  • "I'm so happy... 'Cous today I found my friend!

    His name is Andy!" :D

  • How does this compare to a jazzmaster?

  • can this do red hot chili peppers any good?

  • @xRAKDOZx Sounds like it would... I say go for it :)

  • Ugly but amazing sound!

  • Comment removed

  • What's the neck scale?

  • I knew this looked like a Cobain guitar, then he goes right to 'Lithium' Lol

  • @SuoerDsffdsf

well it does have an obvious mustang/musicmaster/duo sonic inspiration, and those were all initially student guitars. but i don't think it is actually a beginner guitar, just based off of the fender student guitar design.

  • Does this neck have a finsih on it or is it unfinished like the Rampage??

  • LITHIUM YEAAAAAAA

  • What is the scale length? Also, what kind of finish is on the neck?

  • @violetoctohedron true, but this doesnt have a huge neck.

  • What was the song at the beginning? I know it but I can't remember the name. Bastards of Young?

  • @cjdavda hes playing the fixer, pearl jam. great song.

  • @cjdavda The fixer by pearl jam

  • what riff do you play at 4:00? and I'm digging these videos. Andy definitely knows how to review guitars. I rely on the PGS demos to buy new gear all the time now.

  • Ugly but beatifull sond!

  • Ugly, but amazing sound!! xD

  • are these in stock now?

  • @violetoctohedron yeah but playing necks for rhythm can be good exercise for your fingers

  • i had one of the originals, its lovely.

  • beginning guitarists should really start off on good guitars like these rather than crappy squiers

  • @44eelz you call it a beginners guitar?

  • YOU PLAYED SWERVEDRIVER!!!!!!

  • Icky Thump!!!!!

  • Lithium!!!!!

  • The Fixer!!!!!

  • Oop, I just came a little bit.

    G&L needs to make shortscales

  • great demo and great tone...but what was the song at the start?

  • Any chance you gents at Proguitarshop could have this in stock again by September?

  • @jonnyrocketballs69 - G&L' s are custom order. If you want one feel free to give us a call.

  • were is that perfect distortion at 2:15 comming from? O.o

  • so its a thinner neck? right?

  • @bebenavole - Not really, more medium. Not a baseball bat, but certainly not a shredder neck either.

  • Andy, what kind of neck shape does this model have?

    Thanx

  • @bebenavole - We would describe it as sort of a modern "C" shape. Thanks!

    -PGS Crew

  • I hate this a bit I mean Andy has decades of tone in his fingers so I'm not even sure if that guitar will sound THAT good if I get myself one. Hmmm conundrum.

  • LITHIUM!

  • Very mustangy

  • He Had Me At Lithium.

  • Awesome ! G&L perfect forever <3

  • Awesome <3 G&L perfect forever !

  • i want that one in the background! also, andy, what is generating that thick and fat distortion sound? i want that sound

  • what distortion are you using?

  • does anyone know anyplace that stocks these in the UK? I wanna try it out before i buy it

  • As simple as the design is, they changed a lot from the originals. My '83 SC-2 had no body contours, a different top-routed control cavity, and a maple fingerboard with a 7.5" (so I've read) radius. Very heavy. The vibrato arm was also much shorter with a plastic tip. They sound incredible - the way my Strat sounds once I add a good bit of EQ and compression, these still sound better straight into the amp. I just wish they hadn't changed so much.

  • Some people don't like the way this guitar looks but I dig it. It sounds really good to. About a grand I think. I never owned a G and L but am sick of fenders declining quality. Have a 99 strat. Infact I like all the gand L's. Anyone own this let meknowif youlike it?

  • Had the luck to get to play one of these babies earlier today that was modded with a set of locking tuners. They may look odd, but the shape is damn comfy, and the sound kicks ass even moreso than it already does here. I hated having to leave the shop without it, but I'll be back soon to pick it up!

  • the red one in the background reminds me of jack white's Airline.

  • Just ordered the Fullerton red SC-2 from PGS!

So f***in' in luv with this piece of art!

  • I have an SC-2 in Himalayan Blue. I frequently ponder selling my PRS to finance another SC-2 (or 2). Incredible guitars!

  • What's the tune he plays from 4:00 onwards using the trem?

  • Methinks it's Paranoid Android (by Radiohead), could be wrong though.

  • You all realize that this is actually a Re-issue. G&L made SC-SC-2's in the 80s. If you listened to Band of Susans, you heard those guitars.

  • Yeah, for the most part, they obviously changed a few things, like the hotter bridge pickup and removing the metal control plate. Truth be told, this looks like a cooler guitar to me...

  • By FAR the fattest G&L bridge PU I've every heard. Wonder what drive he he was using. An OCD?

  • Pretty sure he's using the AC30's dirt. Could be wrong.

  • I'm not crazy over the looks.. but it sounds amazing!

  • Andy you should upload some guitar lessons...millions would be grateful to you man

    :)

  • When you play lithium, it's kind a make me chill... what would happen if Cobain still live today...

i suppose he will throw away his mustangs, and uses SC2 instead...

    hehe

  • Andy, Swervedriver. Awesome!!!!

Being the damn magpie that I am I passed on a good one for something else. It's funny though reicently there was a show band and the cat was playing one. I had to look what he was getting this fat tone out of. This tiny git was sounding as big as a house. I wanted one for a real punky grind. Go figure. As always Andy great chops Peace

  • Looks like a baby axe, but sounds great.

  • 4:20 - with the trem, what's that song?

  • thats such a nice shape and everything but 800$? i would never buy any guitar for that much

  • lol that's really not that too much for a guitar, man.

  • Man... Idk what ur playin but you can't buy a well built American Guitar for less than a grand, you're not paying for shape you're paying for quality.

  • Oh man, you haven't lived yet. The cheaper guitars are really great in their basic function, but it's the subtleties that really bring the tone together. The instrument is more than the sum of it's parts, it also has to be put together right, and if this thing is built anything like my G&L Legacy, you can bet you're buying a quality instrument.

  • TAKE ME TO THE RIVER

  • I blow away now.

    Great review !

  • 3:15 - Swervedriver , "Son of a Mustang Ford" . Represent.

  • Word!!

  • lithium :)

  • great guitar sound by the way, nice to hear some White Stripes in a gear demo too ^^

  • It's a song from The White Stripes "Icky Thump" on the album "Icky Thump" :P

  • ANDY, you are really such a talented guy! And your taste and groove are excellent. More please!

  • looks like a music master, sound like a les paul

  • Some of that tone no doubt comes from the P-90's

  • Those aren't P-90's. They're a G&L Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pickup.

  • the fixer, that song is growing on me loads

  • very "grunge" guitar

  • could someone tell me what was played around 2:10?

  • "Lithium" by Nirvana

  • whats the song at 4:51

  • Talking Heads in a guitar demo? Now that's a first for me. Awesome!

  • wat the lol...thats a weird guitar but it sounds superb!

  • It looks like a Squier Classic Vibe with P-90s.

  • i imagine if guthrie govan was doing the review. andy is good playing with clean setting

  • Can some1 please tell me what riff is played at 4:51, I've heard it so many times before, just can't put a name to it. Thx in advance. Sounds awsome!

  • Comment removed

  • icky thump- white stripes. :)

  • that's a sick amp

  • lithium ftw!

  • I don'nt like the fixer song

  • What's the song at 3:16? Sounds awesome :)

  • Sorry, The Fixer is the first song he plays. I'm not sure what the song a 3:16 is but you're right it sounds awesome.

  • Lithium?

  • sounds like pearl jam awesome sound sounds like a good guitar for social distortion or supersuckers. awesome.

  • It's tiny!

  • white stripes at the end [= thats sounds fantastic

  • This guitar is awesome.

  • woow he played swervedriver... :)

  • Kurt Cobain would've loved it!

  • What's the song at 4:20?

  • I reckon it's either The Who or Led Zeppelin. It sounds like sumin by either one haha.

  • You sir are my hero, i love nirvana

  • ANDY, plz play PIXIES RIFFS next time...

  • sounds good

  • do you talk to the ladies like that andy?

  • mmm.." hot and spanky"

  • lol... Indeed.

  • The body reminds me of a mustang.

  • dig the sound, not so much the appearance.

  • You had me until "12 inch radius". Looks like a killer guitar. If they had one in a Jaguar-ish scale with a 7.5" to 9" radius I'd be all over it.

  • Bet its great for indie rock

  • Icky Thump just sounded perfect. Is that the amp's drive you're using?

  • man it sounds great sorry about my messege i didn´t like when he played on it but when i saw the pictures of id i loved it

  • ugly guitar.

but thats only what i mean other people can like some can not

  • it looks like something from peewee's playhouse!

  • I got some if you need it Got some!

  • Icky THump!

  • hats the neck like?

    thanx.

  • red is very cool

  • whats the song at 3:16 ?

  • I could be wrong but it sounds like the new Pearl Jam song The Fixer.

  • correct 10 pointsXD

  • Well I was right that he played that song but he played it at the beginning and I said it was the song at 3:16. So...5 points. I was half right.

  • Pickups on this are pretty cool. They sound like the middleground between strat SCs and P90s. I'd love one in my tele's neck pos.

  • Is it possible to get one of those hot bridge pups? I'd quite like to drop one into my ASAT!

    Great demo, as always!!

  • I think the ASAT Super and the 20th Anniversary have the same bridge PU, but they're limited editions.

  • but what colour to get!?

  • I bet it would be awesome for punk or Ramones stuff. ;o)

  • the fixer lol

  • This was put up on my b day!

    sounds pritty cool

  • Are you playing through that Vox behind you?

  • that would be why there's a cable plugged into it and a microphone in front...

  • Yes he is.

  • thanks so much for this demo !!!

    i WANT this guitar ~

  • Okay, that's a step away from the ASAT Deluxe review I'm waiting for, but it is still quite awesome.

  • hey andy, I'm thinking 2 things. One is that you have the most amazing job EVER, well, I would love to have your job... The other thing is that, you being the best at this testing guitar thing, you should make a video with the video bloopers.. I think it would be maybe hilariuos!! Thanks ALWAYS for the info you guys share here.. :D keep it comin'

  • Hey, whats the riff that starts at 4:51 ?

  • OK, you convinced me. Send it to me.

  • lithium!

  • Awesome guitar, needs a maple neck though.

  • that thing is bad ass

  • Talking Heads!

  • That's a beautiful guitar!

  • Agreed!

  • Mmmmm P90's!!!
