Back in the early 80's when "Muisic Videos" were the new thing, they could be pretty dire...but this was a great video for it's time simple and effective.
@kunapwd You can view all their videos, including this one on their 2008 Album called, Messages: The Greatest Hits CD/DVD. You will hear Enola Gay after this video. Thats a promise. I have seen the videos and i still love it.
Fine second single. Notice for "Electricity," it was just the duo, but now have expanded to a four piece. First period band I can recal that employed synths, bass and drums WITHOUT a guitar. Even the great Numan used and played a lot of guitar work in his pioneering material. 1980--ahh, to be 27 and back in Greenwich Village, again!!! Only thing I would change would be that walking prostate, Reagan. Or Ray-gun. As he was known.
So glad young people have discovered just how great and ahead-of-
Visited a friends house and heard this fantastic sound from his sisters bedroom. She'd just bought a new L.P. from an unknown group called OMD. It was 1980,it was this track and I was 14yrs old at the time.30 years later,it still sounds fresh, new and takes me back to that day in my mates house.
10 years old and i bought this track in the recordstore in Holland and when it came out all the young 20ers were looking at me like i was from mars...One year before i stole the track Electricity from my sister that i gave her back later in life...Its still a topic of conversation on birthdayparty,s at my parents house...lol
10 months ago 3 when this video was made most of the docks had closed down because of maggie thatcher but the flower mills were still open the men were talking about this video being made so we went to have a look they painted the walls white and the doors red and the beams, i remember thinking when are they going to finish painting, but little did i know they had finished and had made the video
Back then my dad bough me a Korg micro preset synth, can you imagine how i felt knowing I had the OMD synth? you can hear it all the way through this, it's the bip bip bit. Often seen on their videos at the top of their racks with the knob panel on the left with sloped panel. I still have it (sorry wont ever sell it, means to much to me)
Great Stuff, good to hear this again. I saw them years ago when they supported Gary Numan....Ok they may dance like geography teachers but this is a good sound!
Ahhh!! What a song, what a band, this takes me back to winter break during high school in Corpus Christi, Texas (yes Texas), there were many 80s bands that didnt get airplay and many fans of seminal 80s alternative. This song transports me everytime I hear it, a cold deserted beach, bonfire, hopping from party to party. Timeless......
Great to see so many 'younger' people enjoy this. Proper music with real thought behind it instead of the mindless vocoder-fuelled rubbish from today's so-called 'singers' and 'bands' :)
Just saw them in L.A. and they were AMAZING. Definitely the best concert I have ever been to. I had so much fun and I danced all night! Brilliant music <3

Not sure if intentional, this song always had sense of melancholy or yearning to me. Just a beautiful composition. Love how the drummer just walks up joins in perfectly.
