • TheFreecoyote, the video just told you that the wild horse population is declining rapidly due to poor management by B.L.M, sending American horses to slaughter, and giving the most good looking/healty ones over to adoption and releasing the old - and those past breeding age - back out into the wild where they can't even begin to repopulate. Oil, gas, and mining activity are more reasons behind it. They said it in the video.

  • Wolves weren't even mentioned or shown in this video. So where on earth did you get the impression that wolves are contributing to the decline of the wild horse population? Goodness, TheFreecoyote. I've seen several of your comments. You seem to have such a heart felt, deep rooted hatred of wolves it's...shocking. You are blaming them for a problem they're not even causing. Do you blame the wolves for all wildlife problems?

  • how they take them its stupid, and how they said they release the older horse that is SOOO stupid!

  • who ever slaughters a horse is a class A jerk hole

  • Sitting here, and saying we MUST STOP this isnt helping, get out there, and do something!

  • This is so sad! We should all protect the wild mustangs!

  • If we want to stop this than we have to act. Write letters call people and tell people they are wrong!! We can't let the government kill anything else. Save these horses, stop horse slaughter

  • OMG i had to stop in the middle of this movie it is so sad i cryed my eyes out!

  • It is not the governments fault! It is the voters fault. It is common knowledge that the government lies but the voters keep re-electing and re-hiring them over and over, as if Republicans and Democrats are any different! We need to have a tripartisan system, like the Constitution Party, to break the tie.

  • no matter who you vote and elect there all goin 2 do the same thing. and that is try 2 get as much money and power as they can no matter what. they dont care about anyone only themselfs..

  • Are there people them the nature and in it to living animals respecting generally still???? It breaks to me the heart and my soul.

One should help and not kill.

Money can be given on every dung.

Why then not also for the wonderful creatures of the nature????

  • I understand numbers need to be controlled, but i will never understand why the horses are made to suffer in such extreme ways as a result of some idiots idea of a quick fix. What a sad world we live in :(

  • Its SOOOOOO sad when people KILL them! I started to cry when lil clips of them killing the horses. We NEED to stop this!

  • I totaly agree with you people are so greedy these days and they could care less about the poor horses and take there land and it sucks that people got in to a pount to people that they are doing it and horses are are frineds that they should be should be treeted with care becuse they have been with us for hunerds of thouneds of years and they should be treated with respct.

  • kool!

  • it's rly sad that we've come to this point....what else will we destroy....such a amazing animals...and they are being sold....as food...to humans....

  • I give that ex BLM worker so much credit for whistle blowing and speaking his own mind on a national video.

  • What a big, fat, horrifying mess created by greedy, ignorant people.

  • uhhhhh....you all realize that there is technically no such thing as an american wild horse...they were all brought here on boats.

If anything we are removing an invasive and unnatrual animal. Bwahaha

  • YOU realize that the horse species originated in North America some 50,000- 100,000 years ago and was eventually hunted to extinction so when the spaniards brought the horse they were simply returning the hores to their natural habitat.

  • Do you realize that you are an idiot?, no better yet, an absolute moron, and that North America was the original home of the horse species. I suppose you're not American if your ancestors came here on boats either. Yeah, you're a moron.

  • you were brought in on a boat too,and its evident that you are unnatural and invasive so I say we get rid of you instead. at least horses are beautiful

  • To save them (AWH), the number of WHs should be in control, that means slaughter. We should look at the issue from more than one view point. We have been supporting our gov open wars in other countries, haven't we?

  • there is another option. instead of slaughtering horses we should 1) let them run wild on more of our public land or 2) buy land and move horses onto it. WhenI was driving through South Dakota last summer I saw ranch after ranch for sale. that land could be bought and horses moved there.

  • A probable good tactic may be to boycott all beef. Feedlot and range beef. Let the beef industry figure out that it can end up being gone if it doesn't change it's attitude. And worldwide, those who respect the horse boycott stores that sellhorsemeat and tell people why. Put these people out of business. It's all that they care about.

  • Thank you for this share, ancestralblue.

We seem to have lost control of "our" country. Whoever is the powerz that be, it ain't us anymore.

But if we use our powers of numbers to call, fax, email, write letters, it WILL make a difference. We need only recognize and unite against the corrupt political system which has hijacked America.

  • ancestralblue:

Either boycott or drastically reduce consumption. Feedlot beef is not even healthy for humans given all the unnatural injections the stock animals are given and all the stress hormones in the meat.

But, American's stop eating beef(unlikely) exports to other countries will just be increased by the USA for a profit. If international demand increases, the cattle production will not be affected.

  • In my own particular case, I haven't eaten beef in many years. While I know that many people still love eating beef, one thing is for certain, all of these videos on YT detailing the slaughter of animals for consumption is having an effect. It won't be long before a rather large part of the population deplores it. It's not that I think that animal proteins aren't beneficial. It's about HOW these corporate meat merchants carry it all out. As for the horses?

    next

  • Here's a critter that has been man's partner for thousands of years. Carried our species over hill and dale, through wars and every form of human endeavor and yet he can be among the most mistreated of critters. But when it comes to pursuit of profit, the whole right and wrong thing gets thrown right out the window. Like racehorses. Instead of respecting the horse that runs his eyeballs out, they run him till he breaks down to pick up checks. There's no respect. It's all about money.

  • Morgan, quit spouting PETA rhetoric about feedlot beef and actually spend some time at the feedlots and the farms and ranches where the beef is raised. You'll learn something AND you'll learn that the only bad beef is the ones ground up for protein pills for vegetarians. LOL

  • thajeeper:

I ask a person who comes to this video, who already has a predetermined opinion on Mustangs rights, WHY DO YOU COME TO THESE VIDEOS? Stop disrespecting the people commenting on th video who are passionate about the Mustang & Burro cause! I don't hunt down your favorite videos to nag at you! I have neither the time nor inclination to disrupt your day.

I am not associated with PETA. Don't like the group. I have been to feedlots. Don't like the groups who run those either.

  • The bill mentioned in this documentary failed.

New ROAM Act has passed the House - goes to the Senate this September.

Timing? BLM is conducting a "freinzied" rampage to remove as many horses as they can before congress meets. Sept 1, 2009, Cloud's herd is scheduled for reduction - Cloud & Cloud's mother are on the slate -

ACT- e-mail, phone, children e-mail & phone - STOP PRYOR ROUNDUP/GATHER -SAVE CLOUD AND CLOUDS FAMILY!

Stop all roundups/gathers - they are all Clouds to me!

  • Thank you for posting this video and spreading the word about these terrible acts that are being committed on this nations soil.

  • Natural selection will create the best and strongest , not man messing with everything.. These animals helped make our country ..Man screws up everything,by thinking they know best!

  • yep, Hunters say the same thing, that it's up to us to control the population. Nature will control them the best.

  • i hate the blm and slotter houses did you see how they slottered the horses someday i am going to do something about it and nobody is stopping me

  • Just remember, people are what people do. I don't like people that much, they tick me off most of the time. They are just a mess in general. But I went to a mustang makover event where people had spent thousands of dollars to train a mustang so someone could give it a good home. That made me a new man, everyone should feel that.

  • they need to do something but I highly doubt goverment cares

  • why are they doing this horses are majestic domestic or wild we should protect them

  • Horses are an American icon, it doesn't matter when or how they came to this land...it is theirs. I adore the wild horses & would give anything to help them survive. They have been unfairly treated over the years & it saddens me to know they are vanishing. Horses are my passion & I respect them. STOP THEIR DISTRUCTION! 4 the love of horses...

  • A federal judge recently blocked the BLM from removing the West Douglas herd. Hopefully, the decision will be upheld if appealed.

  • Horses are like tumbleweeds, everyone assumes it's part of the history, but both were introduced by foreigners. From Wikipedia, "It seems to have been imported into South Dakota from Russia in 1870 or 1874 in shipments of flaxseed."

Don't believe the western movies and John Wayne flicks. Both are foreign inhabitants on the native landscape.

  • ...just like the original clovis people wiped out all the other large mammals they could. Humans have a particularly effective record of overpopulation combined with wiping out every major species they can, before completely screwing things up. Just like a bacteria on a food source. Go like nuts til you use it up and then die off. Trash the resources, trash the land, anything for a buck. And people say they love their country... they love only money.

  • Humans need to leave the wild horses in nature where God put them. when men start rearranging things .... everything goes out of balance and harmony & get skrewed up. why? because he doesn't know what he is doing, neither does he have understanding.

there was 60 million buffalo here before stupid men showed up, & millions of horses.

i say lets take these stupid & brutal men and make meat out of them.

the horses are God's creatures. who ever destroys them, they will not inherit the earth.

  • Read the Phantom Stallion eries. It talks a bunch about the BLM

  • I hve the Phantom Stallion series

  • I do not believe in BLM. I think that the horses should stay on the range. And yes they are useful to other species during hard seasons. A wild horse is a symbol of American History, of our cultur, past. By destroying the horses we are not only making them go away for good, but we are perminetly destroying our history and cultur. Horses are not exotic animals for they have been on this earth a lot longer than man has! All BLM is doing is labling the horses basically as ''Eat me''.

  • Comment removed

  • I believe that the BLM just needs to leave the horses alone, and let them live naturally on the range instead of having more horses slaughtered. If they just did the amount of horse slaughter would most definatly decrease and we would have more wild horses. I am not a supporter of the BLM for I have seen what they have done to wild horses. I live 30 minutes away from one. If they only brouht in the horses that were injured or sick, we would have more wild horses, and the amount would increase.

  • Comment removed

  • These so called land management organisations should be ashamed of themselves. If you want to put it into context white man is an exotic species to america also how would you like to be rounded up in a traumatic fashion and have someone put a bolt gun to your head and pull the trigger, nieve ignorant idiots

  • Comment removed

  • polksalad - "emotion bases statements?" Your own comment is a form of manipulation. PLace the focus oh the "emotions" of those bringing up the topic as a way to divet from the cruelty of those targeted. "Emotions" are what spawn empathy, compassion and mercy. Most who use "emotions" as an excuse to discredit the point tend to be sociopathic, with very little or no ability for compassion, mercy and empathy. It's a very clever manipulative tactic to take the focuc of something negative being done.

  • Comment removed

  • now there are planet somewhere . they know as kentauroids part human part horse like body.i dont know what they look like .

  • I cant even watch this;actors and emotion based statements. They never say what the impact of the wild horses are on the native animal species.I love horses but they need to be managed.Symbol of america?

  • What will Obama do about this?

  • same thing as Stephen Harpor NOTHING ROT IN HELL HARPOR

  • Correction: horsemeat in Europe is NOT a delicasy.

It is normal eaten meat, just like a cow.

    I don't eat it.

  • Correction, it goes for 20 to 40 dollars a pound...the rich people eat it.

  • People acually eat horsemeat?!?!?!? I never knew that!!!

  • Why cant people just leave them be? If they're taring up farmland then build better fences. They're the only real wild freedom that's left in America. Where would man have been without the horse? I glad there are people like Viggo Mortsen and Sheryl Crow use their advantage in society to help save these beautiful creatures. We need more people like them in the world. If only more people had heart.

  • Hardly. I think Elk, Pronghorn, Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Lions, Bobcats and other native wild life are the remaining wild freedom in America. Wild horses are detrimental to their existence and therefore should be managed.

  • That is your opinion, but I have to question how is a horse detrimental to the existence of Mountain Lions and Bobcats?

  • "Horses have proven useful to other species: in winter months, they have the instinct to break through even deep crusted snow where the grass cannot be seen. They also open up frozen springs and ponds with their powerful hooves, making it possible for smaller animals to drink. During the historic blizzard of 1886, hundreds of thousands of cattle were lost on the Plains. Those that survived followed herds of mustangs and grazed in the areas they opened up.

  • Another positive effect of wild horses on biodiversity was documented in the case of the Coyote Canyon horses in the Anza Borrega National Park (California). After wild horses were all removed from the Park to increase big horn sheep population, bighorn sheep mortality actuality skyrocketed: mountain lions, wild horse predators, compensated the loss of one of their prey species by increasing their predation on other species."

  • They dont need to catch the miustangs for adoption, people can breed the horses already in captivided and leave the mustangs alone!

  • They only put them up for adoption so the government doesn't have to keep paying to feed them. And they are usually much cheaper than breeding.

  • Whoa... talk about weird... just read a book about the same problem as in the movie. Book's name is Spirit Horses.. for all those who want to know.... it's criminal what they to these animals, they are part of our national heritage.

  • I could only watch the first 10 minutes of this...it upset me so much....man hates anything that is truly free so he has to take that freedom away, makes him feel important, powerful...wait until they see what the saints will be riding when we come back with our Lord Jesus Christ!!

  • Here's some science:

Google "Management-implications-of-the-ecology-of-free-roaming-horses" and click on the PDF

    A few quotes:

"equids were absent from North America for at least 10,000 years, domestic horses were brought to the southwestern United States by Spaniards near the end of the 16th century"

"fewer plant species may remain ungrazed in areas occupied by free-roaming horses compared to areas grazed by other ungulates"

    And more...

  • brouuk what do you do? cattle, mining, or

    gas&oil just wandering .

unless you are native american you are not native to this country so how about we round up you, your family & your friends march you all to a kill zone butcher you all and sell your meat to some canabals in some other country along with any others with your views i bet we could solve are countrys money woes and in the process make are country a better place. you are lower than whale shit1111

  • ...God didnt take animals into the world just so that we could take them out again.(Im not american but each of us is a human)...If we had a worldwide vote I think that these graceful creatures...The animals that brought us to today would be safe again...

  • wow, isnt it sad that a wild animal and one such as a wild horse, so very majestic takes a back seat on our quest for energy. there has to be a more sustainable way. why cant we figure one out together as people who solve problems rather than people who make problems.

  • people are so heartless. we are muderers killers of the spirts of the wild west. ive seen the wild horses run freely more then once and it takes my breath away the beauty and grace. it makes me heart broken to see what ppl are doing to that beautey. god didnt make this beauty for us to distroy he made it so we can remember what life is all about. life is about the freedom we have and the beauty we bring to it but lately i havent seen that beauty:(( we must stop this once in for all

  • I have strong and am passionate about how I feel as well. Dont kill the messanger. Would you have known, without them, what was going on...thanks to the filmmakers for their investment of time, money etc. to educate us....

  • here has to be a limit. Im tired of seeing how cruel we can be. These wild animals live in a country that does not need to slaughter them. Trrash media fashion and crap and leave them alone.

  • very sad.

  • human beings are nothing but an inferior breed of brainless creatures...we have wild beauties and you kill them...Is you national symbol god damn it!!! your national symbol and you kill it...don`t you think is more important a wild horse who runs over a hill than a factory or anything else? Horse is God`s creation. by your acts, you give a shit on God....Shame on you americans....you are nothing but a bunch of retards who ignore and destroy wild and pure beauties...Shame!!!shame!!!

  • this is so horrible. we should just leave the horses alone and let them live their lifes. if it wasnt for horses civiliztion would not be the same to day. what nations were the first to move foward? the ones with horses. but now that we have cars and machines its like people find them a nuisance. one hundred and fifty years ago if you had several horses. it showed how rich you were.

  • brouuks...horses are getting butchered alive pea brain. it is a known fact the captive bolt don't work on equines...horse slaughter is a sleazy money making business. The wild horse situation is a disgrace in this country and they have big plans for them too. all about money. I am a horse owner and I am an American.

Americans don't eat horse meat like you they eat BBQ ribs and draw pictures with them. and big mouth hillbilly you are an ass hole.

  • brouuks obviously advocates the blm and good for him beacuse old fashioned greed is what is destroying the united states of america

  • Horses are not indigenous, they might have been here millions of years ago, but since then the environment has drastically changed. The Sierras rose up and drastically changed the flora, fauna and wildlife of the area.

Inhumane slaughtering. All animal slaughtering is inhumane, I don't want to take out my parents like that, but horse slaughtering has the same standards as any other livestock slaughtering. And just because americans don't eat horse meat, doesn't mean we can't sell it to others.

  • Wildhorses have no natural predators. There is nothing to control their numbers except famine and starvation. They destroy water sources because there is nothing running them off. The wild horses have no reason to be out there, and are left over from the days when ranchers sold them to the Calvary. With the recession, more are appearing on the range. If they are not managed they will continue to destroy the land. Most wild horse advocates do not have to live with their consequences.

  • Oh my goodness this is terrible! I had no idea that this was happening! These poor amazing animals!

  • 3068 days left Until the last Free Roaming Horse is standing!

  • I have estimated by careful calculation and past experience..If the BLM continues to gather horses at the rate that have been..The last wild horse will roam free September 11 2017. The date is no coincidence!

  • more spouting of conspiracy theory nonsence from jerseyfool. his "studies" have led him nowhere he is blinded by romanticism. he has no real care for these animals or the land they roam on. ver sad and sicking that he likes the fact these domestic animals bred by man and that need our help to live proper lives are running around tearing up the land w/o our help. sad sad indeed

jerseyhorsekiller&naturehater ur a cruel son of a bitch!

  • Can we save the wild horse with just hand full of advocates? Will the people with money step up and not be so damned so exclusive to the cause. Its like trying to pull teeth from a horse to get them to come forward if a protest isnt on their agenda. The celebrities that donate their time to this charge their time to charity work. Agenda! Where the hell is Willie Nelson and Vigo Mortensen now?!Try and get them to show up for a protest at a gather. I challenege anyone to.

  • STOP THE ROUND UPS!

  • After 35 years of following the wild horse saga I have to say that there is no one more educated on this speciel cleansing. You are witnessing the eradication..No! The annihilation of a species right before your eyes. The BLM knows it,the US Forest Service knows it,and the US Fish Game and Wildlife know it.If you want to stop seeing videos like this then, THE ROUNDUPS HAVE TO STOP! The BLM makes alot of money off a resource that is free to them. Once 175,234 strong as of June 13,1971.Now! 19,000.

  • Thank you Jersey Renegade, wild horses have to stay wild...not rounding them up and adopting them out...that's what is destroying the herds. Right now there are more penned up than free and it needs to be stopped. The wild horse did fine without the humans...Free the horses. Give them back their land. plain and simple free them and leave them the hell alone.

  • yeah for sure! So what they were locked and loaded.Intimidation tactics only scare the weak at heart. If you and I approach them unarmed they cannot shoot shit.I challenge the BLM and ALL officials to stop me from protesting their gathers.I dare them to infringe on my constitutional right to assemble. I dare them to arrest me and find solid ground to prosecute.I would sue their asses so fast and hard that their great great grand children would be broke.I am sick of the BLM's bullshit!

  • I cant watch the entire video!I have seen this time and time again.Vigo Mortensen,Lacy Dalton from Let em Run,Neda Demayo of Return to Freedom,Patience O'dowd from WHOA and the Placita wild horses. Shall I go on?Althought they are all doing a good deed,it is the SAME deed. The BLM does not give a shit about advocates saving the captured horses. They in fact want you to go get a few. They are begging you too go adopt as many as you can.The message in this video does nothing but compound the problem.

  • Look! Cheryl Crow can do all the gentling that she wants. The problem remains with..STOPPING THE GATHERS! Dont dispute with me that wildhorses need to be rounded up to save them from starvation or dying of thirst.Nor are the roundups needed to save their ecosystem from being over grazed. The information in this video is OLD and Redunant! Can we please get someone out there and stand up to the BLM! This bleeding heart shit is only making matter worse. The message is skewed!!

  • i dont know i enyone else thinks this but buy saving some of them they arent saving the WILD horses they are domesticating them if they save them they should relese them back into the wild even thoe there is the risk of them being caught again! as then atleasd they would be wild and free! they proububly would be happy domesticated too but then there still not wild horses!

  • There is no reason whatsoever for wild horses to be managed as they have been. The BLM lies about their numbers and their ecologists swares to it.You are correct that they would be at risk of being captured again if they were released. The point is,they do not need to be gathered. It was all a LIE put on by the BLM and their supporters. The cattle ranchers!

  • The problem comes because people don't think of the horses as being native, they think of them as out-siders, feral escapees who don't belong there. In fact the Indians had ponies long before the Spanish arrived in the South. The Indian ponies, small and coloured and similar to Icelandic horses, were nothing like spanish horses and probably the Indians brought them from Asia with them when they crossed the Bering straits. Compare Indian horse culture to Asian horse culture.

  • You are well educated on this topic.I wish I had you by my side when I was fighting with Congress 4 years ago.

  • just like what happened to the AMERICAN INDIAN.

  • Yup, and they still tell you, even in this video, that the American horse is spanish , when in fact the Indians had horses BEFORE the spanish got there. No spaniard would ride a pinto pony !

  • You are the only one that has aknowledged the truth.! I have been investigating and researching ancient Native American caves and dwellings of their culture pre 14th century. The horses in their paintings are proof that horses were here long before the Spanish Colonial horse.

  • You know what is most distressing ? When archeologists find the skeleton of a horse they don't bother testing it to see how old it is or study it to find out what type it is because they already assume it to be post columbian, an old farm horse maybe . I shudder to think how many ancient horse bones have been just thrown away.

  • You sound alot like me and how I have felt about that for the last 3 decades.I have written to so called archeologists and paleontologists to find out what their opinions were about old horse bones that they may have found. They claim whenever they are on a dig and find old horse bones they just bag and tag them and send for future analysis. One had told me that equus bones never get analyzed because of the insignificance to their work.

  • this is really sad

  • hahaha yeah i really did enjoy watcning this.. i can see how it got so many views .. and i agree with the comments below. well most of them anyways.

  • i do believe this played in the natural history museum in new york.

  • I stopped eating beef and cut way down on leather products over 1 year ago. Lets keep our horses and our souls.

  • sorry to inform you but beef isnt horse meat

  • wow. this was a huge eye opener. horses are my passion.. I've had horses ever since i was born, and they have been in my family history for generations. its horrible what they are doing.

  • people eat horses i hunt. but its for food but i never ever heard of ne one eating a horse

  • people eat the horses you hunt? huh? and you say you've never heard of ne one eating a horse.... wait, back it up a bit... you hunt horses for people to eat???? and then... ahhhh i'm lost!

  • i was like half asleap when i typed that lol i sry

  • HAHAHA! yeah i figured... i read what you posted and thought "HUH!?!?!" have a good one!

  • yeah u 2 thanks for not being an ass lol..

    thats rare on youtube

  • no prob! yeah... i run into asses every once in a while here on youtube... i just kill them with kindness!!!

  • dog food? just a guess kinda lost me there too

  • didnt see the ""PEOPLE"" Part when i wrote that other message my bad

  • wait... i think i know where i was off... your punctuation is lacking! my bad! you meant to say "people eat horses? i hunt, but its for food, but i never heard of ne one eating a horse" ok... sorry for the confusion! people do eat horses though, its sad, but people also eat deer, cows, pigs, chickens, fish, buffalo etc etc etc. horses just another farm animal really, just in america not treated as a meat product. well because horses were used as transportation for many years, even still
