The first is "Blind Among the Flowers" their first hit in the UK. Followed by "So Good To Be Back Home" their final Top10 hit. And the classic "I Only Want To Be With You" their biggest hit. It was first a hit by Dusty Springfield in 1964. Other hit versions are by The Bay City Rollers, Nicolette Larson and Samantha Fox. A lot of popular artists have covered it.
Thanks for the post. Never seen this Tourists spot before.
A few things about this set though: It's lip synced. I have all the Tourists albums and these are the exact studio recordings.
If this was 1981, then it was right before The Tourists broke up and right before Eurythmics formed. Dave was either having a falling out with Peet, or he was in some unfortunate situation (e.g. - too much acid).
Amazing. This is fantastic to see. Annie's something else (she's wearing almost the same hair now, minus the makeup), thank you for posting. I discovered some Tourist LPs not long after devouring "Sweet Dreams" & "Touch" back in 1983/84 & loved uncovering DnA's evolution.
The spanish tv presenter says that she's "strange, sophisticated and agressive"... which she really isn't! The poor little macho must have been scared... lol
Estraña may not have been the best choice of word, but I think she is both sophisticated and aggressive. You should also bear in mind that this was only two years after Franco's death, and people were not used to this sort of performance.
Their guitar-led power pop has aged well, considering how they were so constantly bashed by the music press for being frothty and retro in the era of Gary Numan, The Specials, The Police, acts that are now very much of their time. The Tourists also contained one of the first Asian rock musician, Malaysian Eddie Chin. Sady by their third album, contractual wrangles and creative tensions between Pete Coombes and David Stewart were pulling them apart
What a precious gem this video is!!! What a treasure from the archives!! I can't believe it... Annie was so young and energetic and brilliant in The Tourists. So good to finally see this after all these years!

Wow this is interesting...
She looks great though. Love the style, but I keep on getting the feeling that it was a big act, just to be famous.....she's very real now I guess.
Is that last song theirs? Because I've heard it and I haven't heard the others (I'm not an 80's kid *pouts*)

'Blind among the Flowers' is a perfect pop song. I remember buying it in a double - single pic sleeve in 1979. Still got it!!!
Love to know what Eddie Chin has done since!!

That must have sucked to summon a powerful performance in front of an apparently comatose crowd... but if anyone can do it, Annie can.
