  • @MAMIARCE Muchas gracias

  • Thank you sooooo much!!! My hat was a hit!!!!

  • @limabean1986 I am glad it was a hit

  • PLEASE HELP ME! HOW DO YOU GET THE EAR F:AP ON THE OTHER SIDE???

  • @fruitzburst You will skip stitches to leave the back open, attach the yarn with a slip stitch and then work the earflap

  • @tjw1963 Thank you so much! My hat is coming out so amazing!

  • one day, im gonna do this...

  • Thank you for sharing! This is way better than anything you could ever buy in a store! I am going to try then line with fleece for skiing this winter!

  • I followed this pattern and it fits my big ol head but it seems to be HUGE on my parents and brother. XD But either way I think ITS AWESOME! lol(:

  • @TheMariaShoe Glad it turned out well. Maybe you have more hair than your parents and brother?

  • @tjw1963 Yes it's very thick hair. Everywhere I go everyone ask if it's real.

  • Hi Teresa!

I love your videos! I seriously get mesmerized watching them. My question is to you think you could take this and turn it into a mohawk beanie? (meaning adding fringe along the top) Everyone seems to use either single or double crochet but I like the look of the puff stitch. Thoughts?

  • @phoenixphyre66 Yes, this could be used as a mohawk beanie.

  • hey i kinda need help when it gets up to round 6 because i get trailed off on what to do for the next few rounds HELP!

  • Thank u so much! I will see if I can upload a video that shows u the cap I made. Teresa u r absolutely the best. By the way, by any chance can u make another amigurumi tutorial? I just love amigurumi. I've done the monkey, teddy bear, and ladybug. I tried the pig but it turned out pretty bad. Do u know how to make any other animals like owls, cub lions, or maybe even a giraffe? Thanks for everything!

  • Help!!! I need to make a hat with puff stitches like these for my librarian teacher's 4 yr old grandchildren! How do I make it? Please answer because I need to make this before this Thursday!

  • @BamItsMisaki You will need to work more increase rounds and stitches with this pattern or work from the adult version and do less rounds. A 4 year old kids head is not that much smaller than a full grown adult head.

  • Please help ... want to make this for a two year old.....

    TnWonderer1@aol.com

  • I want to make this for a two year old...do you have a pattern.

  • @TnWonderer You will need the size of the 2 year olds head. The size can be reduced by using a smaller crochet hook or working less increase stitches and rounds.

  • why do my hats always turn inside out? they shape the opposite way they should be when im crocheting them. i dont know what im doing wrong or how to fix this...

  • @kristenjohnson44 The direction they turn while you are making them does not matter. Just turn them the correct way when you are finished.

  • Thats nice. Can I make a scarf with this stitch?

  • i cant do a puff stitch! ;(

  • @LPSlover132 I sent you another video on how to make a puff stitch.

  • @tjw1963 ok thanx :)

  • Thanks for teaching me how to do a puff stitch! I was wondering if you could do a video tutorial for a pattern I found? I have the hardest time reading crochet patterns! It's for a child's dragon hat...I can send you the link to the pattern if you want! Thanks and have a lovely day!

  • I'm sorry hat

  • I made it by myself and the cap is really cool at the end,,

    thnx!!!!

  • Hey Teresa, I love your videos and I wanted to know if in the title, or in the description you could tell if it was begginer, expert, etc thank you so much!!

  • @tswiftluv13 I do that with the written instructions.

  • I changed up the hat by first using three colors and your great video "Stripe Crochet Beanie Cap Hat", to show how to change colors. Then instead of your tie, I took the three yarn colors, stretched it from wrist to wrist one full piece three times. Because the yarn is not cut I could loop it around the middle PS on the last row of earflap and pull thru. then I cut the end strands so I had three strings of each, I braided them 1 ft long and then pulled the braid thru the single stitch. BEAUTIFUL

  • @CAPSandNOOSES Sounds like a great cap. Please share a picture of your hat on my Google+, Facebook or do a video response.

  • Thank you so much! You're videos and blogs are amazingly simple to follow and I absolutely love the variety!! This video helped me so much - you're an excellent teacher! :) thanks again!!! :D

  • @TheJodimarie I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • when should i start letting it curl

  • @shukriyah57 Did you do something different? If you have followed the instructions it will curl on its own.

  • I love diz stitch very nic video step by step keep up da good work GOD bless u

  • I'm having a hard time understanding how to begin crocheting this hat. The instructions on how to do the puff stitches and everything else are wonderful, but I'm lost as to what to do after the first four chains! It seems as though you've edited out some of it...

  • @GingieLover There is editing which is normal. Nothing has been edited out. The chain is joined @00:54. It goes right in to working the first stitches through the chain at @00:56. If you are a beginner, this may not be the best project for you.

  • You are a genious !! I love your videos !

  • Hi Teresa.. I followed all your instruction and it has come out well I used 2.5 mm for the cap. I would like to know about Solomon's knot how to do it? How to do a puff stitch dress for a 2 year old baby girl

  • I love your work!! I made this hat and attached one of your large 3D flowers to the left side (half on ear flap half on head) and it is so cute!!! I learned to crochet when I was younger in school and made a few afghans but only knew single and double crochet. Now that I have a daughter, I and returning to crochet and am learning (with you're help) how to make so much more! Thank you soooo much. I am hoping to make mittens and a scarf too with puff stitch to match. Any suggestions/patterns?

  • @hwhitern79 Go to YouTube search and type in Crochet Geek along with mittens, scarf, whatever you are looking for. A lot of the pattern stitches will work up as a scarf. You can determine the starting foundation.

  • @tjw1963 Thanks so much! I found the scarf and will be working on the mittens next. Thanks so much. I love your videos. They have gotten me back into crocheting and are helping me make more than single crochet afghans. :-) My daughter loves her hat and actually keeps it on! I have had so many compliments on it already. :-) <3

  • the string left over from your slip knot do you just crochet it in with your puff stitches?

  • @xXAbDcLoVeRxX You sew in any extra tails that are left over. You do want to make sure they are knotted and secure.

  • How much yarn does this hat take?

  • @CuriousCosmo09 I would estimate 300 meters.

  • the slow motion does not help...just saying....

  • @BethanySnow97 I like it sometimes as I am a very visual learner. But I am 30+++ in age and pretty electronic savvy, yet making "You Tube" tutorials are not the easiest of tasks. :)... Teresa great job as usual! <3

  • This is absolutely wonderful to fully teach me step by step...literally! I enjoyed watching this clip, it was sooooo incredibly helpful and exactly what I was looking for! I just want to make this hat with regular crochet stitches, not puff. I'm making a mohawk hat for my son and this is the BEST tutorial!! Thank you very much for you time and effort in making this video!! Keep it up

  • @cinnaminbrownie I appreciate the comment, thank you!

  • wooow that video is so fantastic! greetings from colombia!! i like so the hello kitty puff stitch hat---- congratulations to @beautifulbutterfly82 you r my hero!!

  • i made it too big :[

  • @imsoawthsome There are two things you can do to make it smaller. Use a smaller crochet hook, which is the easiest way to reduce the size. Or you can work less increase rounds and less stitches

  • i have similar yarn and a G hook, but can't make it to 8 puff stitches..i seem to run out of room. i manage 4 or 5 and then they overlap..i've practiced the puff stitch to where I am confident in it looking right, but maybe my yarn is bigger than I thought? could that be a reason why? I will keep trying :) Thank you for posting your videos! I love crocheting!

  • i crochet so tight to do this :( its frustrating me

  • what happens if you use a size I crochet hook because i dont have a G :/

  • @loveposey28 The cap will turn out larger, so you may need to modify if it starts getting to large

  • @tjw1963 how many yards of yarn would i need to make this hat?

  • @punkprincesszimmy 350-500 yards should be enough.

  • I ended up making this! I think your instructions made it a tad small, so I added a couple stitches, making it about 38 PS around, which made it fit my head perfectly, I also added 5 more rounds, which became a *tad* oversized, but it was my 1st hat :P These were wonderful, comprehensive instructions, and I'm so happy I can finally make something besides a scarf! Thank you so so much for posting this, and posting a link to the blog with the pattern written out helped a lot too.

  • @PamGabriel It will be a little bit smaller if you use the same yarn and hook I used in the video. If you use 4 ply yarn and a larger hook, it will work up larger. I appreciate the comment, thank you!

  • @PamGabriel Same thing for me, it was my first hat and I added a couple of round that maked it a little too big but it almost fit :) the video is good :D

  • @PamGabriel Amen to that "make something besides a scarf" comment! LOL

  • Wow, this is a beautiful hat, but it is way too hard for me! I'll have to start with a simpler hat and return to this one sometime in the future.

  • How would u put a puff ball at the top ??

  • is this your imagination or you are doing along any books? It's excellent!!

  • @KKatulka21 I write up my own patterns.

  • i wanted to ask u where do you buy all of your yarns?i cant find them in stores.

  • @thien99992 you have to go to fabric stores or michaels arts and crafts has a big selection of yarns, needles, and other things needed for knitting and crocheting.

  • @thien99992 Sometimes I buy my supplies from Wal-mart. I know that many Wal-marts may not have a craft section. Another store is AC Moore, Joann Fabric and Crafts or Michaels. You can also find stores online.

  • @thien99992 I purchase most of my yarn from Wal-mart and AC Moore.

  • @kellypinklily I will send it to you

  • I would like to see subtitles for your videos on crotcheting and knitting if thats ok please? The translator ones are stupid, all it does is pick up on words that sound like political stuff and makes it out like a "senator is going to pass a bill" and I am deaf but LOVE to crotchet and knit, am only learning so if thats ok could u add subtitles? I'm sorry if its extra work.... but deaf people like myself and my deaf friends would like to know what is being said... thanks :)

  • i'm on the 14th round and my hat is teeny tiny. should i just keep going with the rounds or should i increase some more earlier on? is this hat for a grown up head or a kid head? i would like one for a grown up head, thanks. :-)

  • @eeelz1 The tutorial is for an approximate 20 inch head, which would be a youth to small adult head. If you use a larger crochet hook, it will work for an adult as well.

  • very lovely. thanks for the tutorial

  • one of the cutest stitches i've ever seen.

  • hi teresa do you have a left hand tutorial on this. and do you have a tutorial on how to make a baby hat with ear flaps?

  • Teresa is the hat supposed to be like flowery while im crocheting it like its wavy all around

  • This would be a good stitch for beginners in teaching them how to keep the yarn loose on the hook.

  • @DaddysGirl3181 Jeez! I'll say! I'm a beginner, had to try it about 10 times before i could work the first puff stitch. I couldn't pull it through. I hold the yarn too tight on the hook :(

  • @notanotherelitist I was like that. I started using a rug hook since it was bigger and I slowly moved down in sizes. Now I can use any size almost perfectly.

I hope you can get better :)

  • I have the most perfect blue yarn to use! If it wasn't one in the morning I would start now!

  • I figured t out to fit my toddlers head. Instead of 32 PS do 28 PS. On round 5: Work 1 PS in the next 5 spaces, Work 2 PS in the next space. Work all the way around to have 28 PS instead of 32 PS. Thanks!! Teresa for the patterns. You are AMAZING!

  • Can you knitt a cap like this with ears?

  • @Juicyjoily I am not familiar with knitting but there are a lot of knit hat patterns.

  • I love this hat, but i cant make one for my 3 yr. old i aways make it to big. So please can you give me a PS count for a toddler. And also, I love what you do im 23 and i love doing this. Thanks Ms. Teresa you are a big help.

  • do you have videos or pattern larger than this?

  • i am having trouble with the puff stitches like pulling the last not loop but string to knot it off. do you have any tips?

  • @CrashhAndBangg I will wrap the yarn over one more time, cut, and then pull it through.

  • Wonderful

Would like to make this hat for adult man, would the pattern be different?

    Thanx

    Maria

  • @Gideon1870 I would suggest a larger crochet hook with larger yarn. You may need to modify a bit so it does not get to large. Depending on the size of his head, you may want to add length.

  • how much yarn did you use to make this?

  • @litoaznkutie41 300 meters should be enough.

  • do you have the pattern for this in a child's size?

  • @igotitbad4seanpenn This is a child size. If you need it smaller, you can use a smaller crochet hook.

  • @igotitbad4seanpenn she does know

  • hi, I love all your videos. I learn a lot from them! Just a quick questions. I want to make this hat for a friend's birthday but I notice that the hat looks kind of hole-y near the bottom. Is there anyway to add a layer of fleece fabric or lining on the inside of the hat to keep wind from going thru the holes? Can you also teach me how to do that if there's a way?

    Thanks so much!!

  • how many yarn ball u use to make this hat?

  • @THEMYSYAMIMI 333 meters will be enough to make the cap.

  • Hey, quick question. I am wanting to make this for someone whose head is 22ins around... (man) . You said this pattern is for 19 inches. If i change the hook size 3 sizes will it work for this a 22 inch head. Im not good with knowing how to change it.

    Thank you,

    David

  • @db19812009 A larger hook will make a larger cap.

  • Could you make a video showing how to make gloves? I made this hat for my boyfriend using green and brown coloured yarn and want to make him a scarf and gloves to go with it.

  • Thanks so much for an amazingly helpful video! I already made one hat that looks wonderful! but its way too big :/

What would be the best way to make the hat smaller (tighter) without using thinner yarn or a smaller crochet hook?

Like on round five, should I not double up the PS on the third space and only do single PS?

  • @gonnabcrazi You will use less increase round and stitches.

  • How did humans ever discover how to do this?

This is like some kind of alien technology...

  • @culwin We are human spider aliens! ;)

  • Thank you for the very useful & easy to fallow video:) the only problem I have is I don't know how to attach the 2nd ear flap?? Plz help??

  • @mimivalero Attach the slip knot to the crochet hook. The slip knot is shown at 00:28 at the beginning of the video. Insert the crochet hook in to the space where you want to start. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull it through the loop on your hook. This is attaching the yarn. You will continue making the puff stitch the same as the rest of the hat.

  • hello teresa how can i prevent the holes from the hat puff stich? because they are very noticble and i dont want alot of these all around the hat

  • Im really not understanding how to connect the puff stitches >.< I've been here for an hour rewatching the video. OVER & over. just that ONE part!

  • Im soooooo confused >.<!!!!!! Too fast, toooo fassstt. =(

  • OK SOOO I JUST FOUND OUT HIS HEAD IS 52CM I WANT TO HET STARTED WITH THIS HAT BUT I WILL HAVE TO MAKE IT BIGER HOW CAN I DO THAT?

  • @alex9118able To a make the cap larger, you will use a larger crochet hook.

  • @tjw1963 like what size of hook will work? right know i have a 5.0?

  • @alex9118able 5.5, 6.0 or 6.5

  • HEY TERESA I ASK ABOUT A YOUTH SIZE HAT IN YOUR OTHER VIDEO IS THIS IT I HAVE MY SON HE IS FOUR WILL THIS FIT HIM?????? PLEASE REPLY!

  • @alex9118able You would need to measure your sons head to see if it is close to the size estimate.

  • What kind of yarn do u use? Red heart, ect. thank u

  • @liveyalife5123 I use Red Heart and Caron

  • What kind of yarn do u use? Red heart, ect. thank u

  • I made the baby puff stitch cap without the ear flaps, but added the ear flaps myself. It was before I saw this video. haha! If I wanted to make this for a baby, would I just use a smaller needle, or not as many puff stitches in the beginning...?? Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks alot for the 3ply yarn tutorial! I finally made something without worrying about the final reslt size!

  • fINISHED. cAME OUT very nice

  • Now I will give this hat a try.

  • The Tunisian stitch with shell stitch would be great with this project. Or even the Boucan stitch would also a great stitch...just making a suggestion.

I sit in front of the computer watching you do the projects and I'm entertained for hours and hours....thanks for all your shared knowledge.

  • Hi Teresa,

I just wanted to know: for this hat on rounds 5-14 do i still ch 1 at the beginning of the round and sl st into the space between each PS at the end of the round? I read your written instructions and have already made the ps baby hat...it came out really nice and i even added a ruffled edge and a flower. My 1 year old niece is now the proud owner of it (she wouldn't let me take it home) I love the that you switch the videos for us lefty's! Thank you! thank you! thank you!

  • Hello Teresa I want to make a adult size cap but I don't know which crochet hook size i can use for it.. Can you help me please? It's for a 18 year old girl.. And your cap is beautiful..

  • Love the pattern, But I was wondering if you could make a pattern for one that looks just like this but with stitches that would be closer together like a single or double crochet stitch? I have been looking for a pattern I'd like but can't find one.

  • @MsElfaba I will keep your suggestion in mind.

  • Comment removed

  • when you get the pattern on your blog, will you also please tell us the differences per row if we want to make a normal sized hat and not a small one? This is really exciting! I've been trying ear flap hats recently. Hopefully this one will work. XD

  • @artemisrain You will use a larger crochet hook to make this cap for an adult size head.

  • love the color cute but i can't find the pattern on the blog i looked all over for it.

  • @Lkfun I am still in the process of transferring the pattern from my chicken scratch over to my crochet blog. I will try to get it posted soon.

  • how many yards of yarn is needed for this cap?

  • @destinyhope64 250 yards.

  • @tjw1963 oh ok. thank you!

  • Great call on making on this one, kids never keep their ears properly covered so this is going to be a great problem solver.:) thanks.

P.S. I've been trying to leave a message straight on your channel page but it won't show and it's not the first time it happens. I wanted to ask you for help in other ocasions with projects but my messages don't appear on your channel comments box for some reason. Any idea why?

  • @ladysaraby I am not sure why your message is not getting sent.

  • Thank you for this pattern, I have been searching everywhere!!!! These videos are perfect for my limited college budget and a brand new nephew! I have already made 3 blankets and an applique flower. My new goal is christmas hats :)

  • Hi Teresa Love the puff st hats so cute . Do you have a written pattern for that yet. Thanks

  • I notice how you always use Boye crochet needles, I have Boye & Susan Bates. Just wondering if there is a reason you always use the Boye ones. Also, do you any videos for a zigzag style hat? I want to make a hat with a zigzag pattern instead of the usual stripe going around. Thanks! ;)

  • Thank you so much for this pattern. I made it for my baby boy. Its blue with a big pom pom on top. I also wanted to thank you because your videos taught me how to crochet and Im not perfect at it but I love doing it and i can make my family and friends hats or scarfs and they love them.

  • @b3j3w3l3d The hat sounds cute! Please share a picture on my Facebook crochet page.

  • @eallen721 Let's hope it is a mild winter!

  • sweet...been looking for this..

how can i make the cap bigger..?

    (new at this)

  • @sheino518 Use a size 5.5mm crochet hook and 4 ply yarn.

  • How long does it take be be good at crocheting?

  • @PlatinumHearts It really depends on how much you practice. Some people catch on right away, while others may struggle. It could be several weeks to a few months.

  • So neat!

  • I love this pattern and going to do this hat thank you.

  • justinbieber.
